Sol wasn't exactly a public figure, nor was a he famous, but nonetheless, the holonet would soon know his face, along with any across the galaxy that decided to listen. The Kel'dor flickered to life for all to see. There's only a few moments of quiet before the Sith Master began to speak, vocals thunderous and smooth, a honeyed baritone that echoed from the source of an encrypted, nondescript location.
"Greetings, people of the galaxy. I am Sol Kenuk. As many of you know, President Emryc Thorne recently made an announcement calling for action against the Killiks that now rampage throughout the galaxy. Rest assured, I and my fellow Sith have made significant progress with a weapon that may be utilized against this threat." Sol pauses, lets the information sink in as his fiery eyes shimmer behind his goggles. "But this announcement is about something different. As I have researched the Killiks, I have also done research into the Joined. I have discovered that the brains of every Joined I have examined share a similar pattern, a mutation, if you will. Each Joined has sustained heavy alterations to the corpus callosum, an important part of the brain that connects both hemispheres." Another pause, and Sol's expression remains unreadable and calm.
"It is our belief that the Killiks utilize this damaged part of the brain to disrupt the natural signals of the body with their own. As a result, the victim becomes what is known as a Joined, someone who's mind has been stolen from them." Finally, it seemed that behind his mask, a small smile flickered across his face, there and gone within a moment. But what Sol spoke of was not a lie, not an attempt to manipulate the galaxy. Still, Sol had his reasons for making the information public.
"I am not a doctor. I do not know if what I have found can result in a cure. If the corpus callosum is regenerated, and the damage repaired, would it free the Joined, and cure them of the hivemind parasite that has taken control? This is a question that I cannot answer, but there are many doctors and healers in the galaxy who might be able to investigate this for themselves." Sol points out. "And so, we give this information freely. Do with it as you will. Perhaps you may be able to find a cure for the Joined. Is it not at least worth a try?" Indeed, though Sol's intentions appeared benevolent, there was a far more sinister reason behind the announcement. It was simple, really. Such a thing coming from the Sith was sure to win the Empire favors across the galaxy. A strategic move that Sol and his partner should demand nothing in return.
Regardless of the intent, though, the information was genuine. Perhaps the doctors of the galaxy would be able to use it to find a cure, or perhaps not. Time would tell.
Respective thread in which the research was done. Also @Wit who wants Jasnah to speak, and @LilyNion who might be interested in puting the Star Guardians to use here.
