Lymsleia Tane​

Lymsleia "Lym" Tane is a linguistics student and aspiring journalist based on Coruscant.

Raised in a comfortable family, with a diplomat father and civil servant mother, Lym never wanted for much. She attended a decent school and applied herself well. She showed a particular gift for languages and communication, shining in school debate teams. After graduating with excellent grades, she started attending university on Coruscant to study a combination of linguistics and languages.

Whilst studying for her degree, Lym is also heavily involved with student media. After spearheading an attempt to run a news programme via the university's academic network, she spent a summer interning with Holonet News. Although it involved more fetching caf and filing than actual news work, it gave Lym a taste that she hasn't been able to shake. Now, as she approaches the end of her undergrad degree, she's on the lookout for the future. Maybe, one day, she'll find that big scoop and make her mark on the world.

S K I L L S_ A N D_ A B I L I T I E S

Lym has a good understanding of languages and the structure of communication. Learning from her father, she developed a keen interest in different languages used in Galactic diplomacy, which she continued to study throughout her adolescence. At university, she studied the development and structure of language and communication too. Her particular area of focus is forensic phonetics and psycholinguistics, based around Galactic Basic. She is also working towards a minor in journalism.

As an intern for Holonet News, Lym learned how to be resourceful, adaptable and tenacious in the pursuit of getting real journalists some Caf whilst they worked on actual stories. However, her time there also gave her some insight into how journalists develop their stories and work their sources, leaving her with some idea of how to go about basic journalism.

Lym possesses limited combat ability. She holds a certificate in Self Defence for Teenagers, from a club that her mother insisted she attend back in high school. Unfortunately, said club was more about protecting yourself from grabby teenagers than actually defending one's self from more serious threats.
