Welcome Rogue One Fans!
First and foremost I want to say welcome to theStarWarsRP.com, or SWRP! We love getting new members here, and we work as hard as we can to make this a fun and creative outlet for you! This message is to help you, the new member and Rogue One fan, understand the differences between our current setup here on SWRP, versus the setting of the movie!
So first off we are in the 6th Timeline, which is called "Dawn of the Republic" (DotR). What is a timeline, you might ask? Here on SWRP we use Timelines as the setting for roleplay, and each timeline is set in a different time period, and situation in the Star Wars Universe. These timelines last a few real life years, and every roleplay made in the 'Story' section on the site is part of the timeline. Our current timeline DotR is set roughly 1,000 years before The Phantom Menace so roughly 1,032 years before Rogue One.
With all of the above being said, there are some things in Rogue One that aren't present in our current setting. I'm going to try to list most of the main things that won't be around, and then the things that will be around!
For starters, K-2SO doesn't exist yet :( Though he had a really awesome role in the movie, K-2SO is a KX-series Security Droid, and those don't come about until the time of the Galactic Empire - which means that in our timeline over a thousand years prior he hasn't been invented :(
The U-Wing, that awesome ship the rebels fly around, also isn't around yet. Like the X-Wing, Y-Wing, B-Wing, TIE-Fighter, and most of the other ships from Rogue One (or the Original Trilogy) the U-Wing doesn't exist yet. It too was manufactured during the "Rise of the Empire" era, which is far too long after our Timeline for it to be around right now.
Luckily for Alderaan DotR is refreshingly lacking any Death Star. The Death Star we see in Rogue One is just being finished (after roughly 19 years of construction). In our Timeline it's design isn't even an idea yet - let alone a fully-constructed technological terror ;)

Finally for things that aren't around, none of the characters from Rogue One have been born yet :( nor have their parents, or grand parents :p Just keep in mind that here on SWRP, save for very rare occasions (or Mandalorians) we like to avoid canon last names, or relation to canon characters. That means no Jyn Erso great-great-great-grandma's second cousins :D
However
All the awesome planets from Rogue One are definitely around and playable! Your favorite locations from Rogue One like Jedha, Scariff, Vallt, Yavin IV, and that one planet where it was raining (the name escapes me) are around in our galaxy far far away. If you want to have your own adventures like Jyn and her crew on any of the new places seen in Rogue One then go ahead!
While some things found in Rogue One aren't around in DotR, I hope that won't keep you from sticking around! Because of course, above all, what keeps us coming back to SWRP, Rogue One, or any of the other movies is the awesome universe of Star Wars, and that is most certainly alive in our timeline!
