Parna Vaal

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Parna Vaal (/varl/), a Force-sensitive male human, was one of the few surviving Jedi active during the waining days of the first Sith Empire, and beginning of the Rebellion. Though an older man by the time of the Rebellion and the Mandalorian search for Mandalor, his connection to the force meant he was as able as men half his age, and a strict regime of training and meditation meant such standards never wavered over his lifetime. Dedicated to the emancipation of the galaxy from the rule of the Sith, Parna felt that such an uprising could not be accomplished by the Jedi alone, but onyl by the people who found themselves oppressed beneath the Empire's authoritarian rule, of which the Jedi were only a part. To this end he sought not primarily to fight, but to advise and inspire others into action.

_

Biography

"The emancipation of the galactic peoples must be of the galactic peoples themselves"

Memories of his youth are hard to come by now, but Parna Vaal can still remember every world he's visited, every etched and wretched face upon which he saw the 'glory' of the Sith Empire written. The Jedi, despite their persecution, their secrecy, their constant teetering on the edge of extinction, were still the lucky ones in his mind. Some of the few still free from the grip of the Empire.

Many years then were spent in travel, wandering between star systems as a quiet observer of the masses who strained under the Imperial yoke. Though he did what he could to relieve hardship, he dared not reveal himself to the Sith, though his observations seemed to suggest the time for such was ever approaching.

But what could one lone Jedi do against the might of the Empire? It was not until his middle years, after a long period spent in the vein of the Jedi of old, flitting from community to community, trying to solve their problems one at a time, this proved eventually all too hopeless, he recognised a new path would be necessary to relieve the evils from the galaxy.

"Where there is power, there is resistance"

On __ Parna saw the rumblings of change, or what he hoped would be such. A planetary Governor, harsher and crueller than most had driven the populace too far, and they had responded in kind, rising against him.

For a moment, a brief flash, Parna Vaal saw the possibility of a new world, one that would only come from the work of the Jedi and the people of the galaxy as one. One that must occur. It would only be a matter of time.

Or so his analysis told him. Given the Sith Empire's control of the galaxy, few could ever be thought of as outsiders to it, not even a Jedi like he at times. But from within the system he could see how it worked, the gears and power structures that bound the Empire together, that rubbed up against eachother, never able to settle. The Sith, for all their strength, held a philosophy that was incapable of stagnation, of anything but consumption of others and of resources. It would end, this was necessarily so. And from his point of view, Parna saw things coming to a head within his lifetime.

It was this then that made his focus change. Continuing his travels, he did now with a purpose of observing, ensuring that his understandings were correct, trying to verify his theories as part of his project, Das Imperia, his great work of critique against both Sith ideology and Empire.

The only thing left was the revolution itself.

"If we do not do the impossible, we shall be faced with the unthinkable"

Following his travails put into the text, Parna, now a much older man, planted himself firmly on new ground. Working to bring not only the Jedi back to the galaxy, but to inspire and share his thought with the people of the galaxy, in the hopes of seeing them rise up against the Imperium they now so cruelly lived under.

His latest efforts have seen Parna travelling Outer Rim planets, searching not only for signs of the Order's lost assets and people, all the while trying to make contact with rebel groups and subjugated peoples who might be allies in the coming resistance. With the Empires destruction of Medriaas, or Nathema, as the Imperial Republica called it, the galaxy seemed ready to take itself back from the darkness.

And Parna, well, he just wants to push it in the right direction.

Personality and traits

"The Sith claim to be born free and are yet everywhere in chains"

While appearing at peace with the world, quiet and contemplative, Vollen is plagued by uncertainty. While he betrays no emotion to look at, Vollen’s loss of the force and subsequent emotional reestablishment with it has brought him to a place where his original understanding of the force no longer seems sufficient, and the Jedi Orders’ guidance waivers within him.

With others Vollen often remains calm, pleasant, and sympathetic, he has no wish to quarrel and would rather speak than fight. And indeed if pressed into violence Vollen is largely uncomfortable with such actions, and is likely to falter if such pressures were pushed onto him.

Though with such a well of emotions that seems to link him to Cala, and so to the force, there is a constant worry and struggle for Vollen to stave them off, and knows such an embrace would be to open himself to the dark side. And yet it seems it is the only connection to the force he has, though his understanding of it should suggest this would be otherwise, that everything is part of the cosmic force, and coming to dwell with the living force surrounding him should aid in his manipulation of it.

Though his particular circumstances he suspects have affected his connection, and Vollen will go to great lengths to find information that might help in understand the nature of his unusual relationship with the force. Toward this he is highly determined.

Never having the chance to as a child, Vollen forms relationships quickly now among the Jedi, seeing much of the Order as home and family not properly had. Though his mother and father have not left his mind entirely, he dares not search for them, not wishing to know what he might find.

Vollen sees the force as not merely a field but a process, dynamic and ongoing it grows and changes with the world, and is not something eternally stagnant, nor determined. Unorthodox beliefs for a Jedi, he keeps such thoughts and writings to himself, though the teachings of the Jedi have clearly influenced his ideas and morals, and as such strives to maintain such expectations as are placed on the Jedi, not least due to an understanding of why but so as to be part of such community as he has found himself in, and seeking to fully engage within it.

While at first uncomfortable even leaving the confines of the Ossus Temple, circumstances in the galaxy were such that there was little chance of him staying there. Mentored by more experienced members of the Order, Vollen grew into an experienced Jedi, though leadership qualities eluded him despite knowing it would be his role to take them on. However, he would throw himself into it, given the desperate circumstances of the Order, and discover his own strength as he did so, became dogged, persevering through many dark times, even taking on a mentoring role to other Jedi, such as Marina Giulestei (Vollen saw Cala in her, part of the reason he sought to do so was to pay her back in a sorts for all she’d done for him), when he could, and joining with others to explore strange new worlds, and reestablish the Order.

Equally, to combat the worries and failings he finds in himself, and the darkness in the galaxy, Vollen often switches immediatly from goal to goal, objective to objective, as soon as one plan fails or succeeds his mind moves on to more work, where he might be needed next. While it makes him an admirable and active Jedi, there are signs such failure to deal with these changes at times take their toll.

Powers and abilities

image

"I am no prophet, I only share what you already see"

Vollen was a powerful Jedi in his day, developing his abilities as his years in the Order continued. Indeed, such was something about Vollen that he was appointed to the rank of Master without the traditional trials or council interview presented. Though whether this was as a result of his abilities, personality, or dedication to the Order Vollen does not know, and likely never will. It seems as much by circumstance than by intentional training Vollen became greatly skilled with the use of a lightsaber which he wielded alongside an ancient Jedi Energy Shield, making him a force to be reckoned with when confronted by blaster weilding foes. And indeed this shield would serve as a symbol for him, as he took on a personal role as 'guardian' to the Order in his middle years. Similarly, Vollens' skill as a pilot was not to be underestimated, and rare within the Order, honed as part of a childhood on the move, and providing the reintroduction of the 'Lost Star' Starfighters back to the Order.

  • Force mastery: While a highly skilled force user, Vollen often found himself lax to reach into the Force given his experience after the Darkness, when he seemed to lose the Force at the same time he lost his Master, and partner, Cala Nevas. While his force sensitivity did return in time, the feeling of 'lack' that filled that time continues to play on his mind at times, as does the memory of Cala, and prevents him from devoting his full self to the utilization and manipulation of the Force, though he studies it intensely. In this case he found himself a dabbler of many styles and forms of force manipulation, adept at many basic uses of the force and even some more exotic powers, but not a Master of any like other members of the Order. However, his propensity for study and determination meant he certainly tried, and often succeeded at using, an array of force techniques. Due to his great understanding of the Force, he could perform two Force techniques simultaneously and use many powers with a fraction of the concentration it cost most casual users of the Force.
    • Telekinesis: Vollen, like most other Force users, could utilize forms of telekinesis. His skill and connection to the force allowed him to move and interact with objects of varying size and form, as well as create blasts and waves of force energy that could throw objects and foes into the air or into the ground. Indeed, if the need was great, he could use the force to hold off in stasis blaster bolts and other objects, and challenge other force users command of the force.
    • Elemental Force abilities: While competent in both aero- and pyrokinesis, Vollen's forte in the elemental abilities was always cryokinesis, which he valued for its versatility and variations for both tactical and simple uses, being known to create stalagmites and great walls of ice across the environment when the need arose. But again, given his dabbling nature, Vollen had at least an adequate of various elemental techniques in the force. Similarly, with aerokinesis Vollen has been known to create enormous sandstorms and gusts of wind that upset and blind foes to his location.
    • Tutaminis and energy manipulation: With a Jedi Master's control over the Force, Vollen's abilities in, despite his personal uncertainty at times, could not be underestimated, often coming in the form of energy manipulation. Given his unwavering commitment to the light, he was also capable of generating and projecting withering blasts of force light, which were capable of purging away the dark side's influence and (theoretically) cutting off those who practiced the dark side from the Force if applied correctly. Equally, Vollen was highly capable of manipulating Force energy for generating shields and barriers to protect himself and others from damage, shown in numerous combat scenarios to avoid damage that might have otherwise been fatal.
      • Light Step:
    • Mental Force abilities: Despite his distaste for its use, Vollen was effective at the use of Jedi mind trick, and equally had training in disguising his presence in the force and intentions from others, even being able to cloak himself and others in auras that would shield them or attract them to others. Vollen could also use more subtle mental skills, such as throwing off his target's equilibrium as a distraction.
  • Force-bond: Vollen and Cala's force bond was of a far deeper level than of even the most dedicated masters and students. However, such a bond also opened them up to shared harm, and indeed Vollen's own loss of connection to the force for a time at her passing. It is because of this Vollen has limited forming greater connections with some of his peers, and somewhat fears the creation of anothe bond such as that one.
  • Intelligence: While not a genius by any standard, Vollen has proved a dedicated student, often making up for anything he lacks there. Enjoying the reading of texts, the probing of books and holocrons to learn was a great part of his days in the Order, holding a fascination for the Order before the Darkness in its heyday, having a strong foundation of knowledge to draw upon about it, and relishing opportunities to explore such things in the field. While many find him naive in his optimism, Vollen is know fool, and recognise double speak and questionable intent even without the aid of the force. Though often giving the benefit of the doubt means he might not act upon it immediately.
    • Multilingual: While understandably proficient in galactic basic, Vollen also had a knack for knowing the nuances of criminal and smuggler double speak given his upbringing.
    • Teaching skills: Vollens own teaching commitments have increased since taking on the role of Master, though he has avoided taking on any permanent students thus far. However, he has been involved in a number of combat and flight training scenarios, and works to act so as to teach by example in his role. However, in one on one scenarios Vollen prefers a more interrogatory style of teaching and learning, often using it as a chance to question himself and learn in concert with his student or companion.
  • Lightsaber mastery: Vollen's preferred and most practiced style of combat was with a lightsaber. Used in combination with his energy shield, Vollen could comfortably press an attack, leading the charge of many a Jedi skirmish, as well as cut swathes through blaster wielding enemies, holding off their attacks with a modified version of Form III Soresu that complimented and indeed strengthened his use of the energy shield, making Vollen into an at times unbreakable target. However, his knowledge of other forms was strong, and was adaptable to most attacks from them. He himself consistently and masterfully used a version of Form V Djem So once distance to a target had been closed via combination of Soresu Blade work and his Energy Shield defenses.
  • Piloting: An experienced and deft pilot, Vollen made pushes to bring starship skills back to the Jedi Order after the Darkness, he himself having honed his skills and reflexes in the cockpit in hundreds of hours of flights throughout his younger years. A skill he maintained even after coming to the Jedi Order, working to bring back the 'Lost Star' Starfighters to the Order, and practicing significantly with other members of the Order so as to make the fleet something ready, should the need ever arise.
Equipment

While following the Order tradition and teachings of having few possessions, Vollen maintains a collection of equipment which he utilises as part of his role as a Jedi Master. This includes his personal armour and robes, as well as his lightsaber, traditional of a Jedi. Similarly, his ancient Jedi Energy Shield follows suit, as well as a small CSR-2A Blaster Pistol, all of which are worn by default.

Around his neck Vollen continues to wear the kyber crystal of Cala Nevas, it having often served as a point through which he could better sense the Force, and a means to centre himself when he had lost his way. He often still carries his notebooks from his time in self-imposed solitude in the Ossus Library, and still uses them for notetaking and personal reflection when time permits.

When needed Vollen has been known to carry a Port Scanner, Data Vault, Ascension Gun, and Kanyon 85 Camera, depending on the task at hand.

Outside of this Vollen maintains a personal ship, a YG-1098 Light Freighter 'Homeward Bound' for travel, and makes use of a Hyperdrive Docking Ring for travels in smaller fighters where a hyperdrive is lacking.

On Nature

and Learning

In the last months of his life (though he did not know it), Councillor Vollen Shai had begun to record musings, thoughts, lessons and lectures down into holo-format. While by no means comprehensive, the various discussions within wandered through various topics and styles, some dialogic, others lengthy speeches of the kind he had been ribbed about in the past. Other times poetry, verse, stories, memories.
While no obvious themes come to the viewer, his once apprentice Marina Giulestei discovered the recordings in the final days of the Jedi Order, before their scattering to the stars following the rise of the Sith Empire.

It is her commentary that acts as a coda to the pieces contained within, offering a more comprehensive and systematised re-reading of the words contained within to provide a more complete metaphysical and instructional picture formed from their joined images of thought.
Whether done with future generations in mind, or simply for her own reading, few who have seen it since are certain. But if nothing else they offer a glimpse into the world before the Empire, and the possibility of seeing ones way out of it. Either way, the final volume dubbed 'On Nature and Learning' by Marina, rests now somewhere unknown, still in the hands of the few Jedi who remain. What might become of it all are yet to see.

Structure: The actual piece itself is quite small, a rectangular box with playback that activates with a touch. But within it lies a small compartment, containing the paired kyber crystals of Vollen Shai and his late partner Cala Nevas, recovered from the surface of Ruusan. They still hum with energy even now.

Content: The first set of recordings feature a seemingly arbitrary collection of notes, topics, teachings, and musings on matters both grave and light. They present no structure or codification in and of themselves, and instead offer some insights to and understanding of the man who recorded them.

The second set is marked by a greater degree of intensity and lucidity. Here we find the majority of what might be considered instructive and critical speech, wherein Vollen's intention in taking them down seems markedly different, as if something has happened in his life that is forcing him to speak.

The third and final set is quite the opposite. Philosophical, theological, and at times less than purely sensible, there is a calmness to these recordings not found elsewhere, a purpose known to the author but not to the viewer.

And finally, there is the coda. Almost as long as the three sets that precede it, Marina Giulestei's concluding remarks to the recordings act both as an introduction to the larger set, as well as an ending point for her own interaction with them. It is telling though that her reading offers one way of grouping the recordings together, but leaves open the possibility for more. She laments that, should there have been more time, perhaps she would have added her own thoughts, and brought it together into a holocron. It is there the recordings stop, never to be completed.

Not by her, anyhow.

Intent: 'On Nature and Learning' is meant to represent a more fragmented and eclectic collection of thoughts of a Jedi from this timeline, as well as a small send off for both my Jedi characters from the 7th timeline. It was created through a plot during the 7th timeline though I was unable to post it before the transition. It now remains in the hands of my current pc, and a plot would have to be completed in order to access any further teachings from it.

Saorise Kallig

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Saorise Kallig (/Ser-sha/), the first daughter of a minor noble house among the many the growing Sith Empire had come to collect, was one not who felt not destined to follow the fate of her family. Set on the path to power by her parents, Saorise intended to use every ounce of that assistance to move beyond the invisible shackles that bound her to that life, ready to create herself anew, alongside the Empire she saw ready for revitalisation.

_

Biography

The Kallig family. A proud family, if a little more than their station truly allowed for. But ones that had built themselves up over some generations. So the story went to hear her parents tell it.

It mattered little to Saorise. It would matter less once she was done with this Empire, her family history but a footnote. She would do better. The Empire would do better.

From a young age Saorise's parents pressed into her the values of the Empire, of the Sith, though they weren't force sensitives themselves. Perhaps that was why they could only ever hope to hold their current positions. But she had been a 'lucky' one. The possibility of the force coming to their family was too good for the Kallig's to let up, and once her abilities began to manifest themselves, well into her teenage years, her expensive education was dropped, replaced quickly with the red dirt of Korriban, and the grit of the Sith academy.

It suited Saorise just fine.

Though upon her exit she was offered a place by the side of her Uncle, a lord of some note and influence deeper into the Core, Saorise refused. Such familial preference did the Empire no favours, nor did it to those it supported. The Empire was failing to protect those it claimed its power could. Ones family had nothing to do with it. Though the aged of the Old Empire might have claimed they believed the same, nothing could be further from the truth. True yes, they focused on ones power over ones merit, but the futility and abandon of its practitioners to throw themselves into such ancient rituals and ways was not progress, but regression. Clinging to the old ways meant death, stagnation, a focus on keeping alive beliefs over the self. And the self, well, that was all that mattered.

And Saorise was all too sure of herself to let that slip away so easily, or be lost in the madness of ritual. No, this Empire would be her proving grounds, a chance to forge the Empire anew.

Personality and traits

Hailing from the more aristocratic and bourgeois parts of the Imperia Republica, Saorise shares some of the haughtiness and stuff upper lip of her family.

However, this is combined with a fierce disdain for most of them and those within her immediate circle. Instead, Saorise has consistently focused on her own skill and self-improvement, leaving little time or desire for shared sympathies. Though perhaps her foray into the Empires upper circles will provide her with both new friends and enemies.

Frightfully determines and singular in intent, Saorise did not suffer fools easily, and maintained a deal of distance between herself and most compatriots she might find herself on the same side of.

Equally, she would not shy away from a challenge, though how she would meet it always depended upon the circumstances.

True in her mind though was a belief that the Empire could produce a better people, a stronger people, if only it were different. And Saorise was of the conviction she might be able to lift it to that.

Powers and abilities

With such comprehensive studies as her family thrust her into, her knowledge was her greatest weapon. Though her time on Korriban impressed upon her many newer skills far more deadly in nature, though not necessarily more effective.

To make her mark on this galaxy though, Saorise meant to hone every skill she had at her disposal, to combat enemies both without and within.

  • Marksmanship: A fine shot, but a blaster to her is little more than a trifle unless used in the correct circumstances.
  • Hand to Hand: Though on Korriban Saorise found herself in more than a few scrapes, such blunt attacks were by no means her focus.
    • Lightsaber: Cleaner, quicker, and all the more effective, a duel with such was her combat of choice, and her most versed method outside of the force.
  • Conversational: Distant at times, but ready to twist words and meanings when the purposes suited her. Any such pretense of pleasantries was a facade, one there only to keep the game going for someone otherwise so often withdrawn in her own mind.
  • Force Skill: Gruelling months on Korriban drilled into her an understanding of the nature of the force, and her ability to manipulate it. As strong as any other alongside her, she tended not to employ it destructively, but for more secretive and subtle means.
  • Piloting: Comeptent, though that was the most she dared claim of herself. Ready to fly if need arose though.
  • Education: With a good number of years under her belt and a strong head on her shoulders, Saorise’s education has helped her succeed, and at times exceed, in the world she has been thrown into.
[/jumpto]Equipment

On leaving Korriban and setting out to establish herself within the Empire, Saorise brought little in the way of personal effects. Her lightsaber, crimson, quietly unadorned, smooth to the skin. A ring, set with her family seal permanently scarred after her time on Korriban. A number of outfits, as well as a personal ship, 'Liberta', a _. With these simple instruments she intended to find herself an entry into Sith her society without the need for family ties, and if anything to bring them into the fold as an asset, rather than a chain for affections.

Das Imperia

Written over the course of his travels across the Outer Rim, Parna Vaal's treatise 'Das Imperia' was a mammoth work of political philosophy, as well as critical metaphysics, within which Parna Vaal analyses the inherent contradictions of the Sith Empire and Philosophy, and argues how that, at its very core, the Sith code is destined to create the conditions for its own failure, and the rise of rebellion against it.

Structure: Split into two volumes, with numerous chapters within each, Volume I focuses on the Sith Code and its contradictions, while Volume II carries this analysis onto the Sith Empire, and presents its conclusion of the necessity of rebellion within it given its inherent instability.

House Dalaigh

Excerpt · Description · Notable persons

House Dalaigh, a minor house of among Kuati politics, was a failing, but quietly wealthy house that existed during the days of the Great Galactic War

_

Description

House Dalaigh had carved out a particular niche for themselves in the great game of Kuati business and politics, and that was as the bankers to the Great Houses. Handling a great deal of incoming and inter-family trading and finance, the Kallig families seat amongst the others was typically kept safe through a mix of favours and aggressive debt pursuit, claims for which have clogged the Kuati court systems for over three decades (though one case, between them and House Andrim, is purported to have been ongoing for over a century in pursuit of land title in Kuat's ever busy central business district).

House Dalaigh has found a way to exist in the margins of every other House conflict. This is because, on a world like Kuat, business is everything, and few could do business between eachother without them. Unofficial ties to House Kuhlvult, and their notorious spy network, saw the trading of business secrets and financial records between the pair, making eachother lives much easier (though any such dealings are kept under the rug by both families).

Equally, the quiet channeling and laundering of funds for local houses and businesses kept House Dalaigh rather well stocked in hush money and bribes to keep everything running safely. Though such actions are more or less an open secret amongst many on Kuat, their reliance upon them for it means it is unlikely that House Dalaigh will face reprimanding for their crimes. And indeed, their position on the margin of Kuati nobility ensured that they never came under real scrutiny.

It is in large part because of this specialty that House Kallig's has amassed quite the personal fortune, investing in markets and stocks further aborad than their own planet, and whispers say that, should they turn their funds to other ventures, they could buy their way up the social hierarchy if its leaders had any real skill.

However, their own political and social prudence has kept them from doing so, and outside of their personal estate and related business ventures, the Kallig's hold very little in the way of physical assets.

The current state of House Dalaigh is one of decline. Though their businesses and activities continue much as they had before, with a stubborn leader and their bitter partner, the remaining leadership fails to act. And the upcoming generation do not look to show any more hope, with a daughter who denies even the family name (thouh not, unsurprisingly, their money), with growing ties beyond them, and a son whose interests lay so far outside the field of business that his education slips by the day, prospects for the success of House Dalaigh are not strong.

Notable Persons

Lord Aidan Dalaigh: Lord Aidan Dalaigh has served as the leader of House Dalaigh for over forty years. Third son of his own family, Aidan was never groomed for the leadership position as his forebears were. But an accident with a newly developed type of starship left both eldest children killed. Aidan then, set on taking control of one of the smaller offshoot businesses, was thrust up the hierarchy in an instant. Unhappy to have been so unprepared, Aidan took on the role of maintaining the families current standing, much as his father, and grandfather had done, with little thought to expansion. Instead, he placed all his efforts into the raising of his children, in order to avoid that position ever again. However, as he has aged into the role, he has lost any desire to pass it on, and lounges in the position, too stubborn to let it go.

Lady Niamh Dalaigh: Lady Niamh Dalaigh, born initially into House Merhrest, aggressively refused to ingratiate herself with the rest of the family and its aristocratic equivalents. Niamh went instead offworld, seeing as much of the galaxy as her status would allow, which was a great deal. Spending years abroad in the Core Worlds, Niamh used a great deal of her youth attempting to find a way out of the rat race of Kuati family politics. This was not to be however, and upon her return years later she found herself arranged to be married off to Aidan Dalaigh, neutralising some growing hostilities between the two. It was this that left her bitter and cold, at times even attempting to undermine the Dalaigh business and name. She has not yet succeeded.

Intent

To provide a write-up for the family for my character Saorise Kallig, as well as providing another member of the Kuati aristocracy to further detail and complicate it. Equally, their specialty among the houses seems to fulfill a role not otherwise present, but needed.

Ruusan Force Nexus

Excerpt · Description

While the details of the many conflicts during the Rise of the First Sith are lost to the many inhabitants of the galaxy, the landscapes still find themselves scarred by it, the force marred from those wounds, and in some places more than others. A skirmish on Ruusan resulted in the deaths of powerful force users, marking the land forever...

_

Description

A craggy and marsh filled river valley nestled in Ruusans highlands, what once would have been a scenic location is now marked, following the events of five hundred years prior. A skirmish between members of the Sith Council and high ranking members of the Jedi Order resulted in the deaths of a number of powerful force users. Their collective presence within the force, as well as the intense emotion that followed it, cut through and marred the land ever more in the aftermath.

In the days following the spirits of the dead still exerted some effect upon the land, as the force gathered itself to the location of their deaths, trapping their spirits along with those others who were drawn to it.

Ever since, the land has been kept in mist and shadow, beneath cloud and shade, little light escaping the clutches of the well of force energy that has over time swelled in the location, having only festered and grown in the intervening centuries since its creation.

Spirits of those long past are said to, and at times can, be found there, the walls of the worlds weaker somehow, allowing easier access to conversation and conflict with force spirits and ghosts.

Similarly, the energy of the vergence often assists in the clarity and ease of force visions and foresight, allowing for clearer and more stable images of things that were, things that are, and some things that have not yet come to pass. And, depending upon the nature of the vision, the possibility of physical manifestation.

However, affecting the spirits or the delicate balance of force energies at play upon Ruusan's surface often draws ire from the restless dead and the energies surrounding it, making access to the site no simple task.

Intent

To provide a more fleshed out write-up for a location to which I have returned to a number of times in plots, codifying its exact effects and history, hopefully to allow more people to use it within their own stories.

Burinjina

Excerpt · Description · History · Inhabitants · Flora & Fauna · Intent

Burinjina, sometimes known as simply Burinja, was a long unnoticed planet in the galaxy's Outer Rim. While mining operations from the Sith Empire once threatened its peace, they have long since been abandoned and Burinjina has continued to develop with limited contact to the galaxy at large. It’s people, flora, and fauna have thrived in the interim, leading to a diverse planet filled to the brim with life, and a deep connection to the Force because of it, it’s deposit of Kyber crystals were proof of that. Only in recent years have its people been more welcoming of offworlders to their planet.

_

Description

While sustaining a number of terrain types, much of Burinja's inner lands are comprised of dry desert and bushland, covering over great expanses of natural resources beneath its surface, such as the Karora Basin. Though home to some dramatic sights, the climate and conditions make it territory that is sparsely populated compared to some other areas of Barinja.

Closer to the sea, temperate forest lands once marked for clearance have developed for millenia, and thriving old growth bush now stretches across the backs of mountains and hills that border the planets southern continent, overtaking casts tracks of mining land and infrastructure that now lies hidden beneath the trees.

These forests transition into their tropical rainforest and jungle counterparts as one moves toward the equator, where some of the planets more threatening flora and fauna have made their homes. Creature of all shapes and sizes live still within.

A large majority of the coastlines of Burinja feature extensive coral reefs and soft, golden beaches, the abundance of life making them places of great joy and at times pilgrimage for the native people, as well as noted sites Force presence. It is near the greatest of these that Kyber crystals can be found growing in caves both near the ocean, and below its surface, a prize valued highly by the local peoples, though do not know their true value as yet.

The native Burinja people have made their homes right across the planets and its vast continents, discovering niches and livelihoods amongst even the harshest of climates. Those within the more temperate climbs have developed more permanent agricultural settlements that have grown into large cities, though they still maintain a reverence for the nature that surrounds them (it is no wonder such settlements have often been established near sights of great energy in the Living Force). While the many that live across the plains and bushland were generally more nomadic, moving between resources over the course of years so as to avoid overusing the delicate ecosystem of the planet, in the intervening millenia most have settled now into more permanent populations with agriculture and minor industry sustaining both the people, and the world around them.

History

For a great millennia Burinja was inhabited solely by its native peoples, as well as the extensive and diverse flora and fauna that accompanied its varied biomes. While permanent settlements were at first rare, they have become increasingly common as technological and agricultural developments allow them to settle more definitively across the planet.

Though for many life goes on as it once had, close to the land.

It was during the first Sith Empire that Burinja was discovered by the galaxy outside, and it’s prized resources. Within six months, mining operations were established all down the eastern shelf of the planets southern continent, establishing a heavy colonial regime in the lands they controlled.

But with the fall of the Empire, colonists fled in droves and the native people retook the lands that had been lost and ravaged by heavy industry.

In the centuries that followed, many of the tribes established stronger relations between each other, forming great alliances amongst each other. With their shared knowledge and strengths brought together, over time these have developed into larger nations and cities across the planet. Agriculture has soared and minor industry has begun to spread as well. But cultural memory of the violence done upon them and the landscape by the Empire pushes them to never do such damage themselves, and indeed their own knowledge of sustaining their environment remains incredibly strong.

It is now then that they begin to open themselves to the galaxy once more, though sporadic trader visits occurred in the interim, and find what has become of the galaxy.

Inhabitants

The native Burinja people inhabited the majority of the planet before the appearance of the Imperial colonisers. With them now gone, the Burinja peoples once again cover the planets continents all themselves.

Close to the land and the Force across the planet, the peoples have little interst in exploiting their planets resources, and instead put great effort into maintaining the viability of their lands they find themselves custodians of.

A minor population of Caskadag flourish in the planets arid interior, brought initially by Imeprial colonisers thousands of years ago, they are rarely seen by Burinja nativesand few know how their society has developed since then.

Burinja cultural practices are close to nature. Many seek out the Kybet crystals buried along the planets coasts as a right of passage and honour. And the planets vital Force energy has led to the development of faith and ritual practices surrounding it and sites containing great energy. While a priestly caste of force sensitives exists, they follow similar cultural practices of maintenance of those spaces as larger Burinja society does of the land at large.

Flora & Fauna

Vast forests of eucalyptus stand tall across much of the planets south, interspersed by the wildfire flowers whose summer flower is known to be a sign of significance for the Burinja, used in medicines and ceremonies by many groups. Beyond this, bushland is covered in low lying scrub, and hardy plants dot the arid interior, thriving on the little water that can be found there.

Burinja's fauna was highly varied, though often specialised to its particular biome, with those of each area playing roles in the mythology of the Burinja people. While Krykna spiders and Malingee worms made their homes within the planets jungles, within the planets forests could be found a dazzling variety of bird and marsupial species that kept low profiles. Meanwhile in the planets deserts, small reptiles and insects survived off the reduced resources and beating sun.

Brought in by the colonisers, Dewbacks are used as beasts of burden by the Republica's interests, though those that have escaped have thrived in the planets deserts and more arid lands.

And in the intervening years since the Empire left, the concentration of such species has only grown in areas away from Burinja peoples, their maintenance practices helping ot sustain and grow such areas and populations.

Intent

An Australian inspired planet I submitted last timeline, and resubmit now updated to reflect the intervening years, and plan to use in plots.

DESCRIPTION
Before the Mandalorian attack on the Kuat Drive Yards, House Depon had prepared their latest fighter design, a cutting edge ship ready to role out across the Empires elite squadrons, and bring them and their House Kuat manufacturers a pretty penny too.

However, the destruction the attack caused left them without a shipyard to produce. As part of the reconstruction efforts a deal was struck between House Dalaigh and House Depon to produce the design exclusively through Dalaigh's newly constructed section of the Drive Yard. With the work complete, the Sumatris was ready for production.

Its central mounted light laser cannons and proton torpedo launcher provided a solid base armament for the snubfighter, while its chaff launcher, military shielding, and surprisingly effective hyperdrive meant the starfighter could fill many roles and complete the wide variety of missions such elite and black ops teams were sent on, without the need for multiple ship variants to be taken or escorted. And given the usefulness of the operatives flying, an integrated ejector seat and survival capsule complete the design.

LEGALITY
Restricted. In Imperial Space the Sumatris-class is afforded to only the most elite operatives.

INTENT
To provide an Imperial advanced fighter that can compete with the C-55B M-wing starfighter, and equally tech upgraded ships used by the Galactic Alliance, head to head, filling a spot in the factions tech.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. The Sumatris-class starfighter carries a number of advanced tech upgrades, making it difficult to acquire and expensive to purchase. Its limited deployment and restricted production mean it is also hard to steal or otherwise come across. A tech plot of 4-5 threads would be required to earn one. However, since the Imperial Republica has access to House Dalaigh's shipyards, Imperial characters can obtain one for 3-4 threads.

Burst Thrusters
Affiliation:
Open Market

Manufacturer:
Mantellian Manafacturing

Type:
Ship upgrade
Power Supply:
Ship power plant

Sensors:
N/A

Size:
Varies by ship

Composition:
Plasteel-durasteel compound

DESCRIPTION
While nimble fighters were nothing, demand within the piloting community to increase the maneuverability of their ships was. While modifications both legal and illegal existed for hyperdrives and engines, less was tailored to those whose ideal was sharp turning and fluid movement. Enter Mantellian Manafacturing's Burst Thrusters.

A set of small, gimbal mounted quick fire engines mounted on the top and bottom sides of the craft (the numbering varying depending on the size of the ship) that allowed for rapid changes in direction and rotation of a craft, as well as quick boosts to speed and breaking when used in that manner.

Adding a set of Burst Thrusters to a ship increases its maneuverability rating by 1 (e.g. A ship with average maneuverability becomes one with decent, and so on), as well as allowing for quick rotation of the ship (e.g. activiating top engines to quickly 'flip' the ship on its head).

The high energy requirement of the engines meant they could not do the sudden movements indefinitely (for more than 3 posts in a row) without shorting the engines (the increase in general maneuverability does not require active use, but will be lost if this possibility occurs). And indeed, required the installation of a military grade power core before installation could occur safely. Use without such a core could result in overdrawing the power core and causing sudden and explosive damage to the ship if used for long (more than 1 post in a row. May use dice in non pvp threads for variety).

LEGALITY
Legal. But highly expensive due to its often niche market. Installation required strong knowledge of ship dynamics in order to be mounted correctly.

INTENT
To create a ship upgrade that could increase maneuverability. The ability for more advanced maneuvers is also present, though comes with risk.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. such engines are highly expensive to buy and install, and are generally rare to come across in the wild. A tech plot of 2-3 threads is required for sufficient engines for fighters/bombers, 3-4 for freighters and similar ships. Burst thrusters cannot be mounted on larger ships than these.

Marissa Hesse

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Marissa Hesse, a criminal active during the Legacies Era , was born to two Senators in Commenor's Chasin City. Moving offworld for her education in her later years, it was only on her return she saw the need for change galaxy, so many structures failing at what they claimed to do. Doubting indeed that any could, she set about a life that would keep her away from them, at any cost.

_

Biography

With Senator parents, while Marissa grew up on Commenor, she saw the comings and goings of many off-worlders, even in her youngest years, her very first inklings at the galaxy's bigger picture.

But, these years were for the most part unexceptional, picking up the generalised anxieties that were spreading across the galaxy at large, becoming acutely aware of even the smallest changes having large effects on arrivals and the stability of her families finances, and the policies they promoted.

Marissa did not have an interest in politics per se, but its effects were becoming ever clearer in her mind, so much so that it could only be a matter of time until she began drawing her own conclusions about the world.

But as was ever so common on a starport focused world like Commenor, Marissa went off-world to study. She had long before dispensed with the idea of following in the footsteps of her parents, and instead threw herself into the underworld of Alsakan while away from their watchful eyes, into a world where things could be shaped differently, where she could see just what she could do.

She wasn’t taken seriously, not at first, not until she managed to prove herself working a few jobs only she could manage to pull off. Her name did a little more talking than many others, allowing her useful connections and opening high risk, high return work that brought in enough to get her trusted around the darker ends of town.

Not that Marissa ever meant to stay put. When one grew up in the shadow of spaceports, one never really felt they were meant to do anything else but move. When she managed to get the funds together, she slipped out of sight, and off into the stars, determined to live her life a little differently in this damned galaxy.

Personality and traits

While Marissa’s upbringing by no means guaranteed that she would keep her feet on the ground, Marissa has managed to more than most.

Cool, collected, but a fiery temper of flared, Marissa is not one to foolish move ahead on a plan, unless the gamble guarantees a great victory in return.

To some she may appear snooty, but she’s able to peg the conversation at the right level when needed, even if the tone of it may distaste her at times.

Often goal focused, Marissa likes to keep on track in her life, once she has a plan she sticks to it, and makes sure it gets done, one way or another.

That said, she is not above dreaming, she wouldn’t live the life she did otherwise. Always seeking independence, and a world where that would be the law of the land, Marissa always keeps such ideals in the back of her mind.

Powers and abilities

Marissa's abilities are not vast, she is no Sith or Jedi. But, she is curious, and driven, and an odd path through life has left her with plenty of skills that have suited a criminal lifestyle particularly well.

To make anyway headway in the game though, she'd need to develop them, and a few new ones, in a way she had not done so before.

  • Persuasion: Capable and charismatic, Marissa made her mark on more than a few in her life, and can come to an argument from multiple angles.
  • Deception: While she would never call herself a liar, there are few other words for what she does best. She’s had enough practice in saying partial truths and avoiding probing questions that she’s comfortable in her work.
  • Conversational: Marissa’s best work is done when she appears open and amicable, though any sympathetic streak is generally a facade except for those close to her. But she can carry on a conversation, and often keeps others well disposed to her because of this.
  • Ranged Weapons: Moving into shadier dealings meant slaps learning to protect herself, at least in some manner. Mardisa is capable with a blaster.
  • Insight: Perceptive, and good at reading what words may conceal, Marissa can get a good grasp of a situation and what exactly its players are meaning when they speak, or even when they don't.
  • Education: What allowed her to leave the humdrums of her early life, and see the galaxy for what it really was, Marissa took opportunities and learnt what she could, wherever she could. And only plans to keep this going.
[/jumpto]Equipment

Though she holds onto few possessions from her earlier life, she still keeps a few things. Clothes and jewellery from her more privileged beginnings are kept for costumes. Though her work has made her live a more spartan existence than before. Still, she enjoyed finer things when she could access them. For general use she also maintained a.

Sith Empire

Agent

_
.
Tarn Lokket

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Tarn Lokket, An agent of Imperial Intelligence active during the Great Galactic War, was a individual of few words, and many actions, all readily undertaken in service to the Sith Empire. And, at times, to himself...

_

Biography

A bluster and haze is all that survives of Tarn's years before service in the Imperial Armed Forces, so much of his former life lost even if the medics on Ossus managed to sew back its physical remnants. Name, rank, number, and a handful of sketchy images were for a long time all he could grasp.

Rehabilitation took time, as did mastering the various cybernetics that had been required to rescue him from the brink. A long and arduous process of perseverance and grit, the words of the Sith Code providing him focus even in the darkest of hours (words he knew he could never embrace, blind to the Force as he was).

By the time he was ready to leave, Tarn had matured, cooler, harder, and more determined than before, and in a rather unique position. It made him an effective candidate for Imperial Intelligence.

It wasn't long before they reached out. While he would not be returning to active duty yet, accepting their offer meant he'd be back in the game, assist the Empire in ways he'd not imagined, but his particular skills life had left him with to use.

He agreed, without hesitation.

Through grueling and at times even barbaric training practices, an Agent Lokket soon formed for the first time. If military service had taught him the basics, Intelligence honed in and specialised his skill set. More adaptable, more critical, it would not be long till he was thrust into an entirely new battlefield.

One of danger, one of deceit. And one where Agent Tarn Lokket was to flourish.

Personality and traits

Hard, stubborn, often locked in his head as a remnant from the time spent before the installation of his voice processor, Tarn is oft want of words when it is not absolutely necessary for the task at hand.

Lokket has taken on much of the Sith Code as his own, fitting to his life even without the Force to hand. Devoted to whatever role he is given, Tarn has found it a focusing mantra, and a point of guidance when doubt might rear its head.

By no means a simple man though, Tarn's passions have extended to a great deal of reading and a fulfilling intellectual life, another byproduct of his extended period of immobility, and one that helps keep him active when not under commands.

Powers and abilities

While Tarn's time in the military provided him with a strong set of skills to begin his career with, it was not until his Intelligence training that he refined much of it into anything of interest.

Life as an Intelligence Officer has demanded a great deal more variety and adaptability in his suite of talents, a set to which he tries to expand where possible.

  • Persuasion: One would not call Tarn charismatic, and his augments often make him less then appreciated to those unfamiliar with him.
  • Deception: But, they do have upsides. Such limitations do make it difficult for others to determine when he is lying, and intelligence training has helped further this particular facet.
    • Performance: By modulating the settings of his vocal synthesiser, Tarn can affect a great many voices. And Intelligence work has gotten him used to taking on cover identities when needed.
  • Blasters: A perfectly adequate shot, time in the military left him competent, and Agent work has made him more proficient with smaller, concealed blasters, as well as longer range sniper rifles for more targeted work.
  • Close Quaters Combat: Capable with a vibro-blade, Tarn can effectively hold his own in close quarters combat.
  • Stealth: Infiltration was a required skill by Imperial Intelligence, and Lokket has become effective at hiding in plain sight, as well as more traditional methods of 'alternate entry'.
  • Explosives: A corollary to infiltration work, sabotage was similarly a part of training, including explosives training to an extent.
[/jumpto]Equipment

While personal possessions are kept to a minimum, for his fieldwork he often carries a Vibroblade, either dagger sized or short sword, depending on the situation. Easily concealable, Tarn may carry a Guardian Hold-Out Blaster and NX-13 Grapple Pistol for infiltration work, or a Chanti Blaster Pistol or an A-10 Long Blaster depending on the mission requirements. Beyond his obvious cybernetics, armour wise he wears a bespoke set of infiltration armour when on mission.

Imperial Intelligence

Excerpt · Description · Notable locations

Imperial Intelligence, more formally known as the Imperial Signals Directorate, were the intelligence, espionage, and sabotage wing of the Imperial government. Intentionally limited in size, its network of operations stretched over many corners of the galaxy. Operatives were recruited and disposed of routinely depending upon mission needs, but the agencies efficiency and effectiveness made them an indispensable part of the Sith Empire.

_

Description

Imperial Intelligence, headquartered on the remote jungle world of Dromund Kaas, remains generally secretive about the size of its available assets and the missions it undertakes. While Dromund Kaas acts as its main headquarters, many safehouses exist on other worlds throughout the galaxy, a remnant of its greater influence before the Great Galactic War. However, many of these exist only for the time of an operation and close again once completed. Staff were drawn from across the Empire, former security and military making the bulk of their field operatives, while university graduates and others who showed promise were drafted into data analysis and support functions.

jbbeLCB.png

Working in the shadows to serve the Empire, Imperial Intelligence generally focuses on the non-force sensitive members of the Empire, but does include some who have undertaken Sith training but found their desired path elsewhere. With the Empires own downsizing, the organisation has seen a similar restructuring, streamlining its ranks and dropping its original focus on disposable assets in favour of long term officers and bases.

Ranks: Streamlined since the offices restructuring, Imperial Intelligence now organises itself along lines that more closely map to the broader Imperial structure:

Agents: Just like the members of the Empire beyond intelligence, the introductory rank of Agent still applies. Trained and specialised in their duties, Agents are tasked with all sorts of operations across Imperial space and beyond.

Cipher Agents: Few in number, but often greatly expanded in times of war, Cipher Agents represented the greatest assets of Imperial Intelligence. Having proven their loyalty and skill, Cipher Agents are granted increased operational freedom, and have the authority to commandeer limited Imperial assets in order to complete their assignments, which may come from above, or from following independent leads.

Keeper: Expertise and enthusiasm beyond doubt, Keepers are the final authorities of Imperial Intelligence beyond their leader on the Dark Council. Operating with impunity and capable of planning and executing missions in the name of the Empire, they were citizens of the Empire who had given it all for Imperial Intelligence. Similarly, their skill was oft greater than that of most Ciphers, but used more restrictively, it is still possible to find Keepers operating in the field when not overseeing other matters, and putting their influence to use.

Minister of Intelligence: The final arbiter of authority in Imperial Intelligence is the Minister for Intelligence. A member of the Dark Council in charge of the Sphere of Influence for Intelligence matters, it is the highest one can go in the Empire before the Emperor themselves. Capable of commanding the entirety of the Imperial Intelligence apparatus, they are the final point of call for operational authority and can just as easily undertake actions as veto them, all in the name of the Empire.

Intent

To provide a clearer write-up for Imperial Intelligence this timeline.

Kuati 9th Legion

Excerpt · Description · Notable locations

The Kuati 9th Legion, a unit of soldiers raised on Kuat under the personal assignment of Saorise Kallig (later Darth Inheris), were a highly effective and experienced military unit during the Grear Galactic War.

_

Description

Raised at the height of the Imperial Republica's power, the Kuati 9th Legion at first no different to any other military outfit of the Imperial military. As the first command of (at the time) Crusader Saorise Kallig, both parties found themselves as green as one another when it came to conflict, but trial by fire would soon follow.

2cac485d0bbbbf4af4e3ed1fe21b4962.jpg

It was mere moments after their first official parading, as celebration for their founding, that the Kuati 9th found themselves in open conflict. A raid on the planet Corellia from a united Alliance and Mandalorian strike team revealed itself in the nights heavy rain, and along with it the return of the Jedi. The Kuati 9th found themselves on the frontline of a pivotal moment in the history of the galaxy, one that would quickly test their skill and resolve.

During the conflict in the former Imperial Hutta, the Kuati 9th found themselves deployed across multiple battlefields throughout the conflict, burning through and taking the fight to the rebellious Hutt's on their own planet, striking and clearing Hutt palaces even while in conflict with the Old Empire.

Later then, on Prakith, a small detachment of the Kuati 9th found themselves part of a cleansing mission to the ancient Sith Temple there, facing off against creatures lost to the aeons, fighting alongside Saorise and one Eriana Fox (later The Confessor).

But the galaxy was an ever changing place, no sooner had the Empire seemed to fragment before finding itself united once again as the Sith Empire beneath Emperor Varyn Rask, himself an old acquaintance of their commander. Such times did not change the nature of their work, being thrust back into the fight once more.

Working as the spearhead on Darth Inheris' (the new title of Saorise Kallig) latest campaign, these now highly experienced troops were brought in to secure the planet Centares, where they prevailed even in the face of intense native resistance. Their first real fight in a long time, they proved they'd lost none of their effectiveness.

Hot on the heels of their success, they found themselves redeployed to Chalceydonia in an effort to pacify the local population into Imperial rule. A more symbolic task, but a deserved rest from the frontlines.

Only time will tell what other operations will be thrust upon the soldiers of the 9th Legion.

Even among such an effective group, some stood head and shoulders above the rest. Three squads, Dominus, Vaykaris, and Primaris made up the elite of the the Kuati 9th Legion. Vaykaris were the personal squad of Darth Inheris, following her even into the deadliesst conflicts and situations. With Dominus we have the Legion's heavy element, ready to rain fire upon the enemy, while Primaris specialised in close quarters breaches and urban conflict.

Intent

To detail and expand upon the exploits of Saorise's personal troops earned as mission rewards, giving them character and notoriety.

"We are not the only ones who have learned the ways of the Force"

Overview

What little is known of Vorheer the Sage is recorded in his final work,
A history of Force: Understandings Beyond the Jedi, a text now rarely seen in the galaxy since the Sith purges and Operation Knightfall before the rise of the Sith Empire. But, in his searching Master Ghast discovered not only tidbits of history, but a force-charged object of great mystery.

Vorheer the Sage, from what information can be gleaned from the scant relics and ruins that were discovered, led a sect of Force-wielders far into the depths of the Outer Rim, to be alone, away from the cacophony of civilisation and the dogmas of existing teachings, to study the force of their own accord.

What beyond this they achieved, it is difficult to say with any real certainty. But, for Master Ghast, the relic that ended up in his possession seemed one that he was 'meant' to find, as if left in the ruins of a civilisation just to be stumbled upon again.

For all his research though, it would not reveal its secrets to him. And for centuries Vorheer's Band was locked away in the Jedi Temple of Vrogas Vas, a curio to the past, but one many had accepted was perhaps not all it was made out to be, little more than a vestige of something no longer relevant.

Vrogas Vas fell deep into ruin, the desert sweeping away the structures the Jedi had built. Even when some of its functions were reclaimed once more to serve the Jedi Order, still it would not last. Again the structures fell to disrepair, battered by sand and wind that warped what was left into a shadow of itself.

And within its stilted wreck, Vorheer's Band remained, biding its time, till it would reveal itself.

That time was soon to be at hand. Whatever plan Vorheer had foreseen in it was to be revealed.

Lost to the ravages of time, in the desiccated remnants of the Jedi Temple on Vrogas Vas, the ring calls out across the galaxy, its destiny to be complete.

Due to its power, the ring is difficult to wield consecutively, since it can be overwhelmed. Therefore, it needs to cool down after being used (1 post CD), and if used a maximum of 2 times (in a thread) it becomes useless for the next few days as it recharges.

Intent

To add a powerful Ancient Artifact, to be competed over in a plot I will be submitting. Not intended to be aligned with either large Force wielding faction from this timeline to allow either participant in the plot to wield it. Amplifies the power of a Force move to be 1 level higher than the user's own current level. So a level 2's attack would have the power/effect of a level 3.

Malheion

Excerpt · Description · History · Inhabitants · Flora & Fauna · Intent

Malheion, a planet actively forgotten by the original Sith Empire of millenia ago, was a place of great power, and yet great horror, that festered in its obscurity in the Outer Rim.

_

Description

A violent, harsh climate swept by Force Storms beneath a blackened sky, Malheion is hardly even habitable in the present era, and this is not to speak of the creatures that haunt its underbelly.

Abandoned cities, like its greatest megalopolis, Ortus, are held only by the dead and damned, those strange alchemical creatures that survived the planets darkening long ago, and hold together through the sheer potency of the Dark Side, spread across the surface by the corrupted Nexus beneath. Cities where colossal statues of its former lords stand watch over the violence below, and levels upon levels of dense cityscape have turned into vast stretches of blackened corridors and cursed buildings, the remnants of city of millions, reduced to nothing.

Meanwhile beyond the walls of the city, mountains once flush with life now stand lifeless, cut away slowly by wind and rain that has shaped them into ragged, silent peaks that stretch out across the planets landmass.

Lakes turned to salt offer a respite from both landscapes. Vast stretches of space that are now little more than pools of undrinkable liquid, some say with strange effects on anything that ingests it.

When the Cataclysm occurred, and all things living on the planet were turned, it wasn't only those on the ground affected. Starships taking off fell out of the sky, littering city outskirts into wastelands of scrap metal and parts. A paradise for scrappers, if they survive the creatures that lurk within.

And, towering over it all, the Ward Spire. Deep in the capital Ortus, the Ward Spire still stands as a testament to the hubris of those ancient Sith Lords who tried to climb as high as their forebears, only to have it come crashing down around their very eyes.

The Ward Spire channels and enhances the energy of the planets Dark Nexus. If one wanted to end the madness and control the planet, and its resources, once more, or wanted to cleanse the Nexus and free it for the light, the Ward Spire would need to be destroyed.

And woe to any who try and set foot in that god forsaken place.

HF3rGmv.jpg
History

Though the Drast Dynasty held the Imperial Throne for nearly all the original Sith Empire's history, the title of Emperor did not necessarily mean one was the most powerful Force wielder within its borders. And many other powerful figures exerted their influence in the Empires walls, and beyond.

A century into its galactic rule, a cabal of notorious Sith Lords sought to expand beyond the horizons of the Sith Empire, seeking to understand the vile magics and arcane devices of the Dark Jedi from the time of the Hundred Year Darkness.

Taking their experiments and research far away from the Imperial capital, they found what appeared to be a paradise. Long spines of rock mountains shooting up from vast inland seas. A great variety of wildlife had flourished within its jungles, forests, and waters, all fed by the primal energy of the planets raw Force Nexus beneath its surface.

Its was the perfect place for the cabal to stretch their abilities.

Their own powerbases were put to work, clearing enormous swathes of land to make way for their colonisation. Cities were erected, towers, temples, and trading stations at first dotting the planets surface, before coalescing over the years into an extensive civilisation, powerful, but paranoid, of the galaxy around them, and closed off even from great elements of the Empire at large.

Under the tutelage and rule of those first Sith Lords that discovered it, the power of the Dark Side fueled their expansion, every use of its corrupted energies seeping into the planet, causing the Nexus beneath to wain.

But they would not give up its power so easily.

In an ill-thought out attempt to harness the energy of the Nexus for their own needs, and corrupt it to the Dark Side, the Sith of the cabal constructed the towering Ward Spire in the capital Ortus. Stretching up to the heavens, the things aggressive and violent architecture channeled and focused the energy of the planet. But all would not be so easy.

On what would be the planets final night, the Sith Lords met in secret, meaning to enact the final ritual to burn the Nexus away, corrupt it to the Dark. In a sense, they succeeded.

The light of the Nexus was flushed out, now throbbing with the power of the Dark Side. In their hubris though, they could not control the effects of their work.

A violent, cataclysmic blast of energy erupted from the tower, and beneath the earth, rupturing through and twisting the planets inhabitants, its wildlife, plants, animals, corrupting them into shapes beyond reckoning and measure.

Whatever civilisation they had built, was lost.

And all that remains now is the silent wreck of a forgotten era, lost beneath Force Storms that scour the sky. Were any to land, they would be greeted by the waves of changed beings that still haunt its streets to this day.

Some say the Sith Lords who caused it still cling to life, albeit a half life, twisted and warped beyond their own imagining, stalking the spaces they once ruled.

Inhabitants

While once a vast and heavily occupied world within the Empire, with a population numbering in the billions, all that remains now is the sad figures of Force warped creatures, stalking the remains of cities, ships, and the rest of the planets forgotten wrecks. Their numbers uncounted, all that can be said is that it would be a mistake to think one can fight them all.

w0PqSuT.jpg

Flora & Fauna

While the earliest days of the planet held an untouched collection of birds, mammals, and fish, what remains now are dark versions of what once roamed the planet.

Diminutive, finch-like birds that were a common sight in the early days of colonisation slowly diminished in numbers, with scarely enough to sustain them by the time of the cataclysm. The number still alive have been transformed into vicious, though bloated, half-feathered flightless masses that drop on the unsuspecting.

The larger predator species that once hunted the edges of the forests now openly roam, their own abilities heightened, their violent tendencies furthered by the vast well of Dark Side power that has infected them all.

And those titans, the great, lumbering beasts who stalked the outer wilds, have become withered and decayed, their forms not once what they were, but now faster, smarter, still beyond most regular combatants to take on alone. They are often found where the border to the Nexus is weakest, feeding off its power, before venturing off in search of other, more physical prey.

What were once large forests are now blackened and twisted, tall and proud trees now gnarled and broken. Forests changed from open spaces to claustrophobic and uneasy spaces where explorers are easily lost.

Even the smallest of the native flora did not escape the release of the planets energies, now aggressively growing and reclaiming parts of the planet. But even the most generous botanist would be hard pressed to find anything redeeming about the nightmarish forms they have now taken.

5L51ty1.jpg

Intent

To give a dangerous and dark side infused world to set adventures upon for any faction (rather than the traditional Korriban/Moraband), be it Jedi attempting to cleanse, Sith trying to leanr ancient knowledge, criminals looking for a crazy score, or rangers hunting a criminal who has taken refuge on a dangerous world. A place where artifacts, holocrons, and other such things might be hidden, and provide opportunities for dungeon delving style missions. Originally posted last timeline, thought a planet with links to both previous timelines could be nice to tie them all together.

Jedi Knight

_
.
Saul Devan

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Saul Devan, a Jedi active during the Legacies Era, was never one to sit idle. Though early life on Kef Bir could be hard, such trials only prepared him for a place in the Jedi Order. A long running anti-authoritarian streak left him a little bit of a firebrand at times, but also brought his eye to injustice when he saw it. And in a galaxy like this one, Saul saw it everywhere.

_

Biography

The people of Kef Bir held themselves firmly in the light, ever wary of the risk of giving themselves over to darkness and ending up as broken as the ruins that scattered their world. Saul has been no different.

And indeed a wandering eye kept a lookout for darkness in any location, any person, leaving a man who consistently questioned, poked and prodded all in his life. It was that strain that left Saul wary of authority even in his younger days, leaving often an outsider to the politics and persons around him until he felt ready to trust.

Sauls childhood was mostly uneventful beyond the strains of learning and relationships that characterised any young persons growth, and the hunting and land work that was a staple in any life on Kef Bir. It left him with enough skills to rely on himself in times of need, and a community to return to if needed, even if he wasn’t always keen to be among them himself.

The discovery of his Force sensitivity took many years to fully manifest. Odd events that could not be explained, instincts that offered the right way, dreams of far off places in time and space. Such circumstances fed his curiousity, always another mystery to be solved, another sign to be interpreted. Many journeys across the planet and even into the stars to satiate himself, and try to understand such things.

It was only when in the hands of a Jedi that such matters began to come clear.

Not until his late teens was he finally identified, the extent of his connection made known to himself, and seen finally for what it was. It gave him a way off world as well, and into a galaxy far more vast than the world he had called home. There was a chance to explore, to see, and keep questioning what the galaxy had to offer.

Personality and traits

Confident and capable, Saul’s younger years kept him hard at work, life on Kef Bir never easy. It left him unafraid of stepping forward to act, and ready to undertake things under his own steam.

His curiousity had begun on trying to understand himself, but grew to a more general seeking to question the way things were. It left him often at odds with structures of power and authority, skeptical of their own claims until he could verify such for himself. Not an easy thing to feel when undertaking Jedi training, but his own curiousity meant he would teach himself much when he found others could not, or he did not trust them to.

Such worries did not necessarily leave him brash or irritable, but similar traits could be present when he cannot get a handle on someone or something, but he will act to find information when needed.

A sense of justice too fell from this, not accepting things had to be the way they were, or came about the way they said they had. It meant the questioning of larger stories, and the gumption to go out and try and see if it held up to reality. All that was left was to try and build a better one when it didn’t.

Powers and abilities

Still early in his Jedi training, Saul has picked up the skills any Jedi Knight is Raif tri n their younger years. Of self taught, as was the case with him, and many late night practice sessions when he could not understand his masters teachings.

  • Curiousity: One incapable of sitting idle, Sauls curiousity is something that runs both his mind and his hands, keeping him moving through thoughts and options on a regular basis.
  • Lightsaber Combat:A basis for any Jedi’s training was the use of a lightsaber. Sauls own proficiency with the weapon of the Order was something built over time, and ready at a moments notice.
    • Niman: The Jedi’s preferred form of combat, Saul gravitated to it as it pulled from so many areas, and allowed him breadth, even his on particular interests could be absorbed under its banner.
  • Force Manipulation: Only through training and practice had Saul taken control of his Force sensitivity, in charge of it rather than it leading him. Though still it did that at times, now as an ally than a power he could not control. Energy manipulation had become effective and regular, as it was for any Jedi, though still images haunted him, the possibility of foresight real, but terrible.
  • Hunting: An early life on Kef Bir meant he had learnt many great skills of simpler times. Tracking, hunting, riding, all were in the wheelhouse. None would say he was a master, but he knew his watch around each.
  • Stubborn: Not always considered a skill, but in the context of resisting the dark side, and holding true to ones on morals, stubbornness could be quite useful. So it had been for Saul, but it had yet to be tested by true Darkness.
  • Instincts: The first inklings of Sauls Force sensitivity came from his instincts. Always sharp to what was happening, a gut reaction that put him on the right path. They were strong things, and Saul followed them.
[/jumpto]Equipment

Jedi are allowed to keep few possessions, if any, when they enter the Order. Having constructed his lightsaber (two phase, yellow), Saul kept his own simple robes, patterned with Kef Bir design influences for general wear, and a set of lightweight armour should the need for it ever arise. Equally he wears small ear studs made of a metal native to Kef Bir, a reminder of his home planet, and the trials that brought him here.

Ilukai Koa

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Ilukai Koa, was a Jedi Knight active during 'The Force Eternal' era. Stepping into her knighthood just as the Sith were beginning to be revealed to the galaxy, Ilukai stepped up to face the darkness, just as her allies had done before her.

_

Biography

Burinjina was new to the galactic stage. Well, in truth it was barely in the wings. And Ilukai had grown up on a planet that scarcely knew of the world beyond until she was coming of age. But when it hit her, it hit her.

The capital of Wurrnedje was most accepting of offworlders, and in the restless evenings of the city Ilukai found herself long in conversation with the few traders, academics, and explorers that came to visit the planet. She heard tell of the history of the galaxy, of the Republic, the Empire, the Rebellion, and the Resistance. Stories like those only served to keep her mind far from the life she was living on planet, and to dream of a new world beyond when so many others decided to keep their heads low.

But it was not the only thing that set her apart.

Inklings of something other had been in her for a long time. A sense of what was coming ahead, of what people were like. It was not until a Jedi, following the tales of the Burinjina's strong Force connection, came to visit and show her exactly what that meant.

With her sensitivity revealed, Ilukai's existing desire to get off planet was fulfilled, shooting to Ajan Kloss to see what she, and the galaxy, could become. Learning the ways of the Force, of the Jedi, Ilukai had found herself taught by one knight, Saul Devan. It was not long before the revelations of the Knights of Ren and the Sith that Ilukai achieved Knight status herself. Upon hearing of her old Masters death, she made pace to Ajan Kloss once more, after extended time exploring and assisting in the Outer Rim, to take in the Jedi Order once more, and do what needed to be done.

Personality and traits

Curious, driven, strong-headed, more than a few choice words that seemed to fit Ilukai, all the way from her time on Burinjina through to her Knighthood. The middle child of a large family, Ilukai had to learn to stick up for herself in order to keep her voice heard. And she made sure when it was she had something to say, meaning what she knew she knew damn well. Alot of which was everything she could find out about the galaxy beyond her little city.

It kept her eyes and soul ever upward, always moving, and ready to take on whatever life threw at her, and it was always ready to throw plenty.

She was equally at home in the natural environment, as most Burinjinians were. She knew many of the plants and animals, and hardly saw a distinction between what was around and the people in it, an extension of her peoples overall world view. Discovering the Force and the Jedi's teachings seemed only an extension of this, leading to a particularly ecological, non-hierarchical point of view within the Order, and a seeking for Force heavy spaces, like a Nexus, or old Jedi locations.

Powers and abilities

imageOne truly home in the outdoors, Ilukai equally took to her Jedi teachings like few others. Drawing special attention to the Force, she always had a desire to understand it better.

  • Lightsaber: Understanding its role as an extension of herself, Ilukai has become capable with her blade, and is ready to use it when required.
  • Blasters: An unfamiliar tool to her, she can point and shoot, but little else.
  • Conversational: Always one to speak her mind when needed, it is good she values quietude and listening to balance it out.
  • Piloting: Another skill that anyone on her home planet could scarcely imagine having, her dreams of seeing the galaxy required learning how to fly almost immediately.
  • Survival: Much of Burinjina's economy was still agricultural, and local culture put great emphasis on connecting the people to the land they lived on. To that end, Ilukai knows a great deal of wilderness skills like many of her kin.
  • The Force: Excited to see the living embodiment of what had been until then part of her philosophy, Ilukai took to her instruction in the Force with ease.
Equipment

Ilukai had little of her own to take with her when she joined the Jedi. While her robes contained patterns relevant to her people, she kept her lightsaber (Orange) at her side, and little else besides. Only time would tell if she gathered more things to her,

Technician
_
.
Milash Herren

Excerpt · Biography · Personality and traits · Powers and abilities · Equipment · Roleplays

Milash Herren, was a technician active during 'The Force Eternal' era. Born between the stars, he intended to stay in them for as long as he could, knowing how much there was to find out beyond...

_

Biography

Being born onboard a starship held certain things Milash came to see as formative for him. For one thing, you were always on the move. No one destination was home, barely even the cot you slept in, which meant one was always ready to uproot oneself, and needed to be excited about seeing just what would be next to stave off frustration. And secondly, one was always close to the end of their days. A missed decompression or a bolt giving way and anyone, everyone could be gone. That was what had happened to his mother, anyhow, something slightly wrong on one of her routine inspections, and bang. Straight out into the beyond.

He still remembered the funeral, there had been no body. But, if nothing else the collective effort to keep on keeping on meant that the pain didn't last too long, it couldn't. And he doubted she would have wanted it to. And that meant someone needed to take up the mantle. Milash took up his tools as best he could. But without her there to teach him, he couldn't learn it all.

So, instead he did something new, and set foot on solid ground. Mon Gazza wasn't much of a home, but it offered a whole lot of work in the podracing scene for someone with his skills.

Engines everyday got him the skill test of a lifetime, and the harsh hours and worse pay meant it was do or die down there in the thick red dust of the planets surface. But he came through it all, and eventually scraped enough together to get off world once more. His soul had been screaming out to get back in the stars, and he was going to find a way to do so.

Personality and traits

Inquisitive, quiet, calm under pressure, Milash inherited a lot of traits from his mother, or so he was told anyhow. Though he could definitely get defensive when talking about his work, javing ot protect himself from other vulture-like mechanics on Mon Gazza when things didn't go right.

Beyond it, Milash is used to small communities from his childhood, and once he has made that bond is ready to go to many lengths to make sure it's maintained, and those in it are safe. And indeed he longs to get back to such small crew scenarios once more, after his extended stint in the bustling, terrifying games of Mon Gazza.

Though machines are clear, with answers and tics one might learn in time, people to Milash are harder beasts, and just as fascinating for that. He likes to know what makes one thing go and another not, and that applies to every aspect of the world, not merely the mechanical ones.

Powers and abilities

image
No Jedi or Sith, not even a gunslinging criminal, Milash knew how things worked, and how to fix them, and that was just how he liked it.
  • Mechanics: Each and every piece has its certain place in the larger machine, and if Milash wasn't being modest he could figure out an apparatus reasonably quickly, and build one if the tools were handy.
  • Blasters: An extended stay on Mon Gazza meant keeping oneself safe was a must, he knows the basics of what to do.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Milash has always been considered a good listener, if nothing else.
  • Piloting: Growing up on a ship meant knowing what to do with it.
  • Repair: Both building and fixing units and equipment, Milash has jury-rigged his way out of more than a few disaster scenarios at this point.
  • Cooking: There can be quite a lot of downtime aboard starships, and that means putting effort into hobbies. When the ingredients were available, Milash learnt many a recipe.
Equipment

Never one laden with credits, Milash's greatest personal asset is 'Veecee', a Vanguard-class Probe Droid who helps him with repairs, and remains his constant companion. Otherwise, a datapad, fusioncutter, and blaster round out his equipment.

Five Syndicates

Zaa Fenn

Expansion from Eriadu
With both the Sith and the Sector Rangers muscling in on Eriadu, it seems all too likely that all out conflict will be hitting the planet in the not too distant future. And while the Zaa Fenn might be able to take control afterwards, Marissa has no intention of seeing their whole industry caught between a conflict like that. With their meteoric rise continuing, it had onyl been a matter of time until they expanded to all parts of the galaxy. And the time to start that was now.

Making the Muun of it
The Jedi Order recently helped treat the Ubese people on Uba IV from a mysterious disease. Would be a shame if those people would be suffering from mass spice addictions next, right? Flood the planet with cheap spice, forcefully hook them up if you have to, but make sure to call it "The Jedi Medicine".

Participants: [participant #1] and [participant #2]

Serenno Subterfuge
According to a connoisseur of the spice-producing spiders that live in the Kessel Mines, some of Jedi have accidentally forcefully migrated a rare breed all the way to Chandrila. It'd be a shame if our large.. slug-like.. connoisseur would have to go without the spice from his favorite sub-breed of Kessel spider, right? Right! Now get moving and get us those spiders back! They've made a little colony in the forest just outside Chandrila's capital. Tip: Freeze them before transport.

Participants: [participant #1] and [participant #2]

Naboo Nights
Goes without saying that the Pyke Syndicate is pretty mad over the Jedi Order's attack on Kessel. That's so much lost revenue it could fund an Outer Rim sector for months! Looks like there's a lot of unused medical supplies on Uba IV from that diplomatic outreach mission the Jedi did there... would be a shame if it got stolen (and the Ubese people only had "The Jedi Medicine" left to treat their ailments.

Participants: [participant #1] and [participant #2]

Utapau Underhand
So apparently Bestine is a planet where Jedi have recently 'mediated between two hostile factions' of Mon Calamari and Quarren. Guess its time to return the spark to that ancient feud. It is said by Preef Callo himself that the best way to reignite old feuds is to kill family members of each side and blame it on the other. Should be easy enough, right?

Participants: [participant #1] and [participant #2]

General Notes
You can sign up for multiple missions. If you're reading this and you're not a member of the Five Syndicates but would like to participate, feel free to sign up anyway. We'll get in touch with you over Discord to check if you want to be a one-off hired gun or interested to join the faction. This mission pack is to see the Zaa Fenn expand off world and away from the thumb of the Sith and the Sector Rangers, decentralizing their operations.

Five Syndicates

Zaa Fenn

Badda-Bing, Badda-Boom, Badda-Bestine

Men and arms are all well and good, and the Zaa Fenn are amassing quite the little collection of them as their operations expand across the galaxy, and their name becomes renowned even beyond the Cymorrah Syndicate. Plans are being made, orders carried out, all with sights on quite a prize. But plans like these need a little more firepower, a corvette's firepower, to be exact. And with the Cydonia Crusader Class Corvette sitting at drydock at the Bestine Shipyards, Marissa sees the Zaa Fenn's chance to acquire it.

Break the Arms
The Cydonia is held in place at drydock by a pair of mechanical arms, locking the ship down from moving while repairs and refits are made. But for our heist to move quick we cant wait for control to unlock them. We need them gone. We need those things rigged to blow as soon as we're ready to jump out of there. Perhaps a remote detonator? I don't care how you get them on there, just make sure they're ready for when we need them.

Participants: [participant #1] and [participant #2]

Sweep the Legs
While the Corvette is in lockdown we can't just fly onboard, our easiest is entrance is via the drydock. But even with our work to weaken the ship, we still have to break through the stations security. Perhaps it would be better if it was out of the picture? Get onboard and get those cameras, those turrets, those droids, down. The Zaa Fenn have a slicer you can bring, or else any way that you can think of, but we need them compromised by the time we act. Get it done.

Participants: [participant #1] and [participant #2]

Stagger the Body
Most of the crew are out of the ship on shore leave except for the personnel needed for the refits. It would be particularly useful if they were unable to rejoin the ship before we make our move. Kill them. Intimidate them. Sabotage the orbital elevator, its up to you. But we can't have them around if we want this to be easy.

Participants: [participant #1] and [participant #2]

Take the Head
Now's the time. With the crew indisposed, the security scuttled, and the arms ready to blow, all we need to do is break in through the shipyard, and beeline for the bridge. We blow the arms and warp out of there. What could go wrong?

Participants: Everyone interested from the previous threads.

General Notes
You can sign up for multiple missions. If you're reading this and you're not a member of the Five Syndicates but would like to participate, feel free to sign up anyway. We'll get in touch with you over Discord to check if you want to be a one-off hired gun or interested to join the faction. This mission pack is to steal a corvette class ship for the Zaa Fenn.
