At first Malon's bubble held, showing only ripples as the barrage of pure dark side energy assaulted it. However, Malon soon found that holding back the lightning attack was more difficult than it seemed. He could not reinforce the bubble strong enough in all the places it was being effected. To make matters worse, Jev was now moving closer, intensifying the dark power further. Malon felt his defenses failing and brandished his lightsaber, its orange blade hissing into existence.

Finally, the barrier failed and the lightning tore past what was left of it, heading directly for Malon. Swiveling his blade into a defensive posture, Malon caught the lightning on the orange plasma, reflecting some of it back at his master. While he did so, however, some of the lightning arced off and struck his face, causing his eyes to change color as it was effected by the dark side energy.

Empowering his limbs with the dark side, Malon pushed himself forward, causing the lightning to continue to reflect back at Jev. It wasn't enough. The lightning was sapping his strength from him. At last his defense failed and the lightning hit him full force, throwing him against the back wall of the room. At first, Malon found himself flickering in and out of consciousness. Somehow, he'd managed to hold on to his lightsaber throughout the assault. Switching it off and replacing it on his belt, he made himself get to his feet, though he was barely able to stand without leaning on the nearby wall.

As Malon finally pushed himself up, Jev held his right hand up in front of his face, miniature blue bolts of lightning dancing in between his finger tips, "This is the power of the dark side, raw, unaltered, devastating. These two techniques will be your focus for now, only when I think you are able to perform them in a satisfactory manner will you learn anything new. That is all for today." With that he turned on the spot and left the room.

[OOC:RP out some time till he is decently proficient in both.]

Malon took several deep breaths after his master left, allowing the effects of the Force lightning barrage to wear off. He felt odd. As if all of his energy had been drained from his body. So this was the power of legendary Force lightning. His feelings, however, had changed. Anger was swelling in him, at his master....and at himself for showing such weakness in front of his master. He used this anger to focus the Force, to fill it up with raw power.

The tingling of the dark side entered his body, traveling from his toes to his head, and then spread out to his other limbs. As it did, his anger only increased. The dark side filled him up so full of its power that it began spilling over and the very room began to tremble. His anger turned to hatred. His master was stronger than him, was flaunting his power before him, and it made him sick.

Now the power of the dark side was so strong inside of him, he felt as if he might explode if he didn't release it. A protocol droid entered the room to do a routine cleaning. Choosing it as his target, Malon pointed his hands at it, fingers outstretched, and finally, he released the energy inside of him. Pure blue energy ripped from his fingertips, thundering across the room and striking the droid with such force that it flew into the nearby wall and exploded as its circuits were overloaded.

The feeling of Force lightning swept him up, as he began to unleash more on the walls. As he continued though, he caught himself and stopped.

"So this is the danger of using such power. You could lose your mind if you're swept up in it. Such fools as my master and the other Bogan would never see this, but I'm different. I will harness the true power of the dark side, but I will not be controlled by it." he thought silently.

Days past. Each day he spent hours, sometimes even skipping meals, training in the privacy of his training room. He found it slightly insulting that his master never once came to check on his progress, but he swept that frustration aside and let his training consume him.

The days turned into a week. Then two. After the two week mark, Malon could willingly summon Force lightning and sustain it without being sucked into the use of it. Furthermore, he could control the bursts and keep them sustained for several minutes before having to take a break. His Force barrier had also improved. He'd used several training droids to improve its efficiency.

Now he was ready to face his master. He left a message on his master's comm unit and then went to the training room. It had been two and a half weeks. He'd hoped his master would be pleased.
