The Kialgan

iKZWSsQ.jpg

Species: Kialgan
Designation: Sentient
Diet: Omnivorous
Lifespan: 200 Galactic Standard Years
Height: Based on the form. In its original form, it could range from 1 ft to 3 ft.
Homeworld: Unknown

Biology: The Kialgan are a sentient, unisex, changeling species. However, they only become sentient after 20 years. Kialgans can maintain many forms but their original form is that of a viscous lime-green goop (Similar to the picture shown above but not as massive and usually without the face unless modified that way). They are relatively small in their original form, but they are able to shapeshift into a variety of species and modify them to a certain degree(explained a bit below). In their original form, Kialgans are very slow-moving; they do not have any limbs to move. In a way, the original form of a Kialgan is simply a giant cell. A Kialgan can split itself up into many individual pieces, it can even go down into the molecular level. When split up, each piece is able to act individually though they are the same being. Imagine as if it is splitting off into a clone.

A Kialgan can only shapeshift into a species once the Kialgan is 20 galactic years old(same age when it becomes sentient) and then it must drink the blood of the species it wishes to turn into. For example, for a Kialgan to turn into a human, they would have had to drink the blood of a human. The process of obtaining blood is a meticulous one since a Kialgan in its original form is a slow-moving, bright-colored goo. The Kialgan will latch onto a sleeping host, and slowly insert a part of itself into the host on a molecular level. The molecules of the Kialgan will then latch onto red blood cells, and return to the main body. A Kialgan requires at least roughly one tablespoon of blood in order to unlock the ability to shapeshift into whatever species the blood is from. The process of collecting blood can take up to 30 minutes but it can vary depending on species; some species have thicker skin than others. Once a Kialgan can shapeshift into a creature, it accelerates its own cell growth tremendously and copies the structure of the specific specimen it latched onto. If a Kialgan latched onto a short female, it will only be able to shapeshift into that exact being. The only way a Kialgan can get around this is if they have multiple hosts.

Once a Kialgan has latched onto many hosts, it can begin modifying its shapeshifted form in various ways. For example, if a Kialgan drank the blood of a Bantha and a Human being, it can combine the aspect of the two; it could form into a human with Bantha horns. They can even do other modifications, such as stretching their limbs while in a shapeshifted form. The possibilities of its shapeshifting are endless, as long as it has drunk the blood of a creature. The Kialgan also unlocks the racial abilities of a species. If certain species can spit acid, the Kialgan would be able to do the same once shapeshifted into that species. The time required to shapeshift depends on the size of the creature. Changing or regrowing a few limbs would only take a few seconds. Turning into a human could take around a minute. Turning into a Rancor could take up to an hour.

Important note: a Kialgan can only drink the blood of a species when a Kialgan is in its original form. This means a Kialgan will have to leave its shapeshifted form in order to obtain the form of another species. Also, Kialgans can only shapeshift when they are a whole and not split up. Meaning if a Kialgan is split in half, it must rejoin in order to shapeshift. There is a twist to this though, a shapeshifted Kialgan can assign individual limbs to different parts of itself; this means a Kialgan could transfer the work-load.

Breeding: The Kialgans are a unisex species, however, they do not reproduce asexually. Kialgans are only able to breed when they are 180-200 galactic years old. Once two able Kialgans meet, they will enter their original forms and combine with one another. During this process, both the Kialgans break down on a cellular level. The process of breaking down will form the growth of new cells and the two Kialgans will form into one Kialgan. Once formed into one, the Kialgan will split off in 3-5 pieces and these pieces will be brand new Kialgans. This SEXUAL ACT can take up between one to two weeks. The new Kialgans will not contain any memories, info, species data, and etc. It will essentially be an entirely new Kialgan.

Strengths: The Kialgans are able to shapeshift into any species (as long as requirements listed before are followed) and modify them. The possibilities of modifications could be infinite. If a Kialgan had access to the right species, it could very so much be a human with Bantha horns, Ewok arms, chiss eyes, and etc. Kialgans do not feel most pain(read weaknesses), and they are essentially immune to basic physical attacks such as slashing, piercing, or blunt impact all via regularly weaponry. This is due to a Kialgans goo like structure and their ability to regrow themselves.

Weakness: Kialgans have many surprising weaknesses. When in original form, Kialgans are extremely weak against water and fire. For some odd reason, water melts them when they are in their original form. Extreme heat can evaporate a Kialgan, but they must be actually set on fire or near a source of extreme heat; a slash or penetration from a lightsaber would give the same effect. When shapeshifted, water does not affect a Kialgan. The effects of fire on a shapeshifted Kialgan depends on its form. If a Kialgan shapeshifted into a human, it would have the same resistance to fire as a human. If shapeshifted into a fire-resistance being, it can resist fire. Kialgans are also highly weak to Cortosis, to the point where being within 15 feet of Cortosis could kill them (Imagine superman with Kryptonite.)

The biggest weakness of a Kialgan is that they cannot be force sensitive(NO EXCEPTIONS). They are unable to grow, absorb, and even maintain MIDICHLOREANS. The reason for this is unknown, but it may be due to the cells that allow Kialgans to shapeshift.

Diet: Kialgans can digest anything, and their method of eating depends on the form they take. In their original form, they simply latch onto something to eat and is breaking down the substance's cells; the cells would then be absorbed. However, a Kialgan does not have to eat frequently. Maybe twice a galactic year will be required to eat. Though Kialgans can eat as much as they want with no drawbacks, it would also provide no benefit.

The only required nutrient a Kialgan could need would be blood, and it is only used to shapeshift into other creatures.

Behavior and Temperament: Kialgans obtain the same personality as the first sentient being it is able to shapeshift into. For example, if a Kialgan latched onto a happy, cheery/hyper little girl, it would maintain that personality for the rest of its lifespan. Meaning that the behavior of a Kialgan is solely based on the first sentient-being it drinks the blood from.

When it comes to intelligence, Kialgans are only limited to the amount of information they are given. They have a perfect memory, but they also must actually learn of things in order to understand them. For example, in order to read a book, a Kialgan would have to learn the language, learn how to read, learn how to hold a book, so on and so forth. This would require the Kialgan to be given the information, but once given they are essentially masters in what was learned.

If a Kialgan is below the age of 20(the age where it becomes sentient) it will have no personality or consciousness. It would simply be a blob of goo acting on instincts.

Communication: Kialgans are unable to speak in their original form, however, they can learn the language of other species. Though they must truly learn the language by hearing it, learning the meaning of words, and the grammar. This means a Kialgan would have to be taught a language or spend a lot of time observing people speak that language. They can also mimic the sounds of animals if heard.

Culture: The Kialgans do not have any culture or tradition. Most Kialgans do not even meet their own kind in their lifetime, so there is no community. However, every year there is a day where a Kialgan cannot access its shapeshifting powers. This phenomenon usually occurs during the tenth month on the Galactic Standard Calendar. The reason for this occurrence is unknown.

History: The Kialgans derive from the far trailing unknown regions. The Kialgans actually use to be a sophisticated species, spreading offspring to neighboring planets and conquering them. However, the Kialgans lived in an unstable planetary system. Around 20,000 BBY, the sun within the system eventually caused a supernova that wiped out the system. The Kialgans sent as much as their offspring into space, hoping they would eventually make it to safety and continuing the species. However, most of the Kialgan offspring died of old-age, hunger, or outside forces. About only a hundred or so managed to reach planets in the unknown regions that were closer to the core and planets within wild space. From then on, the Kialgans have mostly been an individualistic species that simply try to survive.

Intent: This is mostly with the intent to provide an interesting character. With a Kialgan, you don't need the force or any equipment to fight; a Kialgan is essentially a weapon itself. Pretty much in all cases, PVP threads are just force users and people with high tech gear. A Kialgan can spice things up by offering a somewhat barbaric style of fighting where they simply just use the forms they are in. The species could also be used to make highly interesting characters that could be used for humor or serious purposes. A Kialgan is essentially a race that can cover all acts of species. Let us say for example you like Twi'leks, but you don't like their head tentacle things, boom you can just replace it. This species gives a lot of creative freedom for roleplayers but provides limits to not be completely unstoppable.

I also know that there is already a creature that is very similar to the Kialgan in star wars: the Mnggal-Mnggal. However, Mnggal-Mnggal is from legends and it is not entirely a shapeshifter. Mnggal-Mnggal is a full-on parasite that takes over people's bodies and they can only shapeshift to extent of growing an eye or growing teeth. I wanted to provide a Kialgan as a new interesting changeling since most of the other shapeshifting creatures in star wars are hideous to look at. The main reason I didn't choose the Mnggal-Mnggal is that it is actually a single entity, not a species. Kialgans are a species, so they would be more "player-friendly" in the sense that each one would have free will. The Mnggal-Mnggal is simply what I based Kialgans on, but changed up certain aspects that would seem more interesting to use.

My main worry with the species is that some people will try to start out with access to a bunch of creatures. So, I have come up with a solution to counteract such abuse. If someone wants to make Kialgan, they can only have a max of two species they can shapeshift into and they'll have to provide their access to those species in the biography. To obtain any other species they'll simply just have to show that they got the blood within a thread somehow. If necessary, limits could also be set per level though I don't think it would be necessary at all.

An example of a modification:
L3fZdx9.jpg

Basically a girl with a snake for hair. Since a Kialgan, can split itself off and each part can act differently, the snake could essentially be sentient as well. Though, both the girl and the snake would be the same being, have the same personality, and etc.

@sayso Before I can give this a review, I'm gonna have to ask you to make the text bigger.

@sayso After discussion with the rest of the staff team, I simply can't approve the species as is. It is way too OP. Limb regeneration, goo shifting and metamorphosis is just too much. The only way we're gonna approve another shapeshifter species is if they follow the same restrictions as Clawdites; that is the only transfiguration that can occur is between species of comparable mass and no racial ability gains. And even then, that would be the species only power.

If that's something you can live with, make the edits and tag me for a re-review.

I'm fine with all of those, but I have two questions. The first, can I keep limb regeneration but make it weaker? I thought of two ways to do this. The first is that the Kialgan could replace a limb but it would lose its mass. The best way to show this is with the picture below. Let us say an arm gets cut off, it could replace its arm using mass from other areas but that would, in turn, make the creature smaller. The second idea that came to mind is that the regeneration would take a very long time. I would like to have both be implemented, but if I have to pick one or the other then the second option would be more preferable.

Sorry that this threads gone so long without a reply, but Abe's review stands. We're saying no to the limb regeneration, even weakened. If you're still interested in pushing this species through please get back to me (tag me) within a week and get those edits done, otherwise I'm going to go ahead and archive it so it's no longer sitting here. If it gets archived but you end up wanting to continue with it, you can request for it to be moved back here. @sayso
