DESCRIPTION
In recent history, Mon Cala underwent a civil war between Quarren and Mon Calamari factions. This war saw the reapparance of the historic Free Dac Volunteers Corps, a Quarren separatist engineering group, to combat the Mon Calamari-aligned Mon Cala Shipyards. After the end of the war, the newly-crowned King Rikkles Le'Fam ordered the two rival companies to work together to create a new cruiser as a symbol of the world's unity. The MC35d is the result of this order, a frigate jointly designed by Quarren and Mon Calamari engineers.

The MC35d Frigate is a light frigate which was designed by the Free Dac Volunteer Corps and Mon Cala Shipyards. A successor to the aging MC30c frigate, the MC35d nonetheless shares many of its technical specifications with its predecessor. The series was designed as an escort carrier and light warship: quick, nimble, and armed well enough to engage a Star Destroyer. What it had in speed in weapons, however, it lacked in defensive capabilities; the MC30c was lightly armored and shielded, leaving it quite vulnerable to starfighters and bombers.

To compensate for that, vessel was armed with a complement of cluster bomb launchers. These magnetized grenades were proximity-activated, designed to ignite against swarms of Imperial starfighters as they assaulted. While effective against swarms of TIE fighters or droid starfighters, the volatility of their design and indiscriminate nature made them see little use outside of the Galactic Civil War and the Resistance War.

The MC35d is a response to those perceived failures. In the interceding years, no massive empire or droid fleet has invaded Dac; the cluster-bomb strategy appeared to be a relic of history. Contemporary Quarren and Mon Cala engineers sacrificed the heavier weapons complement of the MC30c, cutting the bomb launchers turbolaser armament by half to allow room for more double the shielding without sacrificing the speed of the vessel.

The MC35d is, thus, a still-speedy frigate with a powerful arsenal. While it is not the same master of weapons as its predecessor, its stronger shielding allows it to stand up in longer battles against better-armed vessels. This shielding, combined with its agility, makes it an ideal vessel for trade interdiction, anti-piracy operations, and hit-and-run tactics against larger, better-armed foes. With cluster bombs, proton torpedoes, and laser cannon fire at its disposal, it is a quite adaptable vessel, as well, able to fulfill many functions as a ship-of-the-line. Whereas the MC30c was a necessary frigate to even the odds against an Empire that vastly outgunned them, the MC35d is a frigate that adds a rapidly responsive element to an existing fleet structure.

LEGALITY
Restricted. The MC35d is classified as a heavy capital ship under Galactic law. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To create a modern frigate for Mon Cala based on the canon MC30c Frigate.

RESTRICTIONS
The MC35d is a capital ship, and cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. These vessels may be used as faction assets.

I don't think the Free Dac Volunteers would still be a thing at this point in history. They were a Clone Wars phenomenon.

Also, if you have a hyperdrive, you're going to want to include a navicomputer.

Edited to included Navicomputer - fair point with Free Dac Volunteers. My thinking was (and I've written a few posts to this effect) that Mon Cala has recently undergone another civil war between Quarren and Mon Calamari. Given that, I thought it would be fair to assume that the Free Dac Volunteers would have existed at least during this period of war and its aftermath, which is when this vessel would have been created.

If there's any way I can or should edit the post to make it more in line with site canon, though, just let me know.

I would include that bit of lore in the description, if that's the case.

Updated with an intro paragraph to explain - let me know if that covers the issue well.
