Legends planets in a backstory

I was wondering what the rules were for using a Legends planet, or some Legends aspects of a canon planet, for some inconsequential background information on a character. For instance, saying they were born on Jabiim or went to college on Mrlsst or got really into the Bogan cult for a few months and was taken advantage of by a Miraluka woman, has very little influence on future roleplay, but does add some unique characteristics to a person. Since we're not supposed to create planets for the purpose of background information, can we sprinkle these references in, or are we forced to stick to the canon no ifs, no buts, no coconuts?

Normally, we stick to canon as best as possible, but if we absolutely are unable to, we'll follow legends. I'd recommend checking out the planet profiles if you want a unique planet.

Mainly I was going to do Talus and Tralus because of the twin-planet dynamic. My next question is using a canon planet, but using aspects of the culture discussed in legends. For instance, Arkania is a canon planet, but the snooty Arkanian culture was only described in legends. I see that Arkanian is in the approved species list, but what about their culture? Since the canon has not said that they're not the same, can I assume that they haven't changed?

Since I'm no character mod, I'd suggest posting your idea in the Workshop and @ 'ing someone like @Dark child . This stuff is over my paygrade, I just hoped to give you a rudimentary example.

Sorry!

Thanks for answering this question, I did what I could but I lack the brain capacity to know.

@KaiserMelech

Generally speaking culture is fine, its more large scale historical impact that we are concerned about.
This makes me very happy.

That's all we can ask of you.

For what it's worth, I run into this situation a lot; the way I tend to deal with it is the keep things as general and non-specific as I can. My droid character, X3R, for example, originally had a very specific backstory related to his service in Xim the Despot's campaigns; I wound up turning that into "a pre-Republic dictator" and leaving out as many specific people and place-names as I could. The result, I found, didn't suffer much for it.
Hope that helps!
