Zerath's nostrils flared in worry as he considered their predicament; as much as he liked Hailee's plan, it probably wouldn't work. [They're expecting a full van and two kids] he reminded Hailee. [Anything less than that is going to be immediately obvious.] Neither did they have the time to change clothes, he predicted; the underground ramp only descended about 10 meters or so before opening up into a larger garage, and stopping was not an option. The Miralukan's heart sank as he realized that, for once, he didn't have a plan in mind; at the most critical part of the mission, no less.

[Use your lightsaber if you need to] Zerath said, deciding that he'd rather deal with the consequences of that as opposed to a dead Padawan. Seeing the four guards standing by to receive the Astro in the underground garage- two on the van's right and two on its left- convinced him that a confrontation was inevitable. "You may want to stay down" he advised their captive, helping the man to a prone position in the back of the Astro.

"Hey, who are you?" came a voice from the driver's side; one of the four guards identical in armor and weaponry to the ones the Jedi had already encountered. [You take the left and I'll take the right?] Zerath asked Hailee, preparing to exit the side of the Astro at her signal. His lightsaber was gripped in his hand. [May the Force be with you.]

While her heartbeat was accelerating in her chest, her breathing was getting faster, too. They were entering the enemy's lair and the terrible in the pit of her stomach warned her already. 'Damn...you may be right', she admittedly telepathically as the first guards came into view.

So unfortunately it seemed like they were about to receive some unwanted action instead of executing a perfectly planned strategy. Lightsaber...yes. It was probably inevitable, but the color might spread some confusion amongst them all. 'May the Force be with you, too. Please take care'. She telepathically replied before she pulled the vehicle over and exhaled one last time.

Maybe she could still avoid using the lightsaber but she'd figure that out soon. 'Okay. Three, two, one, go' Hailee turned her head and opened the door with full force, immediately hopping out and sending a Force push towards the guard who were taken by surprise.

As they toppled over, she grabbed her blaster within a second and fired two precisely aimed and timed stun bolts their way. She immediately half jumped and half slid over the van's hood and aimed for one of the guards on Zerath's side, also knocking him out before she could do anything to the other Jedi while he only had to deal with the last one.

On Hailee's count, Zerath opened the side door, his lightsaber igniting in his hand. He heard the sounds of combat from the other side of the van, and stepped down onto the concrete while dropping into a defensive stance. Two weapons were aimed his way, and the Knight deflected the first shot- a stun bolt- with his lightsaber.

Just as Hailee cleared the hood of the van and took down one of the guards, the other guard fired his weapon at Zerath. Unlike the blasters wielded by the others, this one was a slugthrower. Instead of deflecting or absorbing the shot, Zerath's lightsaber shattered the projectile; sending superheated shrapnel flying into the Knight's chest. Zerath grunted in surprise as the pain registered; the light duraplast plates in his upper torso absorbed some of the damage, but at least four shards embedded themselves into the Miralukan's abdomen.

[Slugthrower...] Zerath's pained voice would gasp inside Hailee's head by way of warning, his lightsaber falling from his grasp and extinguishing as it hit the floor. He sank to one knee, clinging to consciousness, hoping that Hailee might be able to do something before the remaining guard was able to fire at him again...

The triumph over the three first guards faded quickly as their assault took a very quick, unexpected turn. "NO!", she cried out in panic as she watched her companion getting hit by the shrapnel. The slugthrower didn't just seem to catch Zerath off guard, but also fully surprised the padawan who only mananged to pull her gun again, aim from the hip and hit the last remaining guard with luck than Wit.

While she seemed to have been on a streak of good fortune, the exact opposite seemed to have been the case for the knight who dropped down and lost the weapon. Hailee immediately slid over to him, catching him before he'd topple over completely and with all of her senses on full alert.

There was apparently no one coming in just yet, but with the sounds of their Blasters, it wouldn't be a surprise if they had been heard. "No no no...it's okay, don't worry", she told Zerath, keeping her voice as soothing as possible as she tried to help him up and into the back of the van where the cuffed guard was waiting.

She was being very careful while heaving him into the truck and immediately facing the guard who was still with them. "You. Keep...quiet unless you hear something", she warned him, still sticking to her good cop role by keeping her voice soft, but the truth was, she'd knock him out if needed within a second if he played any funny games. "Okay breathe", she then told Zerath, taking a deep breath herself before she carefully laid a hand onto his chest. "We'll fix this". For as long as she wouldn't feel any presences approach, she'd try to heal the wounded skin before the pain could spread through his body. Her heart was racing and the first she did was letting the Force calm her as she needed it to focus, but the truth was that it was possible that someone would burst down there within a few seconds and she'd have to react immediately.

Thank the Force; Hailee beat the fourth and final guard to the punch and shot him before he could finish off Zerath. The man's slugthrower clattered to the floor, and a moment later Zerath felt Hailee's arms supporting him; helping him back into the Astro. He could also feel his robes already dampening with blood... his blood.

"Breathing hurts" he admitted, and so did talking, but Hailee's presence was enough to keep him from succumbing to the gentle embrace of unconsciousness. The pain even subsided a bit as she began healing him, and a twinge of shame raced through Zerath's mind as he remembered his earlier doubts as to her allegiances; no Sith could use the Force to heal.

Zerath had begun to lend his strength to hers, and two of the four pieces of shrapnel had been removed, when the sound of distant boots on concrete reached his senses. The pain had lessened to the point he no longer felt on the edge of unconsciousness, which was good because he was still in no shape to fight the three men approaching; a job which would fall to Hailee. Thankfully, these appeared to be wielding regular blasters, so Zerath called his lightsaber to his hand and pressed it into Hailee's; grimacing slightly as he realized that there was blood on the hilt, too. [Sorry about the mess.]

[The Force is with you, Hailee]
Zerath said, confident that he could wait to treat the rest of his injuries until the inclement danger was past. Hailee would feel faster, stronger, and more capable than she already was as the Knight sank into a Battle Meditation trance to support her efforts in defending them both.

Hailee's mind was racing, but she tried her best to stay focused as she begannto heal his wounds. The pain was probably the worst as such an injury wouldn't lead to massive bloodlust, but the pain was what would bring him towards the verge of consciousness and she needed to stop this from happening.

"You'll be fine", she assured him again, continuing to heal until she suddenly heard footsteps approaching. Despite her focus laying on the healing, her head spun instinctively. Of course they were coming...so they had heard her after all. She let out a sigh and met his gaze again, seeing that he was apparently better but still hurt.

"Don't be...we'll finish this off the right way", she softly replied, keeping her voice low and not minding the guard. She threw him a scrutinizing glance then, but he seemed okay and not interested in shouting around and so she left him for now. "You stay silent", she still warned him again before she telepathically added, 'and the Force is with you', to Zerath.

With that, she knew she had to hop off and deal with the incoming wave of attackers before they'd catch her off guard and so she left Zerath with a grateful smile as she accepted his lightsaber and jumped out of the van. She didn't know how exactly Zerath did it, but she could strongly feel his encouragement through the Force and so from the moment she dashed out she felt unstoppable.

She immediately sent a Force push wave at the attackers before she activated the lightsaber with a click om the activation button. It hissed into life at the right moment, deflecting the first incoming blaster bolt that had apparently been fired before she telekinetically hurled them backwards into the wall to her right before she darted forwards.

Within a second she closed the distance between them and Force pulled the blaster from the one closest to her before she incapacitated him with a firm yet careful blow with the lightsaber that was set to stun. Without much effort she dealt with the other two while they were about to regain balance as Zerath's meditation helped her wonderfully.

It was about then that she heard a faint cry in the distance and sensed the exact direction without doubting it would be the kids, and so with no attackers approaching for the moment, she left the unconscious guards and hurried back to Zerath. "Where would the boss keep the kids exactly and would I reach that just like that?", she asked the captured guard breathlessly while telepathically adressing the knight. 'You better stay here, I've got this'. She expected him to argue and would be fine with that as well, yet she was truly hoping he'd rather rest.

Zerath might've felt bad for the guards if they hadn't been part of multiple plots involving the kidnapping of children, but as it was he got a front-row seat to watching Hailee Lightwood kick a serious amount of ass. The equivalent of two Jedi Knights- for by now Zerath considered Hailee to be one in all but name- versus three guards? The outcome was all but predetermined, and the only question was how poorly it would go for the guards.

Six seconds later, the green lightsaber extinguished and Hailee returned; hardly breathing any heavier than before. Zerath couldn't resist a comment in the direction of their captive guard. "Just think" he said, not even looking at the man. "She's the nice one." The comment may have lost some of its weight due to the fact that he'd been seriously injured just a few moments ago, but the Force healing had Zerath feeling well enough to banter again so there was no way he was staying behind.

[There's more to this than just the guards, and we still haven't met the mercenaries' leader or their boss] he reminded Hailee telepathically, pushing himself up to his feet. His wounds protested, but he was a fair sight better than a minute ago. [I know you that can do this and I trust you, but we're better when we work together.] Something they'd repeatedly demonstrated throughout this mission.

[How about you keep the lightsaber and take the lead?] he offered, hoping the compromise might sway Hailee into agreeing to him coming along. [If we run into any trouble, I'll lend you my strength again.]

As soon as she reached the van, her gaze scrutinizingly assessed the wounded knight carefully. While he seemed better, he was far from good and the blood already soaked his clothes. She was about to protest as she could clearly see that he was still in severe pain, hence she opened her mouth at first.

She immediately closed it again though, not meaning any kind of disrespect and thus leaving it up to him to assess his own state appropriately. She wasn't happy with it and feigned a little smirk as she telepathically said, 'Okay. But take care please'. She bit her lip, shifting her weight where she stood and slightly nodded at this, however still hesitanly, but time didn't allow any discussions anyway.

The thing he offered about the lead was also answered with a nod as she replied, 'I can do that. I can't wait for the kids to be in safety and this to be over'. With that, she turned to leave, taking the lead with his lightsaber as agreed on but while having he'd alerted senses directed towards the front, she kept glancing back to him every now and then, checking in on him while proceeding.

She slowed down the moment the hostile presences drew closer, hushed voiced already audible. "Take them away, quickly. They can't be found!" A louder voice angrily bellowed, which made Hailee raise a brow at Zerath. 'You're Force Sight is excellent. How many are there and is it wise to rush in an surprise them considering their numbers?'. She quickly asked for his opinion, knowing that her gut and intuition sometimes led her to impulsive reactions, however maybe an immediate attack needed her as they were seemingly about to hide the kids. Still, she wanted to check in before two pairs of footsteps were already approaching...

[Me too] Zerath shared Hailee's sentiment, pleasantly surprised that she'd agreed to let him accompany her on what he hoped to be the final stage of this mission. How many more guards were under payroll, and who had orchestrated the kidnappings... and why? One way or another, those questions would be answered, assuming he and Hailee survived.

It didn't escape his notice that Hailee kept checking up on him, but that didn't bother Zerath at all because he knew that he'd do the same if their positions were reversed. His pain levels had dropped from 'curl up into a ball and cry' to 'find the nearest bacta tank', but even so he began to doubt that him coming along was the best decision. If Hailee's attention was split between him and their mission, then they could both be in danger.

His thoughts were interrupted by the unmistakable sound of footsteps approaching from around the nearby corner as the Jedi made their way through the L-shaped parking garage. At Hailee's question, Zerath stretched out his senses; seeing around corners was taxing but not impossible, and a momentary glimpse was enough to paint a grim picture.

[Weequay approaching, danger close] Zerath warned; if this was a holo, the man he presumed to by Xyloth would be accompanied by boss music. A stun baton was held in each hand, crackling with dangerous energy, and the confidence with which he walked made Zerath wonder if he'd fought Force-users before.

The rest of the picture was also important. [Hostages and two guards en route to a transport.] The kidnappers' plan was becoming clear; the Weequay would engage the Jedi while the hostages were moved elsewhere... and Zerath's health gave Hailee a decision to make as to which objective to focus on.

Hailee could literally feel the vibration coming from the foe that was approaching them confidently and with heavy steps. She shot the knight a quick glance at his report and took a deep breath before she turned towards the incoming enemy.

Zerath was in absolutely no state to fight and so she'd have to keep him away from the approaching enemy, deal with him quickly and hurry up while at it as the kids were about to be taken away again. No, not again, she thought with fierce determination and let her lightsaber snap into existence as she waited for tbe Weequay to round the corner.

In the very first moment he came into sight, she glared at him feistily, teeth gritted and herself close to running out of patience as the foes were apparently still convinced they could continue their vile game. The Weequay was too close to start shooting and his stun batons readily waited for the Jedi, but Hailee would not commit the same mistakes she would have done not long ago.

Instead of engaging first, she waited for him to let out a chuckle before she started charging at her, but as her lightsaber was already readied, the attack was no surprise. A quick assessing glance at the adversary told her that there was no way she could outmatch his strength and brute force and so her strategy was agility.

She immediately dove out of the way in an attempt to dodge the first attack before sliding to a halt and shoving the massive Weequay of balance with a force push. This would be the perfect moment for Zerath to lend her a part of her strength if he was still capable of doing it because she was in desperate need of some extra luck as Weequay didn't even topple over. While he staggered a little, it was fairly obvious that she was fighting against a trained combatant and that she only had little leeway for mistakes as time was running against them and such a skilled enemy could easily end their lives as well.

As Hailee moved forward to engage the Weekway, Zerath tottered over to a nearby wall and slid down it; grunting slightly against the pain and making a mental note to focus on his abdominal section first next time since they were apparently used for a lot of motions. One of his wounds had reopened and was seeping blood into his robes once more, but Zerath pushed aside the pain and tried to focus on his Battle Meditation. He could immediately tell that he didn't have much stamina left, but the Jedi Knight saw no point in letting that limit him; they were both screwed if Hailee didn't win this fight. Pausing only to click a button on his commlink, Zerath began meditating, lending Hailee his strength once again.

The Weequay stumbled slightly from Hailee's Force Push, before regaining his balance and swinging his stun batons at Hailee. First was his left baton, a cleave moving horizontal with the floor from the Weequay's right to his left; aimed towards her midsection to try to tie up her lightsaber. Immediately after, his right hand lashed forward in an attempt to stab into her ribs and end the fight quickly.

It became apparent that the Weequay was a skilled and worthy opponent who was literally nothing compared to the guards they had fought earlier. Hailee began to assume that while the others were novice mercenaries, maybe even thugs hired from a different sector usually, this big guy was serious about everything he did.

It was only with Zerath's help that she managed to dodge the attack by shifting her weight quickly enough and evading not only the stun baton that was aimed at her mid-section by an inch, but also the other hand that came zooming in. The evasive maneuver had a price though and so she stumbled backwards, landing on her back and bringing up her lightsaber while grunting from the impact.

Within a split second Hailee and the lightsaber defensively raised diagonally in front of her body, she waited for his next attack that came crashing down from above, a vast majority of his weight obviously behind the attempted stab right from above, but by calling on the Force once again and using Zerath's help she rolled out of the way so that his weapon made contact with the ground before she sprang up and attempted to strike him down from the side. With his weapon still on the ground and his own weight directed downwards, she was hoping to end this by stunning him and ending the fight.

Feeling beads of sweat gathering under his blindfold, Zerath pressed on. He refused to allow fatigue to remind him how tired he was, because it didn't matter. Hailee simply had to win. One way or another, the contest would be decided in the next few seconds; Zerath even withdrew his focus from his Force Sight and welcomed blindness in favor of pouring his last reserves of strength into the battle taking place between the Weequay and Hailee.

Hailee's maneuver- avoiding the powerful lunging blow from the Weequay- would prove as impactful as the mercenary's blow upon the concrete floor of the underground garage. He'd overextended and he knew it; in his lust for victory, he had been overconfident. Eyes briefly locked with Hailee's as he read the maneuver in the same moment she executed it, conveying all the knowledge that he'd messed up and all the helplessness that came with being outmaneuvered in battle.

No amount of regret could save him from Hailee's counterattack, and one of the Weequay's stun batons clattered to the floor as the lightsaber found a weak point under the Weequay's armpit. Fortunately for the mercenary, the lightsaber was set to stun, so instead of losing a limb he simply lost all feeling in his arm.

At this point, faced with a reeling and slightly disoriented Weequay, Hailee would feel the support through the Force from Zerath end as the Miralukan passed out. The advantage was hers, but she would finish this fight alone.

A tiny hint of triumph crossed her expressions as the lightsaber made contact with the Weequay who was about to realize that his rather reckless overextension would cause him this fight. With Zerath's last stamina reserves she used the Force to dull his senses and incapacitate him completely, making his motionless body land on the floor with a heavy thud before Hailee realized that the Knight's presence was no longer perceivable through the Force.

Worried eyes flicked over to find the man collapsed as well, visibly drained and apparently out for the rest of this fight which meant that she had to do the rest alone. She exhaled sharply and gathered her own last reserves of strength before she immediately started running.

She knew she couldn't stop now and had to stop the transport before the kids would be transported away again. She pressed on, gritting her teeth from her own strain, but luckily arrived right on time to spot one guard staring at her in blank horror while he was just about to board the van.

She instantaneously reached out with the Force to yank him away while simultaneously not stopping herself. "What is-" the second one on the passengers seat began, however, while he had leaned over and peered out from the opened left front door, his eyes widened in pure shock and disbelief as well.

"It's over", Hailee stated rather flatly, simply clinging onto the last parts of strength as she pulled the blaster and stunned the first one before she did the same with the second who was just about to pull his gun as well. With both men collapsing, so did the padawan with knees colliding with the ground first. It took a few moments for her to catch her breath and use the Force to relieve herself of some strain, but she was already sensing how she was closets completely passing out as well.

The only thought that kept her going was that the kids were still in the van as she could sense their fear through the closed back doors. She pushed herself up and back to her feet before she staggeringly zig-zagged her way over. She needed the van to stabilize before she was able to collect enough strength to open the doors, but as soon as her exhausted gaze met the twins, she exhaled in relief. "Don't be afraid...it's all over now. We are...Jedi and we're sent to help. We'll bring you back to your families". She felt dizzy and weak, yet she managed to bring herself to smile as she gestured for them to follow.

Hailee was desperately hoping Zerath would regain consciousness as she had no idea howmto bring all three of them out, but while the three - the scared kids and the completely exhausted padawan - slowly walked back, Hailee already tried to contact the governor and her women and men to extract them all.

Zerath felt a strong sense of deja vu as he slowly regained consciousness and discovered his lightsaber missing, before remembering why. The Miralukan struggled to a seated position, feeling his connection to the Force flickering weakly as a result of his fatigue. He didn't even try to stand up, instead accepting that he was one with the floor for at least five more minutes...

The fact that he wasn't dead or imprisoned told him that Hailee had won her duel, and a moment later he spotted the limp form of her opponent, horizontal on the ground. Zerath was almost jealous; it was unbearably tempting to just doze off again, but if the Grandmaster had taught him anything it was that there was no rest for the living. Zerath looked up as Hailee approached, the Padawan looking almost as exhausted as he felt but fortunately unharmed, as far as he could tell. "Well done" he said, his voice fainter than usual but no less genuine. "Knew you had it in you." In short order, Governor Kreloft's forces had arrived, bringing the Cerean another joyful reunion with her other child as well as some closure to their mission.

"So Gunnar Hardspeck, the man who owns this property, has run anti-Jedi campaigns in the past. He's also the one who tipped off the press as to our arrival" Zerath repeated to Hailee, as more information arrived as to who was behind the kidnappings- and why. "He was hoping that some Jedi would show up so that he could capture them and expose the Order as frauds." Zerath had to admit that the plan had nearly succeeded; if not for the damaged Astro splitting up the mercenaries, or for the incredible teamwork between him and Hailee, the plan might've succeeded. Instead, all of Ord Mantell would hear about the Jedi's courage and selflessness. "Governor Kreloft says that we've made many allies here, and that the Order is welcome to conduct more regular missions on the planet."

All in all, an exceedingly successful mission, and Zerath already had his next orders from the Council; stay put, and await your new Padawan. "What's next for you, Hailee?" Zerath asked. "Some rest?" He thought he remembered her saying something about needing some downtime.

Once back at Zerath, Hailee slowly collapsed against the cold hood of the van they had borrowed to make it to the enemy's headquarter. She was simply so glad it was over so that she almost started forgetting her body would not be able to go on for much longer. What Zerath said let a mainly grateful, however also slightly proud smile land on her lips and she was also glad that he was still holding on.

For now, her shaking knees were still managing to keep the padawan on her feet, yet she was swaying and holding onto the hood for more stability while the governor's people started flooding in. Seeing not only the Governor's family reunited, but the other parents getting their kids back as well made her so happy that her exhausted heart was still full. The arrival of all the others also meant that Zerath would receive the medical attention he needed right now and so the worries about her companion slowly began to fade.

"Anti-Jedi resentments still seem to grow...I'm glad we could clear our Order's name here though. Also, yes. I think we're on our way to building something greater here". She faintly smiled at the Knight, her body still betraying the exhaustion. "Rest...sounds amazing", she finally said to the Knight after they were left to themselves after a few conversations with both, the authorities and the Governor. "I'm not sure where I'm going but for now I'll rest". Still, if someone would call for help, she was probably one to immediately answer the call..."How about you? Will you return to Yavin?".

After a mandatory debriefing at the behest of the Governor and her people, Zerath found that nearly an hour had passed by since the rescue of the captives; time that had allowed him to recoup some of his energy, as well as the ability to stand. The Miralukan still opted to sit, however, for his conversation with Hailee; grateful for the respite after the frantic pace of their mission.

The days ahead were both scheduled and open. "I've been ordered to stay here and heal" he replied to Hailee's question. "Apparently, the Order has decided to assign me a Padawan." Zerath was surprised by the timing, as well as a little nervous. He tended to find trouble wherever he went, and the mission that he and Hailee had just completed together likely would've been a failure had he been working with a less experienced Padawan. As it was, his report to the Council would be full of praise for Hailee, whom Zerath considered a Knight in all but name.

With their time winding down, Zerath would make sure to leave his contact information with Hailee. "If you need anything, let me know" he said, a tired smile brightening his face. Perhaps their paths would cross again sometime in the future; for now, he would have to trust that future to the will of the Force. "Try to stay out of trouble, and may the Force be with you."
