Palpatine Reborn! Is Xerxes Chancellor of the New Republic or the New Galactic Emperor?
Hello, darlings! I’m back with the best news of the Galaxy! The New Republic is on fire after the most recent Senatorial meeting. Chancellor Alexander Xerxes had declared the imprisonment of Senator Trina Kalist of Kuat during the session, under the accusations of Secession and Treason.
As soon as it was announced, many already started to question the legality of his move. Senator Kalist was among one of the most popular politicians of the Core Worlds, perhaps even more than the Chancellor himself. There are suspicions that Xerxes only ordered it because he felt threatened by her growing popularity and using these accusations he had the excuse to take out a possible rival.
While she was being arrested, Senator Kalist called Xerxes as Emperor. No doubt, most of his political decisions seem to be the work of a totalitarian leader. From his meeting with the Sith Empress without warning the Senate previously to this political gambit, the Chancellor seems to think that the Republic is his Kingdom!
As soon as the news of Senator Kalist's imprisonment had reached her homeworld, the people of Kuat had expressed their disgust toward the Chancellor. While many peaceful protests in her support had spread across the world, there were cases of violence. A New Republic administrative building at the planet’s capital was burned and razed to the ground by an angry mob screaming words against “Emperor Xerxes”. The guards and workers were chased out of the city.
Similar events seem to be happening across Kuat, with anything mentioning Xerxes and the New Republic being destroyed through different means. Rumors says that a group of Kuati plan to travel to Coruscant to protest to the release of their Senator.
The Kuat of Kuat said that the actions of the Chancellor are monstrous and worthy of a Sith. He said that will do everything in his power to take Kalist from her prison and denounces Xerxes as a traitor of democracy. Due to her popularity and charisma, several nearby Systems also support the Senator and now believe that the Chancellor is being arbitrary and anti-democratic.
