This announcement was ridiculous and he hated it. He hated that half of the Government of the ISC was just absent and the other half was so desperate to see Emryc back that they were willing to play ball. Play ball to such a degree that they weren't even going to karking haggle on the price they were being asked to pay. Much as he loved the President, Carrick was honestly not so sure that he would appreciate being bought for 10 million credits.

The only potential positive spin he could personally think of was that it was 10 million credits and that was like 6 million crowns right now since the confidence in the Credit (and Republic) had taken another nose dive after Denon. Carrick stubbed out the cigarette he had been smoking and prepared a message to be shot off to the kidnappers.

"I am speaking to the kidnappers of President Thorne." He began with a serious air to him, "Discussions with the treasury and in light of recent events..."

The fan club were currently being massacred after all by terrorist Mandalorians - which was the next crisis he was going to be getting involved in.

"Five million credits worth of peggats has been left in trust of a team of Naboo Royal Guard on Kessel, with the Pykes ensuring it is to be given fairly." He frowned, "The location of the other half is to be confirmed only when the President is confirmed to have been released. Transmission ends."

With the private message to the kidnappers sent, he nodded to his staff to prep the public broadcast. The media needed their own slice of actually news or, as recent events had shown, they would make everything worse for themselves and others at the drop of a hat... Best to keep them fed.

He got the red light.

"People of the Galaxy - this is a short news burst regarding the ransom of Emryc Thorne. The ISC has released funds for the release of the President and, once he is secure, for a second payment to be made."

Carrick raised an eyebrow.

"The amount will not be disclosed or commented upon by this office. We are simply doing what must be done to ensure a swift release of the President. Thank you."

The transmission ended for the public announcement and Carrick decided that five minutes was more than enough of a break between cigarettes.

The amount and pick up arrangement is NOT made public and will NOT "conveniently leak".
