From Sith invasions, to decapitations under mysterious circumstances, to drug addictions, the senators of the Free Worlds Alliance are nothing if not colorful." And with any luck, they'd stay that way. It was good for business, and what was good for business was good for Elora's paycheck.
"Chancellor Xerxes' proposal to sponsor an envoy from the Sith Empire to participate in future Galactic Senate sessions passed in a landslide vote only days ago, with both representatives of the ISC and the New Republic voting in favor of the proposition. Several Free Worlds Alliance senators were quick to criticize the plan, however, citing their ongoing war with the Sith Empire, the Senators of Kashyyyk and Onderon the most vocal among them. The Senator of Onderon decided to take his disapproval one step farther, officially withdrawing from the Galactic Senate.
"Onderonians have been weighing in on Switter and other social networking platforms ever since, and the consensus is that... there is no consensus. Many are outraged, claiming that by withdrawing from the senate, Senator Graves has limited their voice on the galactic stage, while others believe that he is protecting their best interests."
The Pantoran paused, for dramatic effect, and to catch her breath. Nothing had been the same since that incident at the Emryc Thorne Press Conference. "As if that wasn't enough to drive a wedge between free worlds citizens, this next news story is even more shocking and is still developing. While attending the 'Joining of Minds' conference on Ruusan earlier today, representatives of the Sith Empire revealed on live holotv that Senator Stythani, the newly appointed Senator of Rattatak, is actually a Sith! She had this to say following the revelation:"
Footage from inside the Dome of Ruusan began to play, Celeste Stythani standing at the podium in a fetching black gown. "Respectable attendants, before rumors start to spread I need to clarify one thing at first: I don't make a secret out of my past. I was born into the structures of the Empire and I had learnt that it is indeed capable of establishing order on the planet the Empire controls. I had tried to represent the Empire diplomatically for many years, but they have chosen to follow a different course, a course that I could no longer support...
"What happened on Kashyyyk was a tragedy. The Sith Empire keeps coming back at planets, especially planets that are under the influential sphere of the FWA and they've repeatedly wanted to take them in their name. They kept expanding, endangered countless of lives and took the homes of those who resisted. This is not what I call peace."
Elora Trevino appeared once more, smiling. "Senator Sythani is a new face amongst the political realm of the free worlds, and there's no telling how this admission might affect her career going forward."
