B I O G R A P H Y

The Jedi Order valued its code above all else; peace in all things, serving the will of the Force, compassion, and empathy for all. While they professed to adhere to this code, they would often find themselves beholden to others to survive, be it a Republic, or an Alliance, or their own fear, and that code would become muddied. Some would take issue with this, and continue to stubbornly hold to the code above all else, incurring penalties for simply doing the right thing, regardless of politics. The Jedi would sometimes react harshly toward those who skirted the line - this was where Laris' story began.

Laris was, by all accounts, an ordinary Jedi who simply believed that the Jedi would let themselves get waylaid by politics too often, and tried to work within the rules they had set down. She performed admirably as well, until one day when she was called to a hostage situation on Corellia. She was ordered to stay away from the area, despite the fact that she could bolster the troops sent in. She learned that the hostages were members of a rival political party who wanted to institute some kind of reforms to the senate, and their opponents, good friends of the chancellor, had decided to put a stop to that. It was a hired hit sloppily done, but there was no evidence, just hearsay, and no way to prove it. Intervening would damage the Jedi's at the time shaky reputation, and they 'needed' the Senate's support. Despite that, Laris went in anyway, ignoring all orders to withdraw and storming the building herself...

When she came to after the explosion, she was informed of two things. First, the hostages had been killed in the crossfire when a stray blaster bolt hit a power pack, triggering a chain reaction that leveled the whole floor. She was the only survivor, with burns covering her entire body, and conveniently, she was a prime scapegoat for the Jedi. She was thrown to the wolves, expelled from the order for ignoring orders and reckless endangerment, and almost arrested. She ran, ran all the way to the Sith, hurt and betrayed, but that didn't last long either. They committed atrocities that, even in her vulnerable state, she couldn't stomach, so she ran again. She ran for what felt like forever, all the way into the Unknown Regions, to some random city on some backwater planet.

It was there she was met by a Mandalorian, himself a wanderer, who took pity on her. He picked her up and began to train her, teaching her about the Mandalorian Creed. She told him of her upbringing, and he began to pick apart the Jedi mentality, helping her come to terms with the pain and regret she had tried to push down. He made sure she understood that she was right in what she did, though not how she did it, and that she needed to follow her own path and creed if she wanted to truly make a difference. She knew the right thing to do, and she wasn't going to let politics or compromise get in the way. She was a good person, and she was a warrior, and she would not let that die.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Despite outward appearances, Laris is very friendly and outgoing, if a little introverted. She wants to do good and wants to be friendly, but she is also willing to do what needs to be done for the greater good the higher the threat and the more lives are at stake.

A B I L I T I E S

As a fully trained Jedi Knight, Rainea is adept in various force techniques. Through natural talent and training, she recently began to hone the advanced technique of Psychometry, though her grasp of it is still very rough around the edges.

In terms of a more physical nature, she is a skilled fighter, well versed in unarmed and ranged combat, always keeping a blaster on her person just in case. Her passion lies in lightsaber combat, not only as a form of defense but stress relief too. Heavily enamored with the elegance and precision of the art, she has become very experimental with her lightsaber and the various forms it can take.

She also is a competent pilot and can perform basic maintenance on droids and ships, seeing it as necessary if she wants to traverse the galaxy with any semblance of competency.
