Wait just a second. This academy may be funded by the syndicates but it is not represented that way. We are using our legit industry front and hiding the funding. So no one, not even the instructors know that the Syndicates are involved. @samdragon let me at least put you in the thread and convince you IC its a safe move. If not, then we can go another way.
You're literally setting this up to staff a fleet known as the Syndicate Armada, I think everyone knows exactly who the academy is for and how criminal everything is.

That's like me going in OOC and reading one of your PC's back stories and all open threads involving that PC, then going into my PC and roleplaying as if she knows everything about that character...

So what's the setup IC, what are you going to tell people this academy is for? Say the first batch graduates, and suddenly finds themselves stationed on a syndicate ship what is the cover that you'll use to make then not notice that it's a syndicate ship?

You can't just magically crop up an academy without telling people what its for, what is the IC cover?

The IC cover is the same as any other academy, when they graduate, they choose what fleet and what government, they work for. The catch is, these are mostly outer rim individuals who cant afford their schooling and sign up for scholarships paid for by unknown donors on the premise that they work for these donors for a 3 year period as soon as they graduate. Yes, as soon as they arrive at these ships and fleets, they will know, but by then, it will be too late.

Do you think half the US would have quit their jobs 4 years ago because Trump was signing their paychecks? No, they understand they got to get paid even if they disagree with who ever is in charge or paying the bills....

Its a hard life on Earth, but I imagine its a much harder life on a back water planet without the stuff we take for granted on Earth. So to think that they would have higher standards then what we have is saying alot...

Uh they might if they get a target on their backs for working with the Syndicate…

Okay, so that works perfectly fine for people who would be in it for the money, that is why I suggested getting teaching staff as a thread idea because that is something that you can. Find guys who were dishonorably discharged from their military jobs, or dirty cops and the sort and they would totally go with this. But a Sector Ranger? I hope not, because that's an excuse for getting fired, either for working for criminals or being negligent enough on the job to now know they were working for criminals.

Well then all it will take if for the 1st graduating class to just tell everyone that this is a sham, and then you'll never get another crop of graduates. So either you're super duper lucky and no one ever finds out that these academy students are gonna end up in a criminal fleet, in which case the first batch graduates, finds out the truth, and tells everyone so you're screwed. Or, and far more likely, the info comes out anyways and the academy collapses before even a single student gradautes because it was built on a lie.

It is infinitely better to own the fact that this is a academy for a syndicate armada, and simply attract people with offers of money, and an opportunity to make a life for themselves. Its a huge galaxy, even if just 0.1% of people signup for that you'll fill up your fleet.

That is a very irrelevant analogy. The equivalent would be people singing up to attend Trump University and then not saying anything when they find out it is a sham. But what do you know, people did complain and drop out when they found out it was a sham.

I would like to give an example…

Louis Lorsoni figures out that he’s now in the service of the Syndicates. Well, he’s got some friends on Sullust and the Republic that would be than happy to offer him protection. The next thing you know the academy is under fire because Louis was able to get word out about the huge scam.

FFS.... again.... we know it is OOC but IC we dont know shit...
I would suggest taking a step back for a bit if you're getting worked up over this, but try to keep things civil.

As Wit has already explained, it sounds blatantly criminal from a character’s point of view.

Im so glad we are deciding all of these things OOC and not IC.... Im doing this whole Fing thing to describe something that just comes with the territory.... an assumption that if you can buy something, you can use it like everything else on this site... Im going up a Fing beyond for something that means shit to others... and I am getting attacked for it.... What is the purpose?

Uh, Wit was explaining why it works better as a criminal op. He gave valid points and good reasoning why a sector Ranger probably wouldn’t be able to participate but a seedy pirate would (which was the original argument).

So far I have posted in this thread with means to make this a viable plot, you had a single thread which was somehow magically going to establish an entire academy. The moment you submitted that it was going to get rejected for a lack of effort, I can assure you of that. And if you got a sector ranger teaching at the academy then you'd easily blow up the entire operation because that will get unwanted eyes on a criminal enterprise.

If you read my last post it literally explains why doing things a little differently will better serve your overall goals, because you're overlooking some things that might hurt this later on. But at this point I don't care, take it however you will, and I just hope this doesn't blow up in your face later on.
