Lifeline Series Body Armor
The Lifeline Series, produced by the Czerka Corporation, was originally marketed as an affordable entry level body armor for low-to-medium risk personnel, such as standard patrol officers on planetary police forces, commercial security, and executive protection professionals who did not have a day to day need for heavier, more cumbersome armor. It's appealing price point, reliability, and simple design made it an attractive option for governments and corporations on a budget looking to outfit the maximum number of personnel at minimal cost. The armors first major breakthrough came when Czerka was awarded a contract to supply the vests to the Corellian Security Forces (CorSec). Long regarded as one of the Galaxies premier law enforcement agencies, many other departments followed suit in adopting the lightweight vest as a standard issue item. The resultant surge in popularity saw the vest pressed into service among various local law agencies, bulk freight and cruise line security officers, and numerous other paramilitary organizations. It wasn't long before the Lifeline series became a popular item for business executives, bounty hunters, smugglers, and other private citizens of varying degrees of upstandingness.
The base model is a simple armorweave vest with integrated pockets, front and back, for the insertion of replaceable plastoid plates, providing limited protection against most common blaster weapons and vibroblade attacks directed at the wearers torso. It's slick profile is designed to be worn either under the wearers standard uniform (as pictured on the cross section of an Antarian police officer, below) or over the uniform with other issued duty gear as a visible deterrent to engage the wearer (worn by two Brentaal Port Security Officers, right). Capitalizing on its widespread popularity, Czerka now offers a bewildering array of variants, such as vests designed to better accommodate different alien anatomies, different closure and donning methods, alternate materials such as a heavier and more durable durasteel version, etc. For it's more discerning customers the company offers a luxury line which accommodates custom orders utilizing exotic materials, such as Nerf and Bantha hide covers, custom patterns, etc. Finally, many companies produce aftermarket attachments such as blaster pack carriers, integrated medical pouches, combat webbing, identity and marker panels, and much more.
