New Cov, a planet covered by what some considered the most dangerous jungles in the entire Galaxy. It was so terrible that the people were forced to live in domed cities to escape from the lethal fauna and flora that shared the world with them. Any damage at the transparisteel structures that formed these domes and a menagerie of abominations would walk through the streets.

And it was exactly what had happened.

A powerful earthquake had damaged the structures of the dome of a city in New Cov’s Southern Hemisphere, allowing the fauna of the planet to run through the streets causing havoc. Due to the intensity of the tremor, the destruction caused by it was so severe that the government asked the Jedi to help. Several Knights and Padawans were helping in controlling the dangerous animals and saving people, while the local authorities dealt with the reconstruction of the dome.

Under the supervision of T-A78, a T-Series protocol droid, Aranmir and another Padawan were traveling in a transport from the capital toward the city. Unfortunately, the local flying fauna decided to say hello too close for the Tiefling’s taste. The result: it collided against the vessel and they were forced to make an emergency landing in the middle of the mortal forests, kilometers away from the nearest settlement. The best part of it all was that there was no signal to call for help.

Oh, Gosh! Oh, Gosh! We are doomed!” T-A78 said for the millionth time, from its place at Aranmir’s belt. The Tiefling was starting to hate that type of protocol droid. “You two are going to be devoured and I’ll be left here alone to rust! I don’t want to end this way. Can’t you make the communication work?

I’m trying!” Aranmir screamed, while trying to get some signal. When this new attempt ended in failure, the Padawan hit his fist against the console. New Cov’s jungle was so dense that nothing seemed to be able to pass through it. His reaction made the droid panic some more. Groaning, the Tiefling hoped that his fellow Jedi would be luckier than him in seeing the extension of the damage in the ship.

Ferrin was, to the surprise of not a single soul, in a terrible mood. It wasn’t the first time that the Pantoran Padawan had crash-landed during a Jedi mission, and he was rapidly growing tired of the constant hazard that came along with using Jedi vessels for transportation - convinced it was the fault of dilapidated equipment and poor maintenance. To make matters worse, the jungles of New Cov were especially humid and hot, leaving the Pantoran sweaty and miserable in addition to being stranded.

“Will you shut the fuck up?” The Pantoran hissed from further in the ship, approaching the end of his patience for the protocol droid. Unlike Ezra, Ferrin wasn’t especially attached to droids and would’ve had no problems throwing T-A78 across the jungle and out of earshot.

Wiping his smudged up hands on a rag, Ferrin hopped down from where he was perched - eyes narrowed into thin slits. “The Hyperdrive and primary engines are totaled beyond repair. We ain't goin anywhere." Not that Ferrin actually had any engineering knowledge like Ezra. But he knew what the latter two looked like, and they both had been torn to shreds during the crash impact.

Plotting down on the ramp of the shuttle, Ferrin glared off into the distance - taking in a deep breath from his nostrils. It was a solid minute or two before he glanced over to Aranmir, regarding the Tiefling for a long moment. “We can either sit and wait for evac, or try to make for higher ground where signal is better.”

That was really their only option at this point.

Ferrin gave voice to Aranmir’s thoughts when he ordered T-A78 to stop talking. The Tiefling was already fed up with the constant complaints of the droid, who was starting to look worse than a 3-PO. Unfortunately, what the Pantoran said had the contrary effect. T-A78 only talked more, this time full of indignation.

Padawans shouldn’t talk this way with your superiors!” the Tiefling raised his eyebrow, before turning back to console in front of him. He wondered when a droid became his superior. “I was chosen as your supervisor until we found the Knights at the capital. This way I have the same authority as a Knight. You can’t talk this way to a Knight!” looking back at the Pantoran, Aranmir was sure that he would have talked this way to another Jedi.

Padawan Ferrin Sipal, I’ll report you to the Council.” T-A78 said that in such a solemn way that Aranmir ended up needing to bite his lips to not laugh. He wondered how such a small thing could be so arrogant.

Okay, this shit isn’t going to work.” Aranmir said, ignoring T-A78’s rant about Padawans and their foul language. Since Ferrin wasn’t able to fix the engines, they didn’t have many options at the moment.

Since I don’t want to stay here waiting for whatever fucked monster came to eat us, I think that we should go to a high place.” by this point his cursing was already on purpose to annoy the protocol droid. After all, he lived a good part of his childhood as a street urchin. Making authority figures annoyed was part of him. Ignoring T-A78 with a smile, Aranmir turned to Ferrin “Do you have a datapad or comlink? We should bring everything that can establish a communication.
