DESCRIPTION
The Ministry-class shuttle is a short range light passenger and cargo transport which, despite its advanced age, can still be found toiling away in the service of various governmental and commercial interests in the Galaxy's backrocket systems. Entering service at the tail end of the Mandalorian Crusades, the Ministry was commissioned by the Galactic Republic as a standard in-system transport for various administrative and military services. Built by Zentine Dynamics, it pioneered a number of unique features which would be copied by later designs, chiefly the various classes of shuttle built by Cygnus Spaceworks, who would incorporate the Ministry's folding wing concept into many of their products.

The Ministry-class shuttle was, even by the standards of its day, a basic design meant to be cheap and simple to operate above most other concerns. 20 meters in length, it is operated by a pilot and copilot, with room for 36 passengers, 15 tons of cargo and a week's worth of consumables. The ship lacks a hyperdrive, and is therefore limited to in-system work; maximum sublight speed is 40 MGLT. The Ministry does have light deflector shields for defense, however, and perhaps surprisingly a pair of light laser cannons mounted in the nose, although one has to believe such a ship's only advantage in combat would be the element of surprise.

Despite their underwhelming specifications, the Ministry-class shuttle has proven resilient, and late-model examples can still be found hanging on in various parts of the Galaxy.

LEGALITY
Legal. Shuttles such as the Ministry are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring a vessel from Legends into our site's fanon.
