Dune Sea, Tattooine

The twin suns bore down on Cairo Jax, directly overhead. Vision swimming, he forced one foot in front of the other, booted feet shuffling through burning sand. A short makeshift walking stick stabbed the sand, a blown off pipe from some aged speeder that he had found in the desert. A ripped length of tunic wrapped around the teen's face and head, its beige material stained with dried sweat and tears.

There were no more tears that he could cry, parched and cracked lips evidence of the toil the desert heat had taken on him. Stumbling, catching his weight on the pipe, Cairo looked up. Squinting, he glared into the shimmering desert, uncertain if his eyes were deceiving him. The more he stared, the more certain he was.

Water.

One foot in front of the other. Faster. Running towards life. Running towards... another large dune. The mirage evaporated before his eyes. Falling to his knees at the foot of another large dune, Cairo bowed his head in defeat. Soon, the desert would claim him.

The planet was known for its hot climate that spanned most of its surface save for the north and southern pole. Even there it was probably dry and covered in frozen sand. The only difference would be that instead of heat it was cold.

The red haired pilot of the light freighter was heading towards an archaeological site with excavation equipment. The client was some university study. The rumor was that the Dune Sea used to be an actual ocean. The local Jawas have made claims and some fossil findings and now there was an official project to get to the truth of the matter.

With a view in the sky Wesk could see a beautiful view of the dunes. The teenager was in a desert drab outfit along with a pair of sunglasses over her eyes. The windshield of the junky ship was not the best at polarizing the light from Tatooine's twin suns that reflected off the expansive desert.

The sharp eyes behind the tinted eye wear were always on the lookout for anything interesting. One thing that stuck out was the small speck. It did not belong among the dunes and Wesk thought it would at first be one of the local fauna. It warranted a closer look so she dropped her altitude. As she got closer she realized it was a person.

"Odd. Perhaps he is from the excavation team. Unlikely but let's check it out." Her talk was mostly to herself. There was an astromech droid beside her. It's dome turned to look at her letting its aged servos whir for a moment. The droid was just as beat up and worn out as the ship but what was important was that they both still worked. Gradually she would bring the ship down into a circling approach and touch it down a few dozen meters away from the being on some flat ground. The sand kicked up as it was blown by the engines and repulsors.

The roar of a subspace drive ripped Cairo from his contemplation on death, the teen looking up with weary eyes, shielding them from the sun with his hand.

A junky old freighter circled down to land smoothly. Cairo was wary, but hopeful. Hauling himself to his feet with the help of his scrap stick, he glanced at the sharp pointy bit at the end before turning to face the landed ship. He couldn't know whether the ship's occupants were saviors, or just a return of the thieves who had killed his parents and stole their water harvest before casting him out into the desert. If they had come to finish him off, he wasnt going to go down without a fight. Not like last time.
