DESCRIPTION​

A sniper-rifle of a capital ship, the Peltast Star Destroyer was designed more recently than the Chimaera and was designed based on the Onager class of Imperial Star Destroyers and out of a need for a heavy-hitter against larger capital ships. Built around the length of the Superheavy Composite Beam Turbolaser array, the Peltast is mostly used as the offensive counter-part to the Chimaera class of Star Destroyers.

While armed enough to fight off smaller capital ships, and carrying a small compliment of fighters, the Peltast is designed to gut larger capital ships - up to and including Dreadnought and Super Star Destroyer sized ships. Battlegroups of Chiss navies will use multiple Peltasts to fire their main cannon arrays over large distances, making a devastating opening salvo that allows other ships to capitalise while they recharge.

Despite being considered flying super weapons, the Peltast Star Destroyer very rarely fires its main weapon - pre-Killiks, they were mostly used in large-scale demolition of space debris. Since the arrival of the Killiks, the Chiss have taken to using these heavy weapons against their dense ships.

LEGALITY​

Peltast-Class Star Destroyers are illegal for anyone by the navy of the Chiss Ascendancy to own and operate. If the ship were to be found in the wider Galaxy, it is likely that it would be heavily restricted due to it's nature as a capital ship.

INTENT​

To add ships to the Chiss naval roster that players may, or may not, encounter during their time in that area of space.

RESTRICTIONS​

Peltast-Class Star Destroyers are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. They may be acquired as a faction asset with staff oversight and direct interaction with the Chiss Ascendancy.
