DESCRIPTION

The Mark IV is an archaic droid model that has been out of production for at least several centuries. Its original function was to aid in the planning and execution of complicated architectural projects, finding much use as dedicated city planners on ecumenopolis planets such as Hosnian Prime and Coruscant, where the urban sprawl was far too dense and complicated for an organic architect to design efficiently. Due to its excellent processing and attention to detail, some units were also utilized in manufacturing made-to-order luxury goods and complex tech, a most notable example being Jedi Lightsabers.

The Mark IV possesses finely tuned focus and dexterity, allowing it to perform several tasks at once. It is flexible enough to maneuver through scaffolding and cramped construction areas with ease, while its wrist-mounted plasma torch allows it to quickly repair or adjust while examining a site. Due to the dangerous conditions it often works in, it is capable of remaining operational after receiving severe damage, such as loss of limbs or decapitation. Its durability has allowed some models to continue operating for centuries.

Its verbobrain databanks are capable of housing countless architectural styles and manufacturing methods. While wiping the unit‘s memory for security purposes was common, allowing a Mark IV to retain an archive of past projects boosted its productivity and problem solving skills significantly. However, a poorly maintained unit left with intact memory may degrade over time. Its blueprints can become scrambled, causing the development of dangerous design quirks. Examples include staircases to nowhere, or doors that lead to a ten storey drop. These flaws led to the Mark IV going out of fashion for use in large scale construction projects, in favor of less complex droids with more stable personality matrixes.

LEGALITY
Legal for both civilian and corporate use.

INTENT
Primary intent is to make the Mark IV available as a PC, and to bring a mostly obsolete but iconic droid to the site canon.

RESTRICTIONS
No legal restrictions, but the Mark IV is a rather rare antique, with very few circulating in collectors’ circles. Many remaining models are only pieces, which alone are difficult to find and highly expensive. Restoring a working unit takes a great amount of luck, determination and credits.
