The New Republic and the Free Worlds Alliance formally announce a summit to decide the fate of Sector Ranger jurisdiction.
Supreme Chancellor Emil Ro announced today that, following a meeting with a representative of the Free Worlds Alliance, the Alliance and the New Republic have agreed to open talks over which government ultimately holds jurisdiction over the Sector Rangers. The date and time of this summit are still pending.
Details of the talks have not been fully hashed out between the two governments, but the Chancellor's office did confirm that it would consist of a representative from the New Republic, the Free Worlds Alliance, and the Sector Rangers themselves.
The Chancellor had the following to say on the upcoming talks:
At issue is to whom exactly the Sector Rangers owe their allegiance. Currently, the Rangers fall under the jurisdiction of the Free Worlds Alliance. Yet their headquarters remains on Coruscant, and much of their funding and the equipment they have been provided come from the New Republic. It is the sincere hope of my office and of the New Republic Senate that these talks will resolve the current issue so that our two governments can resume their focuses on more important matters, such as the Sith threat and the AMS pandemic.
