DESCRIPTION​

The PLX rocket launcher, otherwise known as the "Plex", is an anti-vehicle weapon manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions. Originally developed for the Grand Army of the Republic, the PLX was intended to give the average infantry soldier a fighting chance against armored vehicles such as the Confederacy of Independent Systems' repulsor tanks. After the Clone Wars, it was used by both sides of the Galactic Civil War, and remains in service across the Galaxy.

The PLX is a simple weapon, not much more than a firing tube, a computerized targeting scope and a trigger. It fires a miniaturized concussion missile which equipped with a shaped charge warhead sufficient to pierce the armor of a medium battle tank; this missile can be either "smart" or "dumb". The "smart" missiles utilize an antigravity-seeking guidance system which homes in on the repulsorlifts used by most vehicles; they can be used to take down both ground-based speeders and low-flying airspeeders. While extremely effective, "smart" missiles cost more than unguided "dumb" ones, and thus the latter are more frequently used; these missiles, if left to their own devices, will fly in a straight line until they hit something, or can be pre-programmed to carry out a specific set of maneuvers in flight. Both types can be programmed to self-detonate after a specific elapsed flight time.

Of note, PLX rocket launchers generate a significant amount of hazardous back-blast when fired. It is advised that anyone firing the weapon have at least 4 meters of open terrain clear behind them; if not, serious injury or death can occur due to the effects of super-heated rocket exhaust in a confined space.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Rocket launchers are extremely powerful weapons, and are thus banned on most civilized worlds. Even on uncivilized ones, carrying one around in public is sure to draw unwanted attention.

To bring a weapon from Canon into our site's fanon, and to provide an example of a standard rocket launcher.

RESTRICTIONS​

In a PvP engagement, rocket launchers such as the PLX may only be used against vehicles. Care should be taken for any player characters driving or riding in said vehicles to be given the opportunity to bail or deploy countermeasures out before impact.
