EQUIPMENT

DESCRIPTION
The Pathfinder-class scout ship is an aging but elegant class of long-range transport originally manufactured by a company known as Vangaard Industries some 40 years before the Clone Wars. Considered advanced in its day, the Pathfinder was marketed primarily to scouts and long-range couriers, and proved reasonably popular.

The Pathfinder is a deceptively large vessel, 36 meters in overall length with a crew of 2, space for 2 passengers, consumables for up to 6 months in space and a cargo bay with a capacity of 100 standard tons. Armament consists of a single medium laser cannon. Performance is decent for a ship of its age, with a 50 MGLT top sublight speed and a class 3 primary hyperdrive. Crew and passenger accommodations, while somewhat cramped, are decently full-featured, with the small corridor leading back from the cockpit to the engine room being lined with 4 bunks equipped with privacy screens, a compact galley, a small lounge and an enclosed head.

Originally, the Pathfinder was equipped with a novel defensive system, an energy-absorbing shield that routed any hits it received into the laser cannon power buffer, theoretically increasing the ship's firepower with every shot it took. Unfortunately, this system proved ineffective and even dangerous; both shields and power buffer had a habit of overloading after only a few hits, depriving the ship of both shields and armament at a stroke. As a result of this, most Pathfinders currently in service have been refitted with more conventional shields and cannons at some point in their service lives.

Thankfully, the Pathfinder's other systems are generally robust, reliable and easy to maintain, and so many of these sleek craft continue to serve into the present day. As ever, they can most commonly be found in the hands of scouts, couriers and adventurers throughout the Galaxy.

LEGALITY
Legal. Scout ships such as the Pathfinder are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring a ship from Legends canon into our site's fanon.
