Commander John Ferrick sat in the RTT 89 Windowmaker checking the charge of blaster rifle. He let it rest against his Kushari made powered armor. The mission: Secure a VIP from a crash site in the middle of the jungle. The Men: 8 hand picked men, plus Commander Ferrick himself. Ferrick was the Commanding Officer of the First Special Forces group was the man HQ had selected for this mission. The 117 year old Gurlanin was a combat expert, and was going to do this mission right. He glanced around at his men, they knew what was down there. What they didn't know was that Commander Ferrick was their secret weapon, being immune to the force.

The newly commissioned officer was going over his equipment one last time, it would be the last time until after the mission, when they got back. Most young officers and soldiers would replace that last part with, "if we got back," but not Patrick Epps, had faith in the Special Forces Commander. Even though Patrick was only a deck officer in the Navy, he felt obligated to volunteer for this mission, he felt that if he proved himself here he would have a prestigious career. Patrick did not accept the mission without hesitation, the location of the crashed ship was on a moon that bordered Imperial and Alliance territory, that would have been the reason why the extraction was organized so quickly, or maybe it was the Marsh Haunts. The Lieutenant wasn't fearless, but he wasn't going to let his fear control his actions, he kept a clear mind and then took a look at his surroundings.

The squad was made up of: one Commander, two Lieutenants (including himself), two Sergeants, two Corporals and two Privates; for a total of two fireteams and a squad leader. The Commander, John Ferrick, had a reputation for looking out for his squad, especially during these type of missions that require no more time than actually necessary to complete the mission. Patrick had faith in the Commander, somehow he knew they would survive, he just knew it. Suddenly he realized that everyone in the shuttle was keeping to theirselves, he thought it would be nice to break the ice.

"I'll buy each one of you two rounds once we get back," he said as he leaned back in his seat, "paid for by the dignitary of course. Is anyone betting on the opening gladiator ceremonies?"

The drop ship smelled of sweat and fear, despite carrying a payload of mostly Special Forces. They were going into unknown territory, and these men were trained to fight soldiers. Not force beasts. Boh wasn’t different from the rest of the enlisted on the ship, and worried about the marsh haunts. Specifically, their power over the force. But that wasn’t even the end of it. He wasn’t even sure his ESR9 sniper rifle could take one of those haunts down.

Outfitted in your standard alliance MCU, any sign of Boh was just about hidden beneath the armor and helmet. Specialty goggles of course were provided; along with an oxygen filter suped up by the military to protect Boh from a handful of toxic gasses. After all the equipment, Boh looked more like a bio trooper than a forward observer.

Not even a glance was given to the lieutenant offering rounds on the dignitaries’ behalf, his eyes pouring over a datapad one last time in reference to the mission. It wasn’t until a direct question was asked that Boh felt compelled to respond. ”I don’t know what you’re talking about” Came a truthful reply, just before Boh turned his head around again with the intent on ending his contribution to the conversation. He didn’t know these men, and while he’d watch their backs, but he wasn’t interested in chit chat.

”Five minutes!”

The pilot howled, Boh’s eyes flicking up to the commanding officer, and his ears awaited any final instructions.

The Marsh Haunt pack-leader looked up at the sky and saw a transport speeding towards the crash site where their mission was. He let out a howl, using the right tone to prepare his pack for an attack, and then he used his force powers to instill fear in each of the occupants of the speeding towards the surface. He then created a doppleganger to replicate the crash site, including a copy of the ambassador.

<<Turn back>> he used the force and played with the rescue team <<it's unsafe>>

Finally, the pack-leader stood up on it's hind legs and created a force whirlwind, knocking the transport out of the sky and into the forest. He led his pack closer to the new crash site, instilling fear in the survivors of the crash.

"Kriff..." Ferrick muttered to himself, he was in his Gurlanin form. He looked like a sleek black wolf, with four elongated teeth. He straightened his back and shook out of his powered armor. The commander stood on his hind legs and sniffed, and noticed that suddenly the rest of his men were suddenly uneasy. He could smell the creatures, then the commander remorphed into his Human form and got into his jumpsuit quickly. "Come on!" he cried, not bothering to get back into his armor. He noticed one of the men had died, so he grabbed his pack and emptied it. He gathered his gear, and began distributing his extra ammo. HE stuffed as many of the 60mm grenades as he could into the pack and handed his Rocket Launcher to a soldier. "Rally up, we gotta get to the senator!" he ordered, grabbing his blaster rifle and holstering his pistol.

The Lieutenant was about to explain what the opening gladiator ceremonies were, when he stopped talking. It's not that he wanted to stop talking, he was suddenly afraid of the planet, but he didn't show it. He closed his eyes and tried to shut out the thoughts when he heard, <<Turn back, it's unsafe>>. He tightened his grip on his vibroblade and made sure all of his equipment was secure and his armor was ready to do its job. All of a sudden the dropship was knocked out of the sky and into the ground, Epps flew around as it crashed. He regained his composure and saw the Commander take the equipment from a soldier that appeared to be dead, Epps knew they had to move out. He followed his Commander and the special operations team through the forest, he kept his vibroblade held in front of him and one hand on his blaster; he would make sure that nobody else would die.

"Private Raal," Epps said as they took cover in the ship, "how far are we from the objective?

The force is a powerful tool of a mysterious nature far beyond Boh current grasp. And while he was a strong, courageous soldier, he was not immune to the effects to the effects of the force, and haunting it could perform. It was as such that Boh found the familiar gut wrenching feeling work its way into his mind. Slowly at first, but within moments Boh’s courage became locked in a spiritual battle of wills. It wasn’t until the ship began to shake that Boh’s mind snapped from psychological battle, and into the emergency of his transport hurling towards the ground.

Impact was an unmemorable occasion. This was due to the lack of consciousness Boh experienced upon impact, only waking shortly after to see the wreckage. His commander was already picking the equipment off the downed soldier, though his appearance had changed into an almost unrecognizable form. In fact, Boh was shocked at first, before his pre mission briefing had reminded him that this could happen. And like a good soldier, Boh brought himself to his shaky feet, and moved on without a question, or a hint of hesitation.

No order given, but it was standard procedure for a perimeter to be setup around the crash site. Boh would lead the example of this by quickly make his way to cover just outside and preparing his sights. It was obvious they were in hostile territory at this point, and it would only be appropriate that special forces not be ambushed. It was bad for their reputation.

”Rally up!”

Came the call, but Boh was hesitant to take his sights off the scenery around them. “Recommend that we establish a secure area, and assess damage to the dropship and equipment!” Boh respectfully responded. He wasn’t about to disobey a direct order, but couldn’t help but that the crash site needed to be secure and stock had to be taken before proceeding to the crash site.

” "how far are we from the objective?” Asked the lieutenant.

Boh dropped his gaze for just a moment, retrieving a small holo display and running a quick scan of their position. “Looks like were about two clicks east of the objective sir!”

The Marsh Haunts made their way to the crash site, the entire pack of 15 were now looking down on the rescue party, they were waiting for the order from the pack leader who was already howling into the sky. This tone was for a preemptive attack, two Marsh Haunts began running towards the rescue party while talking to their enemy.

<<Don't shoot>>
<<Just step outside and it will be over>>
<<Your Commander is leading you to ceartin death>>
<<Turn Away,>> the pack-leader tried telling the commanding officer but for some reason he wasn't connecting.

(((Saber edit your post.

Patrick jumped out of the ship, landing near Private Raal. He is a Naval Officer, not a Special Forces officer, but he knew what he had to do. He had confidence in the Commander, had took his words seriously as he aimed towards the path. He noticed the two Marsh Haunts heading towards them and showered them with his blaster, his other hand held his vibroblade in case they got closer; they didn't.

(I was asked to NPC the diplomat. And I am keeping tabs on the thread. I just didn't see the point of jumping in until you got remotely close to the site.)

(Allie, haz a point. Also, sorry for the delay. Got caught up IRL)

"Alright boys, look we gotta get that diplomat and go home." Ferrick said, stating the obvious. "We're down in the middle of unknown territory with scary ass creatures out to get us. I know you guys are probably scared, and you should be. But if we keep our eyes down range, fingers steady on the trigger and we all go home in one piece, hooah?" Ferrick gave his pep talk, speaking with confidence. "Alright, Raal, you take point. Lieutenant, stay on my ass. The rest of you, fall in behind Raal and Epps. Then move forward!"

Patrick let the squad go in front of him and began following when they began moving. Since he was on rear security he was responsible for their most vulnerable flank and was tasked with protection of the main body. Even though he had to watch the rear flank, he had to move forward with the squad which presented a difficult task to a Naval Officer. Even though he moved with the sword in his weak hand and his blaster in his dominate hand, he still felt a little worried despite the Commander's speech. But this fear soon went away and Patrick began thinking about joining the special forces after this mission, if I survive, he reminded himself as he put his sword in its sheath and took a better grip on his blaster.

As the Marsh Hants moved forward with fearless abandon, Boh had already crafted a strategy to grab the ships minigun and fight off what could become a vicious onslaught. However the quick response suppressive fire from Lieutenant Epps appeared sufficient to Boh’s amazement. By judgment of the Marsh Haunts reaction to blaster fire, they were fire more fragile that Boh anticipated, quickly alleviating any fear the sniper had.

So when the commander gave Boh point duties, he was more than willingly to oblige. His confidence had peaked, and even the powers of the Marsh Haunt’s would not bring down Boh’s soaring courage.

“Yes sir” was all the private responded with, moving quickly to the front of the pack. He’d lead the way, and he’d do it with tactical prowess. His movements were sleek and stealthy, yet speedy so as to keep the squad moving. They would move from cover to cover, with only minimal stops at each location for a brief surveillance of the area. An ambush would not be welcome, and Boh was becoming more and more trigger happy as he delved deeper into the forest. At their current pace, they'd arrive at the objective in no time.

As the squad advanced onto the crash site, the pack-leader watched as they moved with caution, finally they arrived at the crash site; the Marsh Haunts let out a loud howl, it was time to attack. The entire pack rushed the squad from all sides, the pack leader himself went for the rear soldier; without him they could not escape. As they ran closer, they inforced fear into their opponents and continued howling.
