Ussej Stood in the middle of the training room set aside for himself and Mordecai Tolen Dagda. Again, he knew nothing of the Apprentice he'd taken on, which was just the way he liked it. It let him have no preconcieved notions about the person. Which, in his mind, made for better training.

But at the current point in time, he was waiting on Mordecai to arrive. He wasn't late, Ussej was just early. Most people would wonder just why he was early, considering the fact that he wasn't the Epitome of a Bendu. Well he simply wanted to try to live up to his father's name. That and the room was too bland for his liking.

Attached to one wall was a large desk, filled with his favorite books and records of the past. Those would come in handy for training. At least, his style of training. On the left wall, many different swords hung on display. Some were short, some were longer than he was tall, some required two hands, while others needed just one. But the biggest difference between the ones on the wall and the one he held in his hand, which in itself was just simply a normal sword and no longer than 3 feet, was that his was sharp and made to inflict damage. The weapons on the wall were dull and for practice use only.

On the right wall, there was merely fruits and foods of other kind so that they could continue practicing and take a break to eat if they needed one. With the fruits were two comfortable chairs so that the could sit while they ate. And on the wall that housed the door, only paintings were there. Paintings of famous Bendu, of Famous locations, and a framed copy of his Great-Grandfather's proverbs.

But all that was merely there and was not in the way. The room was large enough so that they would have plenty of space to actually train in. And for the moment, it looked too large. But that was for the moment. Right now, there was but one person inside the room, waiting for the second. And Ussej was taking advantage of his time without an Apprentice by moving slowly, dueling an imaginary enemy in slow motion. He moved his hands and sword carefully in time with his feet, imagining what his enemy would do in response to his movments and moving to respond to the imaginary foe.

(((I changed his last name FYI, it says it in my sig)))

Mordecai was tentative at best about his fist training 'session' as he called it. He had been cramming his head with all the information about the Bendu as he could for the past month. It was all very... different, from what Mordecai was used to. Comming from a secluded village, and raised away from the going on of Kal'Shabbol, Mordecai knew nothing above the basics of the Bendu. None the less, he would try and learn as much as he could in these sessions...

As he made his way into the room, he glanced around quickly, taking survey of his surroundings, before his eyes moved to the man in the center, who was fending off an oponent of no threat. He watched the man for a few minutes at the door, his red hair tied in a ponytail, his robes loosened to casual appearance. Finding the man had some serious skill with the blade, Mordecai sighed a quick relief. He had hoped that his... master, How he hated calling an unproven man that, would be one of skill in the blade; Mordecai's real passion.

After a few more moments of waiting, Mordecai moved further into the room and made notice of himself, his eyes studying the weapons on the rack. Even from here, he could tell they were dulled for practice.

Ussej sheathed his sword, the sound of the metal on the sheath was a bit chilling to those not accustomed to it, but he was sure that his Apprentice would be at least somewhat familiar with swords and all of that jazz.

Turning, he smiled and bowed slightly. As he rose, the blue semi-robe around him flowed slightly due to the movement of the sword more than because of his bow.

"Hey there! You must be Mordecai! Pleasure to finally meet you!"

"Uhh..." Mordecai stammered, not expecting such casual demeanor from his teacher. Bowing in the same manner, Mordecai held the position for a measured amount longer then his master, which he had been taught to do from his father. "Master... Ussej?" He asked, wondering if this was the son of the famous Bendu.

"I hope so! I don't need an identity crisis now of all times!", Ussej joked, chuckling a little. But he suddenly grew very serious and much like what one would expect a Bendu Knight to act.

"But seriously, Welcome to your training, Mordecai. I've heard good things about you while roaming the halls and fields. You've made quite a few of your fellow Hopefuls jealous with your skills with a Sword! But I digress now."

His friendly smile never faded as he continued speaking.

"First of all, tell me a little bit about yourself. Don't give me your whole lifestory, we'll be here all day. Just...Something so I can get to know you a little better, okay? Then we'll delve into the wonderful world of philosophy!"

The last sentance was, of course, sarcastic. But only to a degree. The first bit of the training would deal with the Philosophy of their Order and what certain things in their Culture represent. And that, hopefully, would flow easily into weapons and combat training.

(((Danke Sir Aaron)))

Mordecai couldn't help but crack a slight smile at Ussej's casual demeanor, it seemed his mentor would be someone he could get along with outside of training, and that was crucial. However, his face went expresionless when he boasted about his skill with the blade. Humility, he thought to himself. Any other situation and he would return the boast gleefully, but it was not a good quality to be boastfull, so he stayed himself. "Thank you, Sir Ussej." He spoke in a measured, respectable voice, and he dipped into a shallow, curt bow.

Sighing, he began to speak about himself. He told him about his village, and how far removed it was from the Bendu. He told him how he grew up as an outcast, simply because he wished to be different. He told him how swordplay was his main escape. He told him how his tattoos came to be. About six or so minutes later, he was finished. Very consice, as was instructed.

He was silent for a moment before sighing sadly. "I hate philosphy."

Ussej nodded as he listened to Mordecai tell him the bare essentials of his life. And to be honest, was surprised at how it paralleled his own in some respects; Mostly the Swordplay and Wish to be different.

"Philosophy can be...boring sometimes. But it's important. Besides, My way of teaching is a bit....unorthodox! Who knows, maybe you'll learn something completely useless that'll save your life one day!"

Ussej laughed at the contradiction of the sentence. But he cleared his throat so he could get back down to business.

"Every person's different. We all go through different experiences. It's how we form opinions and what makes us who we are. And because of that, we all view somethings differently than others. So what does the Code mean to you, Mordecai? What message lies beyond the words speaks to you?"

The words ran through Mordecai's head again and again, he could not put a meaning to the code. It just was, it was a beacon, something to light your way. It held no secret meaning for him. That's when it hit him... "It is a guide. No matter what your goals are, you can count on it to light the correct path. It lends you all the strength you require of it. It aids you in your pursuits. A companion unobtrusive, but always there." His voice had drifted to a whisper, he had never realised the power the code held for him. It was something of an epiphany. "That is what it I see."

As Ussej listened, he was careful to take note just what Mordecai was saying and where he fell in the "Training Demographic" because of it. From what he could tell so far, Mordecai was your average Bendu when it came to the Code. But that's only considering it's meaning to him, of course.

"So according to you, the Code is a beacon of light in the dark? A lighthouse. Well, the good news is, you're not a freak like me. Bad news is, your interpretation of the Code is the common one, so you're not a freak like me!", he joked. "But seriously, your interpretation is one thing you should never change. No matter what. What you see, what you hear, Everything is yours to have and no one else's. Much like your opinion."

Ussej cleared his throat before standing and walking to the side of the room with the weapons. He took a sword from it's mount on the wall and held it in both hands horizontally, staring at it, not turning back to look at his Apprentice.

"So tell me; Because your interpretation is a sort of Defensive one, Are you the same? Do you shy away from aggression and stay Calm all of the time like some damned Jedi?"

Mordecai listened intently to his master's words. They ringed so true, and he felt humbled. That was, until he openly insulted him. "You call me a coward? How dare you!" He growled, standing up suddenly and drawing his blade. The metalic cry of the blade reverberated against the walls, and was pointed in an agressive stance at Ussej. "What right do you have to belittle another? You are no more important then I." He added, even more enraged. "Heredity means nothing!"

(((Yea, so I'm not looking for an actual fight persay, but it's Mordecai's nature.)))

"Put your sword down!", he said sternly. Turning around, the training sword in one hand, the tip of the blade just above the floor, Ussej stared at his apprentice. He didn't want to fight Mordecai any more than he wanted to fight a rock. It served no purpose other than to damage a sword.

"My name-- My Father's name-- has nothing to do with importance!"

Sighing, trying to calm himself down, Ussej placed the training sword back in it's place on the wall. He ran his hand through his hair, before looking back at his apprentice.

"Well, I think we can safely say that I don't have to teach you to be more aggressive! Now we just need to learn how to focus it into something useful!"

Mordecai was a little of hilter at Ussej's supreme control. It seemed he had brushed it off like a dust mite on his shoulder. Mordecai was not so easily calmed, however, and for a long moment he held his blade firm, before relaxing his shoulders and sheathing his blade. Closing his eyes, he went through some mental exercises he had developed in seclusion, and brought his anger to a controlable level.

"Apologies." He finaly managed to say, through clenched teeth. How he had been so close to striking Ussej disturbed him. "I am ready to continue."

"Good! Then you won't mind if we meditate.", he said simply. Ussej didn't want to risk his apprentice being a loose cannon like he was. He didn't care if he got hurt doing the things he did, but if someone else got hurt because he didn't tell them not to act like him, then he couldn't forgive himself!

"Now, Sit down and get comfy. We'll be here all day until we find a way for you to focus that agression easily instead of just letting loose.", Ussej said as he sat on the floor, cross-legged. Truth be told, most Bendu meditated by sitting on their knees....Ussej just couldn't stand that kind of discomfort.

"Now, Think about everything that's every royally pissed you off. Everything the Bogan's thrown at you to make you see it's way of things. Everything and Anything that just breaks the straw that broke the Nerf's back."

(((Sorry for neglecting this, I have a fair amount on my plate ATM)))

Simply nodding in acknowledgment, Mordecai took a seat on the cold marble floor, his legs crossed underneath him. Resting his hands on his thighs, he slowly gathered himself. His breathing became very slow, almost undistinguishable. His focus on the outer world dimmed, and he soon simply saw colours and patterns. "I am calm." He whispered, a signal to his master that he was ready for further instruction on this meditation.
