This is going to be different from actual Pazaak that we played in another thread. As an experiment, we'll be using standard difficulty checks instead, but with some Pazaak-like twists. Here are the rules:

1. You need to win 3 rounds.

2. Your situation in the round is determined by a single 1d100 dice roll.

100: Critical success

81-99: Rousing success

51-80: Success

26-50: Barely a success

11-25: Mild fail

2-10: Major fail

1: Critical fail

3. When both players end the round at the same tier (i.e. "Success"), it's a tie. A tied round is of no consequence. You just move on to the next one.

4. You have 4 cards on hand throughout the entire game. Playing a card from hand improves your situation by one tier. You can play multiple cards from hand per round, but must do it in the same post as your dice roll.

5. Instead of playing a card, you can stand. You stop at the tier where you are, and the opponent has to get higher than you to win, or equal to you to tie the round.

P.S. This ruleset is pretty much an experiment. I'm still figuring out how to make it as simple as possible, and most entertaining. There're probably some loopholes in this one that I don't even know about.

Round 1, Kel's situation.

87 = rousing success. So I'll play a card from hand to get "Critical success" and secure my position. Now the opponent needs to reach as high as me or lose the round.

3 cards remain in my hand.

Round 1, Chant’s situation.

20 = major defeat. I will have to play the next round to give it another shot.

4 cards remain in my hand.

Round 2, Kel's situation.

Another rousing success. And of course I'll play another card from hand to gain "Critical success".

It really feels off, Kel is too lucky in this game. Makes me feel I might need to adjust the rules. But I digress...

2 cards remain in my hand.

Round 3, Kel's situation.

68 is a "Success". I'll play a card to get to "Rousing success".

1 card remains in my hand.

Round 3, Chant’s situation.

1 is epic defeat. Chant reluctantly plays the cards and accepts the outcome.
