DESCRIPTION
The Lictor-class dungeon ship is a heavy prison transport manufactured as a joint venture between Rendili StarDrive and MandalMotors. Based on an ancient Mandalorian design, the type has a reputation for being one of the most escape-proof vessels of its kind; in centuries of service, only a handful of successful riots and individual escapes have ever taken place aboard Lictor-class dungeon ships.

The Lictor is considered a heavy cruiser under the Anaxes War College classification system, 764 meters in length with a crew of 1,260 beings, including 400 guards. The ships is armed to defend itself with 10 quad light turbolaser turrets and heavy shields, although it is not really designed to fight. It is designed to securely hold prisoners, 9,000 of them, including 1,000 in maximum security isolation cells designed for especially difficult inmates. In addition to the holding cells themselves, the Lictor is equipped with a comprehensive internal monitoring suite, including multi-spectrum holocameras, motion tracking systems and even seekers. In addition, various anti-riot countermeasures are in place, including heavy blast doors along every corridor, remote-controlled blaster turrets and quick-response security droids to subdue unruly prisoners. Even in the event of a successful riot, the ship is almost impossible to hijack; after being set at the start of the voyage, the ship's navicomputer is locked into its course, able only to travel to either its destination or back to its starting point.

Lictor-class dungeon ships were widely used by the Galactic Empire during its reign over the Galaxy, with special versions being fitted to transport captured Jedi during the purge. After the New Republic's victory in the Galactic Civil War, however, many were retired from service, although not all, the new government still having some prisoners that need moved from place to place. Other governments operate the type as well, of course, and even some criminals have found a use for them, most distastefully slavers, who use second-hand Lictors to transport their sentient wares.
