Huh.

Alright so the redhead was now temporarily blind and still seemed to know where she was going and where he was because, he was just assuming here, the Force was kind of a balancing thing when it came down to it. He tutted a little bit even as he stayed to the left of Xiann so they wouldn't be running into each other. Seeing that the redhead was following him? He kept moving to the left and she kept following him so Xian, who hadn't moved, would be further right than she could stand face-on to.

All the thinking about circles and circling was making his dizzy though so he was almost glad of it when the Twi'lek made a gesture with her hands. He wasn't going to question the fact that she had come up with something for them both because he was just hoping to avoid attacking alone.

He was attacking high huh?

Well then height it was!

Using the Force, Crix reinforced his legs, the muscles surging with energy and potency before he launched himself forward. Arcing forward, he would bring his vibrosword down at Hera's head with both hands in a downward swing. It probably looked cool as hell but he hoped that Xiann actually had a plan below him because he didn't fancy landing without legs just cus she didn't do something to guard.

"Rah'la." Drast would repeat to himself. "As for my mom and sisters, they been dead for years. Oinkella and the Oinkettes are with the Clan of Gamor's that hang out around Yavin."

His grip would tighten around the hilt. "Maybe if you're a fish race that doesn't bathe. It's called Galaar or Hawk. Mandalorian bladesmen have used it for thousands of years. One of many styles and forms they used to cancel out saber forms. Ladies first."

She found his banter to be slightly telling in that it came off as more flourish than substance. Either his family members were dead as stated and it had been long enough ago not to be such an open wound or it was a fabrication entirely in order to cause her to falter in resolve. Either way, it was said for effect and struck no nerves as the man didn’t launch into an attack as though he had been provoked. Perhaps he just had a measured control over his emotions. Whatever the truth, it didn’t affect her in the least.

Rah’la preferred to fight defensively, countering attacks rather than initiating her own. That did not mean she was at a disadvantage being the one to lead off, she just didn’t care to. ”That’s very interesting”, she commented in regards to the Mandalorian history lesson. She had begun to move to her left in an arc about his position so that he would have to pivot his stance in order to keep facing her; if he did not then when she struck out towards his side his reach would be hampered after his initial counterstrike.

Her left side presented toward him, her ignited saber held upright between them, and as she moved, her right arm was extended for counterbalance to her rear much like a dancer might do. She fully expected him to slash down with a two handed chopping motion and if he did, Rah’la intended to allow his strike to aid her momentum in a turn toward him with her right side. If timing favored the young woman, she would attempt to brace her right hand upon his forearm for a jump into the air so she might pedal kick him in the side of the head with her boots before flipping to the ground behind him. Then she meant to grip her saber in two hands and be ready for a slash horizontally at his backside.

Blocking out the sounds of the growing spectators, Rah’la launched her attack slashing out with her left-handed strike.

The Twilek went low, the Zabrak went high. It was a simple dual pronged attack from separate directions set in order to prevent Hera from blocking both appropriately. Simple indeed, but brutally effective. Though, Hera almost had to keep herself from laughing. It was a brutally effective attack when the attackers actually used effective attacks. She could see the Twilek moving through the force, communicating the plan to the Jedi. But she didn't exactly expect her to grab her blasted ankles.

As Crix swung at Hera in a Force damned leap-what was he thinking?- Xiann snatched Hera's ankles. The Jedi Knight would, if this were a real duel, have used the Force to throw the young padawan to the side while kicking backwards as Xiann came in to grab her ankles, aiming to plant a heel hard directly into the Twilek's face. Or perhaps, more cruelly, she would have spun backwards and cut the twilek in half while she dropped to the ground. If she ducked down to cut her in half, she would have effectively ducked under Crix's swing and cut her opponents, literally, in half.

But this was not a real fight. And Hera would not disgrace herself by acting with such violent intent. Instead, she stood still and planted her feet as Xiann grabbed her ankles. As Crix came in for the swing, rooted in place, Hera used the Force to yank the Padawan's body directly forward, towards herself. Her lightsaber came up to block the vibroblade easily, right blade up and left blade off to the side.

But the block had barely any effort behind it. Mostly it was made to keep both sword and lightsaber away from bodies as all three would likely find themselves in a heap atop each other. Crix's body, if Hera was successful, would slam into her chest to chest and cause her to fall over. Hera aimed her fall to, hopefully, fall beside Xiann instead of atop. If all went well, it would be fun to fail, just as Hera would like.

Drastus' eyes skipped from Rha'la to her feet, then to her shoulders. He was unsure if she had ever had any proper training or if this was all knew to her, but from his training with his father from years past, he always remembered one particular lesson above the rest: Expect the unexpected, and in reverse, do the unexpected.

Based on her form and the way she moved, she had all the grace of a dancer, and likely the balance to go along with it. He held is guard all the way to the last possible minute, his blade lowered, but not in a swing. He would twist at the waist, his blade shifting right, parallel with his chest to catch the saber and allow it to glide along the length of the blade. With adding no force to his swing, she would have to work harder for a flip. His feet firmly planted, he put weight into his left left shoulder, aiming it for her head as now her whole right side and chest was now exposed. He had every intention of being a rock wall for her to just bounce off of.

If she expected to use him as leverage, he would have to rob her of that. Agile meant she would try to get airborne, that would be her advantage.

Oh his leap attack was gonna look so cool and… and he was coming in too fast.

Kark – he was coming in too fast because she had him caught in the Force in a Pull! Resisting would be the smart credits but he wasn’t really in a position to do much mid-flight as it were. How the hells had Hannibal’s signature attack fail? It had worked that one time against a Sith Lord so it made total sense that it would work in other ways too!

Alright so maybe not total sense but enough sense.

His sword clashed against one of the sabers of the saberstaff but he was actively trying to minimize damage rather than fight her at this point. There was an expression he remembered about how the greatest swordsman didn’t fear the second greatest but rather the worst. One of the reasons why? Accidents happened when the worst was being beaten. To prevent his sword from becoming a danger to himself and the others, he pulled back on the attack even as he bodily slammed into the knight at speed.

Was she wearing chest armor? Because it felt like he had hit something only slightly soft before it was hard enough to hurt.

He would crumple, doing his best to keep his sword tightly within his own grip and close to him so he could keep it within sight and under control. Groaning slightly, he would start laughing as he did so.

“Alright… jumping might have been dumb.”

Might have been hella dumb even.

The Ithorian watched in silence as Drastus worked to counter his Padawan’s own attack. Rah’la was far from a poor duellist but Oorrl had to admit he had never been a fan of the acrobatic forms preferring the more grounded principles of Shii-Cho.

The other Padawan, Drastus, was surprisingly skilled for a student who appeared to have not yet built his lightsaber. Perhaps he came from a rather martial background?

Oorrl had to admit he was finding watching the youngsters far more interesting than he would have suspected. Although he was admittedly still somewhat uncomfortable with this whole training in public business.

'That reminds me'

Reaching out through the Force he focused on the internal workings of Rah’la’s lightsaber and immediately adjusted the power setting causing the blade to pale and a soft buzz emit from the hilt as its strength was turned down to a safe training level. Feeling his student’s momentary confusion at the change he spoke calmly, but clearly, “Focus Padawan.”

Transferring his gaze to the other ongoing sparring session he saw Hera handedly keep the other Padawan and Xiann in check. Sensing the young Zabrak’s concern around his own blade the Ithorian Knight reached out with the Force to create a small Force Barrier around his sword. Too weak to dissuade any real strike but enough to give a few moments of safety while they regathered themselves so that it wouldn’t accidentally cut Xiann as they fell to the ground.

Xiann Attempted to pull the woman's ankles from under her, but she was too firmly rooted. How was she so well locked in place? Had she actually grown roots? The answer to that came quicker than expected, as the knight’s feet rolled back over their heels. Glancing up the Twi’lek realised the knight was now falling and about to land right on top of her, “Kriff!”

The twi’lek quickly rolled out of the way just in time to see the knight hit the floor with the padawan on top of her. For a moment she thought the pair had gained the upper hand but almost immediately realised that she had taken the impact and grabbed her opponent. The knight was clearly a vastly superior combatant to these two.

In a final swing Xiann brought the vibroblade down to the ground and hit next the the knights ankles, as if feigning to cut her tendons. While normally this would show a victory for the youngsters, the fact the knight was only in this position because she wanted to be, meant that it was no victory at all. She powered down the blade still laying on the floor, arm outstretched to the woman’s ankle, “Well, that was fun, if a bit humbling too.”

Hera laughed in the pile of bodies, deactivating her dual bladed lightsaber and slowly detangling herself from Xiann and Crix. Her hair a mess, her body sweating from the short, but intense, combat, Hera brushed herself off and offered a hand in case one of the others had not risen themselves yet. Nodding in response to Crix, she gave him a little bit of instruction, "Jumping isn't always a bad idea! But it usually is a bad idea. If you leap at your opponent, you must be in complete control of your body through the Force, otherwise your opponent will manipulate you to their advantage."

Turning to Xiann, she grinned like a loth cat, "It was fun! That's for sure! Don't be disappointed though, I have a lot of training. So this time we'll call it a draw-" Adding a wink, Hera continued, "Keep the vibroblade! Upkeep your practice and you'll overtake me someday."

Addressing them both, she gave a quick suggestion. "Watch the other battle, reach out with the Force and try to predict their movements. It will be good practice for you." At that, Hera moved a little bit away from the group. Sitting down on an overturned crate, she rested. The battle was over for now, and the show had ended perfectly.

Speculation being what it was, a person had to react to what actually occurred, not what they expected. Thus her plan to launch into the air with his forearm as a brace was instantly abandoned the moment he didn’t slash down at her from his initial stance. Gone was the extended overreach, the chopping axe motion that she had anticipated, and in its place was a lowered blade held horizontal to his chest between them. It was clear that he expected, being committed to her backhanded swing, that she would follow through and expose her flank to his inevitable counter attack.

As her saber came near to the end of its contact to his blade however, she drew the pommel of the sword sharply to the right causing the beam to angle sharply toward her left at the moment the two blades broke contact. Her free hand came up and gripped the hilt above that of her left even as she stepped forward with her right leg and dropped into a somersault across the ground and to his rear. While she hit the ground on her right shoulder, the blade was all set to slice across the man’s left hip.

That was when she felt the power flow change and she heard Master Fonwim’s words of caution. Her cheeks flushed a bit green for she had neglected to modulate the lightsaber to the lower setting for practice purposes. Although she was good enough to pull her swings, it was stupid to risk real injury needlessly. It was not like anyone in the crowd was going to be less impressed or even aware of the difference.

Rah’la returned to her upright stance once she came out of the somersault, her right hand retained its grip upon the pommel, and squared her stance to face him. Lowering both hands to her waist, the beam upright before her, she would have freedom of movement to block in several directions. The next move would be up to him.

Well untangling themselves from a pile of bodies and awkwardly placed limbs was very much on Crix’s to-do list because he was getting kind of embarrassed as to how he had landed. He knew that it hadn’t been intentional and the older Knight hadn’t drawn any attention to it but that didn’t stop him from feeling more self-conscious about it.

Staggering to his feet, he groaned a little bit and sheathed his blade. He was going to need to put a rush on the lightsaber construction if he kept getting into fights like this. Chuckling a little bit, he scratched the back of his head.

“At least I didn’t shout every time I was doing a move.”
He said with a grin, “That was about the only way it could have gone worse.”

He’d leave the giant cleaving attacks for enemies too dumb to fight back effectively. Speaking of…

“Drast! Your form looks as solid as a gas giant! You got this buddy!”

Xiann picked up the vibroblade as she stood up. She lazily swished the blade through the air, still unused to such a light weapon before tucking it into the sheath holding her wrench, “Thanks. I’ll get some more practice in.”

The trio turned and began to watch the others fight, “Come on Rah’la! Show him who’s boss!” She cheered her shipmate on, a rare deviation from her usual banter. The knight had said to reach out with the Force and predict their movements, did she mean the same way experienced fighters can predict their opponents' next move? Is that all the Force boiled down to? Experience? Not quite as mystical as she’d been led to believe.

Expect the unexpected. As he figured, she was an acrobat, but then again, so was he. She was far more refined, more classic in her approach where he was all street learned. No movement was over exerted as that led to a decrease in stamina.

He was watching her feet, mindful of what movements she'd make. The feet would always move before the rest of the body and as she pulled into her somersault, he was sure she figured he'd plant firmly, be too slow to react. She had pulled back on her swing, expecting to hit and that was extra timing he could use. As she entered her somersault, his weight shifted as he launched himself into a backflip, up and over her. So when her blade raced for where his thigh was, the flat of his blade was aimed for her cheek. Over the course of his flip, his blade would be in a stable enough position to defend.

Whether the slap was successful or not, he would use the force to push himself back a few extra feet beyond her reach for both clearance and a reset.

Hearing Crix's words, he'd just shoot his friend a wink. Martial combat was his zone and he was feeling it.
