Kitari Hanahira

Kitari was born in the Core Worlds, on a primarily corporate world. Her mother and father both worked for a large company, and were getting to be in the higher echelon of the company when their house was broken into. Kitari, only five at the time, watched her parents die to quick slashes of a vibroblade, held by men hired by a jealous rival who wanted a promotion. The man turned towards her menacingly and she screamed, but it was cut short by another slash that opened her throat.

Whether by luck or perhaps the cruel man who had murdered her parent's design, the slash didn't kill her. Her scream had alerted the neighbors to their apartment, who had quickly called the local law enforcement. She lost a lot of blood before the ambulance got there, but thanks to their skills and that of a medical driod she survived, though the combined mental and physical trauma left her in a coma she didn't wake up from for a month. And when she woke up, she was told that her interupted scream would probably be the last sound she made, as her vocal chords had been irreparably damaged.

It was ten years later when she finally caught up to the man who had killed her parents. She had spent her whole life training for this moment, had used up a large portion of the wealth her parents had left her for the best training money could buy, learning how to use a vibrosword, blaster pistol or rifle, as well as training in hand to hand combat. Vengeance had become the focus of her life until this moment. She had even refused to go with the Jedi who had come to tell her she was Force sensitive and could train her to become a Jedi, because that would prevent her from seeking revenge, she knew. She had instead paid for training in the Force as well from an independant group.

She had him cornered in an alley, holding a vibrosword while she had a pistol aimed at his head. She knew the sword well - it was the same one he had used to kill her parents, and to nearly kill her as well, not to mention leave her mute - and it visited her often in her nightmares. Her hand shook as she glared at him, finding herself unable to pull the trigger. At least until he grinned ferally and charged at her, and she pulled the trigger without really aiming.

The shot blasted through his heart and changed her world in an instance. He fell to the ground, dead, and the blaster pistol fell from her hand. She moved closer, not able to cope with what she had done. It was then she noticed the cut left by the vibrosword. The man had managed to hit her even as he died, but it had been thrown off course. It had still slashed into her side, and from the way she was weezing probably hit a lung.

She put a hand to it, panicking for a few moments before she finally calmed down. She had had some training in the Force, and she had found that she was really only good at one thing - healing. Most other Force abilities eluded her entirely, but this one she had gotten pretty good at. She shut out the pain and closed her eyes, filling her body with the Force and mending the wound, just enough so that her lung was healed and she was barely bleeding.

She didn't have time to heal it completely where she was. Making a quick decision before she left the alley - the authorities or someone else might come and respond to that attack - she grabbed the man's vibroblade, replacing it in its sheath before running off with it.

She escaped the planet easily - it seemed noone had found out it was her who had killed the man, at least not yet. She had used most of what was left of her family's fortune to purchase a starship, having trained in piloting them as well. Once on it she was able to concentrate and fully heal herself, but now she had no place to go, and she was afraid. She had spent her whole life training for killing that man, and now that he was dead... she had no idea what to do with herself. From then on, however, her nightmares were no longer of the sword she now carried - tied shut with a peace knot most of the time, except when she trained - but rather of the face of the man she had murdered.
