Hey guys, I know with the new timeline being announced just yesterday, we've all got a lot of great ideas, and the story the Staff made gives us a lot of opportunity to be diverse in our roleplay. Of course, with making Independent factions though, especially at first, it may be a bit 'grabby'. I thought that this may serve to help us figure out what's what in the new timeline.

If you have an idea, or actually have plans already to use a faction or location, you should definitely post here. I'd hate to see three people working on Hutt Cartels, only to find someone else had uploaded it on the first day of the new timeline. Same goes with any other popular faction, like Mandalorians, Chiss, and Dark Jedi. This'll also help us find out what planets people plan on using for their factions, so that way we don't have people OOCly fighting over a planet.

Of course, this can also function as a universal interest check, and a chance for use to maybe find people to collaborate with in making new factions.

Soo... Already got an idea for a faction? Let's hear it!

I'm definately creating the Ryloth Exchange (there's a link in my sig). It'll be primarily focused on slavery, but as it's simply one of many possible criminal factions there's no reason not to work out your own crime faction ideas.

Another idea of mine is creating the Genoharadan and styling it as a strictly PvP assassin guild, but as you can't run two independent factions this is currently only in the works as an unofficial Genoharadan. Which means I'll be happy to create mission packs for interested parties, but there will be no application or sub-forum for it.

Genoharadan.png

Genoharadan

”For centuries a handful of assassins stood at the beg and call of the senators of the Republic. The most dedicated and efficient killers the Galaxy knows aren't Sith or even Force Sensitive, but the Genoharadan. Their lives forever in the shadow these brilliant killers will spend years infiltrating an organization with the sole purpose of a single kill. Their existance often doubted by everyone except the few senators that are scrupulous enough to utilize them, they are the creme-de-la-creme of covert ops."

[beebox3=600px]The Genoharadan will feature no hierarchy and have a limited amount of PC members. Missions consist of targets send in through special comm link by senators. Missions may require infiltration of other factions and can be more than single-roleplay kills. The Faction will feature no fleet of any kind, or be known publicly, and have no intention or possibility to expand beyond the five starting members. Faction assets will solely consist of a hidden gathering and council room underneath the senate building.

The Genoharadan will be focused on PC (or otherwise PvP) bounties exclusively. Which translates to missions like: infiltrate faction and kill FL. Could even be used against the Ryloth Exchange! Gone are the days of simple NPC bounty kills..join the real game of extremely difficult PvP bounties (chances of your PC dying will be considerable).

Missions will be planned out into several Roleplays, all of them will be death-enabled and NPC'd to make it a distinct possibility.

For Example:

The Senate wants the Genoharadan to identify and kill the mysterious leader of the Ryloth Exchange.

Mission #1: Infiltrate the Ryloth Exchange

Mission #2: Collaborate with Exchange members

Mission #3: Complete a Ryloth Exchange Mission

Mission #4: Enter Exchange HQ and retrieve data from the Crime Lord's Holocommunicator.

Mission #5: Investigate Senate, interview persons of interest

Mission #6: Set bait and identify the King of Slavery

Mission #7: Assassinate Senator Motte'tori

Each Mission will be given after the previous one is finished, all will be death-enabled, either due to the PvP nature of the thread or through NPC'd threats. All in all expect a succesful bounty to take your character several months.

Entry into faction only upon death of one of its members. PCs cannot already be a member of another faction before joining.[/beebox3]

Well I've been working on a pirate faction based on the Dark Eldar whose main focus is raiding, torturing, and enslaving as many people as possible. Unlike the regular run of the mill pirate gang I plan to take a more mystical approach to the missions. E.I. making deals with mystical spirits in exchange for power. There will also be a lot of espionage and political intrigue to avoid direct military opposition. I already started with a planet profile but I have not gotten around to making the actual faction profile.

They are not paid mercenaries. These are 100% bad people who, if you meet them, will probably enslave you.

If there's going to be several Criminal factions, would you guys be interested in maybe a 'Godfather' type thing going on? You know? With the Five Families, and how they're all kinda at ends with each other, but all accept a higher power? Maybe something similar to The Commission? Doesn't have to be a unified faction, but maybe an understood agreement or something of the sort.

(I used to do a lot of roleplay on New York crime, and this idea just brought back a lot of Nostalgia for me.)

I've spend years RP'ing mafia families and Commission meetings in NYC, so I'm all up for it! Could be really fun to have a different Crime Lord host his peers every now and then to discuss business and settle disputes.

Sure. Spoiler Alert: I've actually been planning that sort of thing with benvenu7. My faction would be the crime lord who enjoys his hookers and drugs a little more than his own good.

Aye, he's been a busy fellow. @Benvenu7 been contacting every potential criminal faction he could find ;)
That's more of a discussing once we know which factions actually get off from the ground in february, though. It's quite possible some of our ideas will never get the three character requirement (especially with the stricter character limit of 3)

I've been working on a PMC, with the aim of putting emphasis on soldier interactions and isolated conflicts. With a good chunk of the galaxy unclaimed by major factions next timeline, I don't doubt that there will be some planets who said factions will turn a blind eye to. That's where my faction comes in.

The PMC, Diamonds in the Rough, would be hired out by local planetary governments, companies, etc. for contracts. These contracts can include convoy escort, bolstering their own forces during possible civil wars, and even assassinations and espionage. There will (hopefully) be a lot of diversity in the missions that will be offered in the faction.

I've got a write up here if anyone is interested in looking at what I've got so far, though I have yet to adjust the history sections to be inline with the now confirmed timeline setting.

I suppose the idea of a Commission could be similar to how the Shadow Collective was in canon.

I currently have in the works, along with @Nor'baal, a criminal organization. The planning is still very much at the brainstorming stages but here is what has been discussed so far. It will be a syndicate style criminal organization. There will be a small number of "bosses" to start with. Each of these will be responsible for managing their own organization within the syndicate. These bosses will form a council which leads the syndicate. My character will be the "chairman" of the syndicate to start. There will be a "code of conduct" that the bosses and their organizations must adhere to.

There will however be a duel aspect to this faction. Each boss will also run a legit company that would hopefully operate within the timeline. I.e. would make tech or work to make IC deals to make the company money, etc. These companies will be fronts for the individual organizations. These companies will be part of a conglomerate which will be a cover for the syndicate. The conglomerate will have a board of directors similar the council of the syndicate. I also hope to get my character in the Senate.

I promise its not as complicated as it sounds. If anyone is interested feel free to PM me.

Well there are several indie factions that I have heard about so I think this thread should take off fairly quick. Thanks for putting it up, Your a good Samaritan my friend!

Well anyways back on topic

@Loco is planning on making a Cop/Police/Detective/LawEnforcement/KickAssGoodGuy's faction next Timeline. Which is cool simply because there are so many bad Factions out there. @Ecclessey is making some sort of slaving company, @Miz and @Benvenu7 are making Pirate factions, You know someone will make a cartel or Hutt faction. Lots of criminals out there.

Now on top of that, luckily with the outer rim being in chaos, that just opens up more opportunities for a "Ranger" Faction. The outer rim is already Lawless, but with the added destruction of war, Large amounts of criminal elements, Poverty, The republic refusing to help. That only leads to more and more amazing story and growth opportunities.

I am not sure exactly of all the details simply because Loco is the Big Boss Man on all that stuff. But I have been active in the interest check that's been up for some time now and I know a few things. So why not advertise them here?

So far I think we have approximately 5 or 6 people interested and maybe 4 who are 100% making a character. Loco has expressed his interest of basically coping the Sector Rangers, ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sector_Ranger ) Which are basically an elite form of Law enforcement. We will be the Clint Eastwood's, Cigar chewing, Hat wearing, gun fighters. We will be the Raylan Givens, Charismatic, confident, quick drawing swagger. We will be the Sherlock Holmes, Intelligent, arrogant, Intuitive detectives. And most importantly we will be a member driven faction.

Now what do I know for sure?

We will be a mix of realistic and fantasy.

That means you cant have your characters killing the bad guys. Our number 1 goal is to arrest them and make them live out their days in prison.

We will also have an internal affairs. That way if our investigators mess up, or go bad, we can get them to.

Now get this, We will actively hunt down and apprehend PC's, That means we will have to gather evidence, collect data, interview witnesses and arrest the bad guys. All of that In Character!

Now I don't plan on listing everything in this single post. Nor do I intend on hogging up this thread, so with all that's said. If I made an eyebrow raise, or peeked even a small amount of interest in you then check out the main thread and maybe share an idea of your own if you have one. Here's the Link: http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/...-and-robbers-interest-check-brainstorm.62412/

And for all you criminals out there, This is your warning.

If Corellia doesn't end up part of the Republic, I really want to use it for something. Not sure what yet, but it has a lot of possibilities.

The slavers of Asharte will not leave in cuffs we will leave in body bags. The only witnesses left remaining will be the ones they let go willingly to spread their atrocities.

Dude this is going to be fun, I honestly would love to see a alliance of sorts between all of the criminal factions, it would be pretty cool seeing how that works.

We just have to have enough diversity between all of the 'factions' to justify them being allied, rather than merged. Because if it's just four groups of three people, why not just have one group of 12?

We'll have to see what everyone comes up with with their factions. I don't see the Commission being an immediate thing.

Let me stress again, that with the character limit at 3 and the mentioned higher number of player requirement, it remains to be seen if any sort of alliance could be struck. In fact, merging the pirate faction might result in a better shot at getting approved.

Exactly. I think it's best to not immediately go in with the intent of this Criminal alliance. Maybe just keep it in the back of our minds. After all, when the Mafia was first around, the Commission wasn't around immediately anyways. If we go in with that intent, it'll seem just like one big faction, rather than an alliance.

Don't worry we will handle the pirate side of this I'm sure. Just focus on the slavery side, and all that jazz

I have some ideas for independent factions, with the main one I am considering pursuing being a Ssi-ruuvi Imperium faction. In the Legends continuity, the Ssi-ruuk are a race from a remote Unknown Regions planet called Lwhekk, and have a caste-based society.

I am thinking of creating a Ssi-ruuvi Fleet faction, which would be specifically the Imperium's military, and invade the Outer Rim, attacking both the Republic and the Sith, as well as anyone else who gets in the way of our conquests. I plan on building it up through roleplays and making it a third power, a rival to the Sith and the Republic.

A Jedi knight indie faction for those Jedi more interested in less violent more peace fully mustic monk type views. I will not start out straight at the start since my New Jake must first leave the oder first. As for missions it will be adventure, solving disputs, helping those in needs and trying to stop the darkness. We could be a Intristing foe for these crime lords, we have no real authority, dont kill unless it is the true last resort but still driven to helping those the crime lords trod on. So we could never destroy them but we could anoy them.
