Welcome to the last event of the eighth timeline, Star Wars: Fires of Rebellion! In time with the arrival of many holidays, including Christmas and the New Year, which are just over the horizon, Star Wars RP will be celebrating Life Day for the entirety of the Epilogue period until the beginning of the 9th Timeline.

During this holiday event, participation in certain types of threads will let you take part in a special story unique to this event! You don't want to miss out on this opportunity! Please read the announcement below to see all of the details of this event:

What is Life Day?

latest
Life Day is a holiday that originated with and is celebrated by Wookiees on Kashyyyk. The earliest known celebration of Life Day took place c. 1,500,000 BBY. Since then, it has become a renowned holiday all across the galaxy. Life Day is a sacred day to Wookiees, in which they celebrate the diverse ecosystems of Kashyyyk, mourn those who have died, and celebrate the lives of the young ones in their families. Tree-drum music is popular on Kashyyyk during the festivities.

Wookiees consider it their duty to return to Kashyyyk on Life Day. Once home, they chew the root of the orga plant and journey to the Life Tree, where it was believed their civilization began many millennia ago. They also reinforced any life debts they had to their so-called “honor families” during the holiday. Those who celebrate the holiday often decorate wroshyr trees as a symbol of the day. Life Day was most important when Wookiees were in mass enslavement across the galaxy, as it was a means of connecting to their history even when forced to be away from home.

Life Day in the Galaxy:

  • Long ago, the Jedi Order also began to celebrate Life Day in order to show their solidarity with the Wookiees; they would frequently decorate their temples in honor of the holiday. With the Jedi gone, some Wookiees use Life Day to mourn the loss of their ancient allies.
  • Due to cultural conformity laws, the celebration of Life Day was banned in the Sith Empire. This practice has changed with the dissolution of the Empire, and now all citizens of the free galaxy can enjoy the festivities.
  • The Mandalorians respect the Wookiees for the strength of their warriors. Though the Mandalorians do not celebrate Life Day itself, some make the pilgrimage to Kashyyyk to take part in gladiatorial-style matches to show their respect for the Wookiees and to increase their own prestige at home.

The Setting

The main setting of the SWRP Life Day Event is (obviously) on Kashyyyk itself! However, the specific location of the event is the floating-tree village of Rowrakruk. With the Galaxy closing one chapter of its history, and beginning a new one, the village has once again opened its arms to the Galaxy to come celebrate Life Day with the natives! While all sorts of activities are happening, we have put together several prompts to help get you writing if you are not sure where to begin but feel free to make your own stories as well! Some of the activities include:
  • Boat races through the large river running through the village.
  • Tree-drum music festivals are common in the evening and at night.
  • The tri-annual Life Day hunt.
  • Ceremonial combat matches are held between Wookiees. However, in Rowrakruk, these combat matches are open to outsiders as well to encourage others to celebrate Life Day.
Traditional Wookiee cuisine is also cooked throughout the day and served freely to anyone who visits the village during the celebrations. Because of the Mandalorian governance from Dax Vizsla there has been naturally an increase in Mandalorian presence on the planet and so there might be a noticeable difference in the differences of this Life Day celebration.

For the first time in a long time many of the more northern parts of Kashyyyk are experiencing climate extremes. Snow has been spotted across the planet falling from the sky. The local wookiees worry about this as it might be a bad omen while others considering it a cause for celebration. The inclimate weather forcast during the holiday period is not likely to even have any of the snow stick to the ground or amount to much but outsiders have noted that it seems to only add to the Life Day spirit.

The Event

Starting on December 14th, you will be able to choose from one of the following thread prompts and do a thread based on that prompt. The contents of that thread are up to you and your imagination!

See the Rules section below this one for more information and guidelines!

Prompts:

  • Several Wookiees have decided to allow outsiders to challenge them in the wrestling pits. While they promised not to rip any limbs off on purpose, it is not a challenge to make lightly. Bring a friend...or three.
  • Sith Remnants only:The Order is not destroyed; it's merely biding its time. The Sith need numbers, and they need strong acolytes for the rebuilding of the once glorious Empire. Slip into the shadows and abduct a force-sensitive Wookiee to bring him/her into the Sith Order.
  • Participate in a race up one of the massive wroshyr trees that cover the planet and reach the canopy without falling to your certain death. Rumors are going around of the rare Shyyyo bird making a nest atop one of the massive trees. Perhaps you'll spot the legendary creature?
  • Participate in a boat race against at least two other members! Use dice to keep the thread fresh and amusing! The thread should feature exactly five (5) posts from each participant with the winner claiming the bragging rights!
  • Participate in a hunt with another player to bring back game for the Life Day feast! This thread can be DMed, dice-rolled, or both! You will be compensated for any game you bring back!
  • The leaves of the rare Dusk Flower are used to create a strong tea used in a ceremony of friendship. These flowers only grow in most remote areas of the Shadowlands. Travel there and search for the rare flower while defending yourself against the savage flora and fauna of the region.
  • Rumors of an awakened Terentatek threaten the Wookie villages during the festival. While these creatures will kill anything in their path, they have a special taste for the blood of Force Sensitive individuals. Participate in a hunt to eradicate one of these hulking creatures.
  • Mandalorians and/or Republic only: Trandoshan hunters often come to Kashyyyk in and around Life Day to hunt Wookiees, even despite Mandalorian protection! As Mandalorians, you find this to be cowardly! Track down any Trandoshan hunters in the area and kill them out of respect for the Wookiees and the glory of Mandalore! Bring some Republic comrades along with you and show them how the Mando'ade hunt, if they're not already on the hunt themselves. This thread can be DMed, dice-rolled, or both!
  • The path from Rowrakruk to the Tree of Life is frequently attacked by large and dangerous creatures infesting Kashyyyk's woods. Keep the path safe for the Wookiees making the pilgrimage to the place where their civilization began! This thread can be dice-rolled, DMed by another member, or both!
  • Jedi and/or GA only: Take a pilgrimage to the Life Tree to fulfill the ancient rite of showing solidarity with the Wookiees.
  • SPECIAL — Cross-faction prompt: The Wookiee chieftain of Rowrakruk has been alerted that a large colony of Wyyyschokk spiders have emerged from underground up in the mountains above the village and threaten to swarm! The Kashyyyk variant of the species are much larger than Wookiees, making them exceedingly dangerous! Take a team out into the Black Forest to deal with the threat! This thread should include one (1) member from each faction! Either work together or against each other in this all out fight for survival, which can be dice-rolled, DMed, or both!

Rules and Guidelines

Please read over the following rules and guidelines for the event!

  • By no means is this event mandatory! It's simply fun writing prompts to get people in the holiday spirit and end the timeline on some positive notes while everyone wraps up their character arcs!
  • All threads must be started and completed within the timeframe of the event. This is the end, people!
  • All threads should have both the KASHYYYK and EVENT tags, just so people know.
  • DEATH DISABLED. In the spirit of the holidays, death is disabled for any combat-related threads. However, serious injury and/or maiming, and, in some instances, even capture, can still occur, so don't let your guards down! Should you desire death, be mindful that you must add the PVP tag to your thread, as well as get the consent of everyone involved!

.

Have fun and Happy Holidays and end of Timeline Eight from the SWRP Staff!
