Malon. It wasn't his birth name, nor a nickname given to him by others. It had been chosen by him to represent his new life in the Dark Jedi. However, we are getting ahead of ourselves. Let us backtrack many years to Malon's childhood, and learn more about this being that would become powerful in the ways of the dark side of the Force.

Malon was born Isaac, though his surname is still unknown, on the planet of Corellia. His mother gave birth to him at the very young age of fourteen and his birth father abandoned them soon after. Early on, Isaac had anxiety issues. His mother was forced to take him to school with her, as she had no family nearby to watch after him while she attended school, nor did she have the credits to pay for daycare or a babysitter. As an infant, being surrounded by loud, noisy, and invasive teenagers, scared Isaac more than anything. The lingering memories of those days faded, as humans hardly remember their time as an infant, however, these experiences would appear to him in nightmares in his younger years.

When he was nine, his mother married a local cantina owner. From the onset of their relationship, Isaac and his stepfather didn't like one another. This became apparent over the following months, as his new stepfather would often return home from drinking and beat him for no known reason at all. His mother tried to stop this once, but it only caused her new husband to lash out at her as well.

This was the beginning of the boy's dealings with dark side. His resentment at his mother for marrying such a harsh man, and his outrage at his stepfather fueled his daily life. It brought him focus and made him more alert; stronger. Unbeknownst to him, he was subconsciously tapping on the dark side for these things.

At the age of eleven, things got worse. Unable to support their family on his income, Isaac's stepfather moved the family to the Outer Rim and sold Isaac into slavery in the Kessel spice mines. The credits he collected from selling Isaac allowed him to open a new cantina in the Outer Rim world, and with only two people to support, the credits were sufficient now. It is unknown how his mother felt about this, but given her circumstances, it is assumed that she had very little say in the matter.

Kessel was living hell for Isaac; forced to work day and night in the dark spice mines that dotted the asteroid-shaped planet's surface. The mines were very cold, and often the thermal suits the slaves were given to negate this were defective. Many of the slaves were attacked or killed by the dangerous energy spiders living in the mines. Isaac himself had been attacked twice, only narrowly escaping the second encounter.

During his time in the mines, his personality hardened. He was no longer trusting of anyone, even the slaves his age who attempted to befriend him. Anger and disgust became common emotions for him. Sadness over his predicament, over his life, and over the fact that, despite all that had happened to him, he missed his mother also ruled his mind. Sometime after he turned fifteen, he was bought by a Hutt and forced to enlist in the Hutt Military.

Military life was different for him. He was talented and a good officer. His subconscious use of the dark side of the Force had kept him alive in situations where normal soldiers would've met a certain death. His military service brought him face to face with Jedi, and by watching them he learned of the existence of the Force; though what the Force was eluded him. After the Dark Jedi of the Bogan allied with the Hutt Empire, his strong connection to the Force was noticed and he was brought into their fold.

After joining the Dark Jedi, he abandoned his birth name and renamed himself "Malon", a name derived from the world "malice", as a way of beginning his new life.
