DESCRIPTION
The Ubrikkian answer to the Corellian YT series, the MS series of ships are tough, dependable freighters that, while perhaps less refined, can be purchased for a fraction of the cost. Built around the use of the standard Gyndine Yards Cargo Container - the 6 meter, 15 ton model - its primary purpose is to ferry cargo from larger orbital barges to high-danger locations unsafe or impractical for them to travel to. To ease the interchange of goods the 12 cargo containers are integrated directly into the wing superstructure and the hull of the craft can freely rotate around the cockpit.Short at 24m but incredibly wide at 82m, the MS-14K is more aerodynamic than many similarly sized ships. Its two powerful ion engines, power hungry and inefficient, allow for it to compensate for heavy cargo loads in atmosphere, which has made it popular among smugglers. Its armament, while formidable, is entirely forward facing, meaning that despite this it is nowhere near as common among the galactic underworld as other Ubrikkian designs. Despite this it is considered on of Ubrikkian Industries' few successes in the medium freighter market. It is popular to procure aftermarket modifications to swap one of the docking rings for a turret.
While not remarkably fast for its size at 40 MGLT, its rotating superstructure allows for increased thruster control and a surprising degree of maneuverability. The greatest drawback of the MS series ships, however, is that the vast majority of its parts are proprietary designs of Ubrikkian Industries and thusly both difficult and expensive to obtain. The less scrupulous owners of MS freighters more often than not make do with third-party or jury-rigged parts, which has given what is a solidly built ship a reputation for strange maintenance requirements. One area where even the most dubious pilots are hesitant to tinker with, however, is the cockpit's finicky ejection module. Its complicated parts and delicate design are never at risk of simply firing the crew off into space, but could fail to launch when needed if not carefully maintained.
