DESCRIPTION
The NT-242 features a durasteel barrel, muzzle break, barrel shroud, receiver, and stock. The stock is encased in a thick pad of rubber, intended to minimize the incredible recoil from this rifle. The handle and trigger are made of plastoid, as well as the standard handgrip attached in front of the trigger guard/assembly. Though the factory minimum sighting was a flip-up holosight with a plastoid mounting rail, many came standard with dual-zoom (10/20x) scopes due to the long-range use of the weapon. It was not uncommon to see an NT-242 with a bipod mounted near the muzzle break.

Originally manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop as a heavy-duty tank buster for the Trade Federation during the Clone Wars, the rifle was soon retired due to the enormous recoil and unwieldy size. Despite being pulled from standard military issue, the longblaster continued to be manufactured for civilian use as a "hunting rifle" under BlasTech Industries. Some have modified their NT-242's to allow more shots to be fired before overheating, and even rarer are rifles modified with a disruptor shot (intended for use against vehicles during war).

Thanks to generations of reliable performance and excellent sales, the NT-242 continues to be manufactured to this day, though many who carry it are heavily scrutinized where they go. The excessive firepower is frowned upon for use against humanoid targets, though some bounty hunters and criminals continue to use them even so, including the infamous Grummgar. Many people have a difficult time firing this longblaster due to the profound kick that is barely dampened by the rubber stock cover. Therefore, it is most commonly used in a prone position, where the rifle can be braced, or by people of immense size and strength.

LEGALITY
Legal in most places. However, the unique size and profile of this weapon may draw a lot of unwanted attention to anyone carrying it in public and garner extra scrutiny from law enforcement due to the excessive firepower.

INTENT
To bring an imposing, hard-hitting sniper with a unique profile from Star Wars Canon to the site's fanon.
