MAGNUS KASI

The ancient art of Magnus Kasi, or "Magnetic Fist", is an Outer Rim martial art, designed specifically for use against droids and cybernetically enhanced individuals. Though physically and mentally demanding, and exceedingly difficult to master, it remains popular in certain circles.

The origins of Magnus Kasi are believed to be far back in history, with the first recorded devotees of the art being elite Nikto warriors in the service of the Hutts during the war against Xim the Despot. Faced with the nigh-invulnerable legions of Xim's war-robots, and given inferior equipment by their Hutt masters with which to fight them, they improvised a fighting style which emphasized exploitation of the inherent weaknesses in mechanical systems. Ancient masters of Magnus Kasi were said to be able to disassemble a Guardian-class battle droid with a few well-placed open-handed strikes.

Magnus Kasi revolves primarily around an intimate knowledge of one's opponents. Devotees of the art are required to memorize the technical specifications and structural layout of hundreds of specific droid models, and must be able to perform precisely aimed and calculated strikes. These strikes are designed to weaken and de-align structural elements, loosen or break sensitive electronics, and otherwise cause damage to machines. The precise application of force necessary for the art is difficult to master, but incredibly effective when performed properly.

Magnus Kasi does not require Force sensitivity to learn and practice, but it can help.

The popularity and practice of Magnus Kasi has waxed and waned over the millennia. It saw its first major revival since the Hutt-Xim Wars during the Great Droid Revolt, and again during the Clone Wars, when elements of the style were incorporated into the physical combat training given to Clone Troopers of the Republic. Magnus Kasi was nearly forgotten during the Imperial era, but has since seen something of a renaissance, especially since the appearance of the Instance 13 dataplague.

INTENT
To create an anti-droid martial art for use by well disciplined characters who might go up against a lot of droids. Also to bring the moves of Magnus, Robot Fighter into Star Wars.

Sweet. Now Byron can really learn to punch like Mace Windu in the Clone Wars.
