DESCRIPTION
The Mankvim-814 light interceptor is a combat spacecraft which was developed and manufactured by Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies and primarily sold to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Meant to be cheap and easy to produce in large quantities, the Mankvim-814 was not the most numerically important CIS starfighter of the war, but was nevertheless fielded in relatively large numbers.

The Mankvim-814 light interceptor is a small, stubby craft, 10.7 meters in length and consisting primarily of an over-sized reactor assembly linked to a powerful main drive unit and secondary maneuvering thrusters. This arrangement gives the type exceptional speed and maneuverability, rivaling later Imperial-era designs such as the TIE/IN interceptor. In most other respects, however, the Mankvim-814 is fairly lackluster; its lozenge-shaped hull lacks adequate structural reinforcement, for example, meaning that any damage sustained during combat is likely to make the tiny craft lose structural integrity and break up. The type's tiny, cramped cockpit - which is primarily meant to accommodate droid pilots, but which can be occupied and operated by organics if need be - has simplified instrumentation even many veteran pilots can have trouble interpreting. Armament consists of only 2 light laser cannons.

The Mankvim-814 lacks a hyperdrive, although this is fairly typical in starfighters of its era.

During the war, the CIS produced millions of Mankvim-814s, with Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies providing self-contained, highly modular production lines for the type which could be set up nearly anywhere. Notably, during the Separatist occupation of Utapau, several lines were set up in the Grand Hall of the Trader's Guild, churning out thousands of fighters which participated in the subsequent battle. Similar factories sprouted up on worlds throughout the CIS. Although meant to be flown by specially programmed B1 battle droids, which many were, the Mankvim-814 could also be flown by a competent organic pilot. The type primarily served in defensive squadrons, and was also provided to local militias and CIS allies.

After the end of the Clone Wars, the Mankvim-814 was largely discontinued, although a few production lines sold to the Corporate Sector Authority during the war continued to build small batches of the type for their Picket Fleet for a few decades afterward. In the present day, the type is relatively rare, although large caches dating back to the Clone Wars do occasionally surface.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Mankvim-814 light interceptors are combat-rated spacecraft, and are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To bring a vessel from canon into our site's fanon.
