DESCRIPTION
The M-2B Mu-class shuttle is a light transport manufactured by a partnership between Cygnus Spaceworks and Sienar Fleet Systems. Essentially a civilian offshoot of the T-4A Lambda-class shuttle developed for the Galactic Empire, the Mu dispenses with much of the Lambda's military-grade materials and equipment, but is still a solid, highly capable design, having found a market with small-time spacelines, long-range scouts and even mercenaries.

The Mu is, in many ways, identical to the Lambda, although there are some notable differences, the most obvious being the lack of the Lambda's large vertical stabilizer, which served to improve thermal performance and house certain military-spec communications and sensor gear. The Mu is also somewhat lacking in passenger and cargo capacity compared to the Lambda, although it boasts better onboard amenities, increased consumable stores and more safety equipment, including a pair of 5-passenger escape pods in addition to the 6-passenger detachable cockpit pod. The ship is flown by a crew of 2, plus 14 passengers, with 4 separate sleeping cabins, 2 refreshers, a small lounge and a compact galley. Armament is not quite as good as the Lambda, notably omitting a rear turret, however the craft still boasts 6 forward-firing light laser cannons and a pair of medium cannons on the wingtips. Top speed is 50 MGLT with average maneuverability.

Overall, the Mu-class shuttle remains quite popular even after over a century of production, and has justified the continued existence of the Sienar-Cygnus partnership.

LEGALITY
Legal. Shuttles such as the Mu are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring a vessel from canon into our site's fanon.
