DESCRIPTION
Despite years of using the SS-54 Light Assault Ship as a workhorse of its Planetary Pacification Force ground operations, the ISC military made the decision to move away from third party products wherever it could reasonably do so. Outside of special deals with Blackwell, production was shifted to the ISC-owned and operated Driveyards of Christophsis and the demand was made for a light assault ship capable of acting as part of the PPFs (Planetary Pacification Forces) or independently. The resulting Ordalos-Class Light Assault Ship can be considered by many to be a slightly stripped back version of the older standard used by the ISC during military operations. With a reduced weight limit and slightly reduced armament capacity, the Ordalos-Class was deemed to still be a marked improvement due to the increase in speed that was achieved by such weight and power shredding decisions. The idea being that, working together, a pilot and a gunner can out-fly an SS-54 and still do enough damage to put it down in a straight fight.
As a design owned entirely by the ISC military and its contractors, the Ordalos-Class is also capable of being customised on request by ISC specialists who request the light assault ship instead of a standard issue starfighter. They are, of course, still expected to pay for said after-market modifications out of their own pocket. This is often achieved by several months of docked wages or by the specialists paying out of their own savings or accumulated funds.
