DESCRIPTION
The Nimiety-class galleon was a type of armed transport ship originally designed and used by the Republic Frontier Corporation, some 9,000 years before the present day. One of the staple designs used by the RFC "trade" fleet, the Nimiety was a symbol of wealth and adventure to many beings in the Old Republic, and a symbol of terror and exploitation to many in the Outer Rim.

Blunt-nosed and straight-winged, the Nimiety was a classic example of Old Republic-era shipbuilding, with comparatively primitive but undeniably robust technology allowing it to range further and faster than many vessels before it. In scale, it was 325 standard meters in length, roughly considered a frigate under the modern Anaxes War College System. It had a crew of 1,500 beings, and could carry up to 500 passengers, plus 2,500 standard tons of cargo, impressive for its day. Despite ostensibly being a merchant ship, it was armed with then state-of-the-art blaster cannons, which was officially intended for defense against pirates and hostile aliens. The Nimiety did not possess modern deflector screens, but did apply a magnetic seal to its outer hull, making it highly resistant to the primitive beam tubes and pulse-wave weaponry used by many Outer Rim cultures of the day. These ships are not nearly so fearsome in the present day, of course.

Notably, Nimiety-class galleons could carry a complement of small ships aboard, a rarity in their day beyond dedicated carrier vessels. This complement consisted of up to 4 starfighters, or more commonly pinnaces, plus 2 shuttles or similarly sized craft. These could be used for scouting and survey operations, or for strike missions against hostile ships, stations and ground targets.

Nimiety-class galleons were easily the most numerous and widely used large ships in the Republic Frontier Corporation fleet, serving as everything from treasure ships bringing spoils back to the Republic to warships subjugating local populations for the RFC to exploit. After the destruction of the RFC and the liberation of its holdings by Republic authorities, however, vast numbers of these craft - and their precious cargoes - were never accounted for. They were common as pirate ships for several centuries afterward, although even these cannot account for all the galleons that went missing. The type has inspired tales of lost treasure and ghost ships for millennia.

In the present day, space-worthy original examples of the Nimiety-class galleon are exceedingly rare, although their wrecks can be found in many parts of the Outer Rim. Many of those that do exist are preserved in museums; one particularly famous example is the RFCS Providence, which was intercepted by the Republic Judiciary while attempting to spirit high-ranking RFC executives off Alsakan. It is preserved in the collection of the Bureau of Ships & Services Heritage Museum. Several modern reproductions of Nimiety-class galleons have also been built, and are mainly used to record period holodramas.

LEGALITY
Legal. Nimiety-class galleons are classified as historic vessels, and are legal for civilians to own, although an individual would find one very hard to maintain. Under Galactic law, however, civilian-owned Nimietys must be disarmed.

INTENT
To create an historic vessel once used by the already approved Republic Frontier Corporation. These would mostly appear as wrecks and/or set pieces, although functional examples might be found.

RESTRICTIONS
Nimiety-class galleons are large capital ships with (relatively) heavy weapons, and such vessels cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. They may be acquired as faction assets, however, or be jointly owned by at least 2 individual characters.
