The Story So Far . . .
dbjxey2-64c13a81-c366-4c61-ac1d-03772656522c.png
In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient spacefaring civilization. In the decades that followed, these mysterious artifacts revealed startling new technologies, enabling travel to the furthest stars. The basis for this incredible technology was a force that controlled the very fabric of space and time.
They called it the greatest discovery in human history.
The civilizations of the galaxy call it... MASS EFFECT.

In the year 2183, Commander Shepard of the Systems Alliance military, and the first human Council Spectre, uncovered a conspiracy by the rogue Spectre, the turian Saren Arterius. Saren was plotting to instigate conflict between the human Alliance and the synthetic geth in what is known as the Eden Prime War.
While on the surface it appeared that Saren’s purpose was to overthrow the Council and act on his extreme speciesism, Shepard learned that in truth Saren was merely being used by the entity called Sovereign.

A member of the Reapers, a highly advanced and intelligent machine race of biomechanical starships, Sovereign intended to return its kind to the Milky Way galaxy from the fringes of dark space.

Commander Shepard and the crew of the SSV Normandy pursued Saren to acquire the Conduit; the means by which Saren could bring the Reapers back to the galaxy. After discovering that the Conduit is a mass relay and a gateway to the Citadel, Shepard arrives at the Citadel in time to face off with Saren.
The two are not alone in their fight. Sovereign has arrived with a fleet of geth ships to storm the Citadel, squaring off against the combined armada of Council forces. The united front is enough to repel the geth, destroy Sovereign and defeat Saren.
The Reapers are contained...for the time being…

One month after the Battle of the Citadel, the Normandy is attacked by unknown assailants. The ship is destroyed, the survivors fleeing in escape pods, though Commander Shepard is not among them. Dying in space, Shepard is yet rescued by the human paramilitary group Cerberus.
Cerberus plugged Shepard into a revival program called the Lazarus Project. Though only Cerberus knows what Cerberus is doing. Their subject, Shepard, can only wait and find out…

The year is now 2184 CE, one year after the Battle of the Citadel.
The Citadel Council has largely covered up the involvement of Sovereign in the attack, placing blame solely on the geth. The Reapers, then, remain a myth.
The Council maintains its territory as it always has, though with an increased focus on strengthening what it owns. In a sense, that means expanding.
The Systems Alliance honors Commander Shepard as a fallen hero of humanity and beyond, and echoes its Council counterpart by bolstering its borders and looking beyond.
The Terminus Systems remain tense, interpreting the reactions of both their contemporaries as the prelude to aggressive expansion.
Caught in between is the Attican Traverse. The inhabitants of this region, among them colonists from all over and from different species, value knowledge and exploration over power and expansion.
They are not alone…

Ll1IR5w.jpeg

In the Attican Traverse, situated in between the star clusters the Maroon Sea and the Armstrong Nebula, is the uncharted Tycho Expanse. This star cluster once served as a buffer zone between the Batarian Hegemony and everyone else. With the threat of direct engagement among all sides, the area was never touched.
Recently, however, the Batarians have withdrawn to consolidate their power inwardly. Their rivals have since lost interest in the cluster itself, in part due to reports of a roving black hole; though where governments look elsewhere, corporations and explorers’ guilds and other entities look upon.
Issued by members of the Systems Alliance, sponsored by members of the Citadel Council, the Ember Sky starship has set off from the Citadel to explore the uncharted territory within the Attican Traverse.
The Ember Sky contains all manner of group and individual, from a contracted security force to self-employed mercenaries; a team of scientists to independent researchers; scouts and scavengers; diplomats and doctors; archaeologists and astronomers; cartographers and colonists; and just about anyone in between from this species and that one.
The mission? Reach the Tauri star system within the Tycho Expanse star cluster and set down upon the planet codenamed NS7-535. Determine if the planet is viable for further exploration, expansion and exploitation for both the Citadel Council and the Systems Alliance. Report back.
Though, as many familiar with the Attican Traverse would say, there is a fourth X: “extermination”. Whether that might mean the home team or the away team remains to be seen…

Voram Braturius

maxresdefault.jpg

Name: Voram Braturius

Species: Turian

Age: 40

Affiliation: Primarch Talus Braturius | Hastatim | Praetorian Security Force

Homeworld: Palaven

History: Born on Palaven, the homeworld of the Turian Hierarchy, Voram Braturius understood status from the start. His father, Talus Braturius, held the traditional title of Primarch for a war-torn star cluster of Turian space.

Though in time the battles dwindled down, Voram's father was never relieved of his title, even though his contemporaries might look down on the man who occupied a station that no longer saw conflict on the frontier as befitted a marcher lord or marquis in human terms.

Nonetheless, Voram grew up knowing violence, but not in the way a krogan does. This turian understood how fighting was a means to an end and not the end itself; how it had to be controlled and contained, properly utilized like a tool from the belt as much as a pistol from the holster.

To that end, Voram joined the Turian military, piloting vessels as much as touching down on worlds from dropships. He pointed the rifle at organics and synthetics as a soldier, crippled colonies and citizenry as a hastatim, and amid the tiring turmoil he elected to put the endless warfare behind him by determining to defend instead of destroy.

Some turians might have interpreted that as an avenue into C-Sec. They were fools. Voram was not interested in policing the domain of the Citadel Council. He was turian first and foremost. So he joined the Praetorian Security Force; a turian PMC who focused on policing outside areas, colonies and the like, over armed conflict.

It has served Voram well so far. He is a turian not afraid to get his hands dirty, not shy of the color of blood but, nevertheless, he is tired of trying to scrub himself clean of it. Generally the only way to stay fresh is to stay away from the garbage...or take it out.

Karel’Nelvaan

__just___hunter___is_fine____by_metalfluffyninja-d37jbgw.jpg

(OOC: This is fan art is done by someone’s else.)

Name: Karel’Nelvaan (formerly vas Tonbay)

Species: Quarian

Age: 26

Affiliation: Formerly the Migrant Fleet | Currently independent salvager/secretly a vigilante)

Homeworld: None but was born aboard the Quarian live ship Chayym

History: Born in the Migrant Fleet, Karel lost his parents due to a Batarian pirate raid at an early age. As a result he was raised by a family friend, an old Fleet marine. Often growing up Karel would search up all kinds of information on the Externet, becoming something of a knowledge seeker. He especially became fascinated with other cultures including the ancient Prothen much to his peers’ shock and resentment.

As a result Karel often got into trouble due to fights with other kids. While not exactly approving of Karel’s interests, his guardian, Vom'Feezh admired the boy’s tenacity and made it his purpose to teach the former to be strong and serve the Fleet loyally. By the time of Pilgrimage at age eighteen Karel was eager to explore the galaxy. However, his wanderings proved to be an eye opener in more ways than one.

Despite enjoying many of the sights he came across, Karel was repeatedly persecuted in both Citadel space and the Traverse. These experiences enbittered the young man before he found sufficient salvage to return to the Fleet with. Becoming part of the Tonbay crew, Karel served as a Fleet Marine for the next several years, earning a reputation as a skilled demolition expert and marksman.

At age twenty four he earned the rank of sergeant, leading a squad. It was during one patrol on a remote world in the Terminus Systems where his unit was ambushed and was wiped out by a warlord’s forces. Only Karel survived much to his shame and was captured and repeatedly tortured by the local mercenaries before escaping weeks later. Yet instead of returning to the Fleet, the marine chose to remain missing in action’ becoming a self-imposed exile.

For the next two years Karel posing as a simple salvager, in order to hunt anyone he deems as criminals and oppressors via sabotage or assassination. Recently he was hired for a Citadel sponsored expedition secretly using it as an opportunity to fund his vendetta.

Validor Braturius

f8ee3b99becbcf8bc3a40bd6e1e40841.jpg

Name: Validor Braturius

Species: Turian

Age: 52

Affiliation: Spectres

Homeworld: Palaven

History: Born on Palaven, the homeworld of the Turian Hierarchy, Validor Braturius would learn to bear the burden of being of being the firstborn. His father, Talus Braturius, held the traditional title of Primarch for a war-torn star cluster of Turian space.

A veteran of the First Contact War, Validor would be amongst the first Turians to make war with the humans, having helped take the world of Shanxi, that's where he made a name for himself. It would also be Shanxi, where the young Captain met his worst defeat when the humans responded and evicted them from the colony world. Returning to Turian space, the young warrior would prepare for an all-out war that would never happen.

Several years would go by before he received the tap to join fellow Turians Nihilus and Saren amongst the Spectres. Seldomly working with them, he grew to only really know them by word of mouth and deed alone. Eager to prove himself, the veteran would spend decades amongst the Spectres running solo ops or joint strikes across the known universe. Having been called to what he believed, was a higher cause, Validor would sacrifice his claim to any of his fathers holdings and entrust the future of their family to his little brother, Voram.

Despite being absent for most of his younger brothers life, constantly called by the song of war, he would constantly send messages and trophies to young Voram, and he could be no more proud than when his younger brother joined the military. A staunch veteran, he is happily the first into any warzone and is willing to die for the cause. With the death of Nihilus and Saren's turning, Validor has now begun a galaxy-wide investigation at the behest of the Council to locate and remove any potential traitors, be they Spectre or otherwise.
