Buyers had been invited to a warehouse on Omega, hidden away from major streets and among other featureless, boxy buildings. Two guards stood outside the small entrance door, each one with a slugthrower on their hip and some sort of baton stun rod in their grips. One of them had a flat, paddle-like instrument on his belt - a metal detector.

One by one, as the potential buyers approached the guards, they would be asked to raise their arms as one of the guards scanned them for weaponry, which they had been previously advised to leave elsewhere. A couple - both Twi'leks and dressed quite nicely - were turned away when a small vibroknife was discovered under the lady's dress. A shouting match ensued, and it ended with two more guards emerging from the building to forcibly drag the two of them away from the premises.

Once inside, the room was completely empty. There were no chairs, just a big open space. On the opposite side, on top of a raised platform where a ship might've once been parked, a blue holoprojection of a pedestal with the item at bid flickered and wavered every few seconds. Members of the Blood Pack gang patroled the suspended bridges that hugged the walls, armed with blasters and keeping an eye on those below. Mars wasn't taking any chances with something like this on the line. She couldn't trust Force users not to pull stunts, and she had no way of knowing who was or wasn't one.

The Fourth Shard of Palpatine's Shattered Crown. Some gathered below knew exactly what it was, but most of them would only know the name Palpatine and his legacy. Either way, it would fetch a nice price, and be one more step into getting the Crimson Dawn back into this business.

Mars sat just outside the barrier of the holoprojector in a separate room, waiting for everyone to arrive before she stepped out and began the bidding. She had her full mask on, and those who were in attendance would only know they were buying from the Crimson Dawn. For now though, she would watch them through the cameras, tapping her vibroclaws against the arm of her chair as she waited.

Something had tugged at his mind a few weeks ago, unknowingly to Wodan at the time, it was his own Shard piece telling him another had been found and brought into the light of the Galaxy. Though the Firrerrian quickly put two and two together once he heard about the auction. With more security in his position within the Galaxy after his meeting with Altair, Wodan quickly left the company of the Warmaster before the final confirmation and paperwork could be completed. Racing towards Omega Station and the Shard auction.

As advised Wodan left all weapons on his ship, although the Imperial was still a dangerous weapon without a blade or blaster at his side, so he was not frightened of being within the auction room unarmed. A half-mask covered the scarred side of his face, the accompanying white armour and robes distancing himself from the Sith persona he had been fulfilling these past years.

He knew as soon as he entered the room that the Shard was not here, no Dark presence lingered within the room and the shard beneath his uniform stayed quiet, unable to feel its sibling piece. Wodan took a central space near the front of the room, ready to bid with everything he could to secure the Shard.

Crimson Dawn. Gentis had nearly passed out when he'd realised his Gotra had been invited to an auction hosted by one of the five. Initially, he had thought it was some sort of exotic scam, a trap or scheme to get him off-world.

But Gentis wasn't that special.

When the invitation had been authenticated, he'd lept at the opportunity to mingle with some of the might and the bad. Then, arriving the day before the auction was due, he'd spent the evening making sure he would look the part the next day.

And he thought he had done an excellent job at that, at least.

Dressed in a brown tunic, a black waistband, and a chromium-plated chain adorned with three small effigies of specific Klatooinian deities dangled from his right hip. Gentis wore black gloves and boots to match. He looked every bit the Gotra-head.

Of course, he didn't have the sort of cash behind him as 99 per cent of the occupants of this warehouse. But they didn't need to know that.

With a degree of underserved confidence, he swaggered into the venue. Passing through the security, for he had nothing on him that they had forbidden, he took the whole event in. Mercenaries patrolled the overhead gantries, smugglers, drug barons, slyth-mongers, and more wandered around, the trappings of wealth and decadence clear.

Then, he saw what the lot was.

Palpatine. Everyone knew that name unless they'd been born under a rock. He had no idea what the item was, but he sure knew why it would fetch a high price. He pretended to inspect it, thoughtfully considering how much he would bid.

Anything to fit in, after all./size]

Representing the interests of one @Nor'baal Desilijic, his new employer, Kyp the Lepi mercenary was ready for anything as he entered the auction site. As advised, he had also left his weapons on the ship, although he requested that the guards allow him his Mandalorian helmet and chestpiece if, for no other reason that people were less likely to hassle someone that looked like a giant rabbit if they saw he had himself a piece of Mando hardware.

Of course, Kyp had no doubt that Nor'baal had sent him here because there was chance of harm befalling him. This was the heart of Crimson Dawn territory, a rival syndicate to Hutt Cartel and although no one was making a move against him, Kyp was aware that a Cartel emmissary was not a welcome sight. Fortunately, his affiliation and new job with the Cartel was not yet public knowledge so, as far as anyone knew, he could be representing anybody's interests at this auction. For now, Kyp did his best to get a sense of the atmosphere and auction participants, as he enjoyed the hors d'oeurves provided by the host. The damn things were always so hard to eat with the helmet on...

Vahliri was an exceedingly busy woman these days. Their expulsion from the Empire had effectively knocked the Sith Order from their position of power in the Galaxy, forcing them to fundamentally change how they’d been operating. It required them to work discreetly and from the shadows, instead of flaunting their presence wherever they went. Under normal circumstances, the half-Annfyn wouldn't have taken the time to attend the Crimson Dawn auction, when her focus was stretched thinly across multiple different places.

The subject of that auction, however, quickly warranted an exception to the rule.

Like the rest of the attendants, Vahliri arrived at the warehouse discreetly and quietly - slipping through the security checkpoints outside. She carried no weapons of any sort, while her features were hidden behind a featureless
silver mask and cloak. The Dark Lord deliberately kept herself shrouded and concealed within the Force, giving no one there any inkling of her true nature.

Without a word, Vahliri moved towards some of the seating at the front - taking her place amongst the other bidders. She could already tell that the Shard wasn’t present within the warehouse, but it mattered little. Crimson Dawn had a reputation to maintain, and faking the validity of their artifacts did nothing to further that interest.

For the moment, Vahliri sat patiently - waiting for the first round of bidding to begin.

One by one, the guests trickled in after being screened by security. Mars watched them through the cameras, dark eyes scanning over the faces and attempting to commit them to memory while she waited. When it finally seemed like everyone who was coming had arrived, the woman stood up from her chair, entered the projection, and came to a stop next to the shard. She placed a hand on the glass covering the object and stared into the camera from underneath her visor and mask.

"Welcome," she stated plainly, her voice echoing through the intercom system in the warehouse. "Bidding will now begin for the shard of Palpatine's crown."

"Bids will be submitted electronically and privately. Please submit them to the frequency provided to you at the door."

Darth Tempest allowed her gaze to flick around the room, practically able to see the anticipation etched into the expressions of those present. They all knew the value of the artifact at auction, even if few could ever dream of utilizing its true potential.

As the bidding began, the half-Annfyn turned her attention to the small console built into her seat. The simple press of a few buttons, inputting her opening offer, was all it took to start the bidding.

He was nervous, sweat dripping down his forehead, Wodan had hoped for an open bid, it would give him more chance to one up those around him. Or at worst learn who had the shard so he could take it from them after. Now it was all up to secrecy, hopes and prayers.

Wodan sent his bid across to the closed channel, a thick lump in his throat.

"Bids have been received, the event is now at its conclusion. The winner will be contacted shortly and we will proceed from there."

Acklay's eyes flickered behind the hologram's blue-tinted display, lingering on Wodan and Tempest momentarily. Guests would then be encouraged to leave the room by the guards present. She would review the bids received, the scale of decision tipping between monetary and something that could prove much more useful. In the end, she made her decision.

"Contact the Imperial," she instructed of a CD member. In the end, she decided to take opportunity over crowns and credits.
