Blackwell Research Lab, Coruscant

It's getting evening time on the city world that never sleeps, Newton Arden was going through some emails as his day was winding down. A couple hours more to go then he would go home, but first he had a meeting to have with a "Problem Solver". Newton knows what that entails. Everyone has problems, even Blackwell. Problems that need to be dealt with. Not just with questions, but other people, or entities. Although Blackwell is on top of the foodchain, one of the most prolific mega-corporations, it still has rivals, namely in Czerka.

Although, she has quite a mouth, or voice modulator in this case, Newton's assistant droid L3-35 is very efficient in what she does, being an assistant droid, keeping Newton's workflow and appointments sorted. While Newton was sitting down, his companion astromech droid M7 was close, at his side.

It's almost appointment... he knew, courtesy of a reminder from L3. "Sir, it's almost for your meeting". Newten then leaned back in his chair. "Alright, thank you." Newton would gesture his finger towards the door for L3. "Now if you don't mind, wait outside and escort Mr. Reyes through the door," L3 complied "Of course, certainly don't want him getting lost" she snarked.

With that, L3 would be waiting outside the door way, ready to escort Mr. Reyes to Newton. Should Reyes decide to be punctual, L3 will still be standing by.

Sharply dressed yet armored and armed, the white haired man known as Gaius Reyes approached the research lab, walking and smiling confidently like he owned the place, something that was just second nature to him. Gaius didn't really visit the planet much apart from when it was needed for his job, Coruscant was just a very well decorated trash heap in his eyes, didn't really care about the place and he was glad he left it, but when duty called and he had to work, he didn't really mind it, it was just a place like any other, after all, he just had some personal troubles with it "I guess you are Mr. Arden's droid, right? Lead the way" He said as he approached the droid, following her into the research facility.

"Thank you darling" Gaius told the droid as they to the room, quickly scanning Newton, he did look like a roboticist, a smart man, which made sense since he chose to get Gaius to help him with his problem "Nice to meet you Mr. Arden, hope I didn't make ya wait for too long" Gaius said before sitting in the chair in front of him, his stance casual and laid back "So, I just know the essentials for now, I know that our friendly competition is getting a bit less friendly, but I need you to give me the details and tell me how do you want to handle it"

"Of course" L3 would reply with as she escorted the cybernetic man to her master, and then point him towards the door. "Have a nice chat" the droid would say and then giggle after being thanked, and would stay outside as the door closes behind Reyes.

Newton heard the door open right back out, he would stand up and turn towards his guest when he came in. The first thing he noticed was his outfit, and what appeared to be a prosthetic in his eye. He was curious, was that some sort of replacement eye? Is it simply a fancy eyepatch? As a person who loves to work with droids, he is curious about cybernetics, combining machine with flesh...

But that's not why they are here, they are here for business.

"Nice to meet you too Mr. Reyes, and no worries. And you can call me Newton." he nodded his head. His timing could be better, but he didn't see any reason to be rude here. Time is money, but sometimes a little patience goes a long way. Newton does like that Mr. Reyes got straight to the point, he likes that.

"Yes, that is correct." he would sit back down in his chair, turning it to face Reyes and then fold his arms. "So, i've heard that Holowan Laboratories, the makers of the old IG droids are developing some sort of prototype quote security unquote' droids." he isn't sure if Reyes was familiar with the IG droids or with Holowan Laboratories, but if he has questions and cares to ask them, he would be happy to answer them. But even so, he had a question for Reyes though. "How would would you care for some cooperate espionage? "

Gaius winked at the droid as it left with a little smile on his face before turning to his soon to be bussiness partner, so, it was Holowan laboratories after all, eh? He wasn't a droid person, one that knew many models and all of that, but he did know the IG droids, hell, some of them tried to hunt him down for a bounty before he managed to dissappear from the galaxy and get himself a new name and identity, they were a successful bunch, theese Holowan guys, but that just meant that it was in their best interests to toy with them a little and make sure that are at least a bit under Blackwell's level.

"Yeah, I know about 'em, I've had a few encounters with the IG models, good quality, gave me a little more of a fight than the average mook." Still not good enough to keep him down, though "Espionage is something I am pretty good at, you have called the right man for this job, however..." Gaius moved forward a bit, leaning on his hand at the table, his smile, while still charming, looking a bit more menacing, the face of a man that had come so far by ruining lives "I assume you already have an idea of the lengths I need to go to in order to complete some of the jobs I do, right? We can do a bit more than observe" His eyes locked on Newton's while tapping on the table with his other hand "Sabotage is on the table, so is "taking inspiration" of those prototypes and then sabotaging, I am up for...well, everything, I'm versatile if anything. But I need to know where do you draw the line, how far are you willing to go in this operation Newton, what is too much for you?" Gaius asked, his eyes looking at Newton as if he was analyzing him.

This Gaius fellow seemed eager to get to work, he asked pointed questions about how he wanted this done. Newton would lean back in his chair and stroke his chin as he would ponder how exactly he would want this done, and see what avenues of approach there can be for this. "Well, I definitely want to take 'inspiration'. Maybe both, maybe there could be an 'accident' that could happen and set their progress back a little, like deleting their data. But definitely I want to see what they are up to, and see how we can develop a better product." he nodded his head.

As for how far he wants to go, he would then explain how he feels on it "Where I draw the line... not at all costs." he isn't comfortable with people dying, even for a rival developer. "Preferably this is done with non-violence nor massive damage. That would just attract attention, not looking for this to be done in a way that causes long term consequences, either for me or for Blackwell. If this could be done clean, without leaving a trace, that would be much perfered" he would say to his the Blackwell problem solver. "Are we good with that?" he would ask.

Well, Newton seemed like a sensible fellow, the kind of person Gaius didn't really mind working with, of course, Gaius had ways of covering up his kills when it was necessary, but not wanting to kill some random dude that was probably just doing their work was totally understandable, Gaius threw out the option but didn't really recommend it, just wanting to see what type of person Newton was "Aye I have done a few of these before, I can work with this, being sneaky is something I am good at, we'll be subtle then, they won't know what hit'em and will probably blame their poor workers with it" Gaius nodded with his head as he said that, not the first time he got someone fired as collateral damage, but oh well, if their rivals fire them because of Gaius, they can always come work at Blackwell.

"So, inspiration, maybe an accident, got it. Anything else you want to share Newton? Any details you know that you want to share with me? Be it any extra info about the droids they are working on, the facility we are going to visit and ways to get in so we can plan ahead, people we have to look out for, things like that" The problem solver asked once again, planning ahead was just as important as being good at improvisation, extra details could allow him to take the proper tools for the job "And of course, I gotta ask what your strengths would be in this operation, in order to synergize" Gaius would ask once more.

The man wants as much details going into this as much as possible. "I don't have any other information, but the facility they are developing from is on Rendili" he shrugged his shoulders, Rendaili is a planet in the Core Worlds, so it's not far away from where they are now. Unfortunately for Gaius' curiosity, but Newton's hot tip didn't really tell him anything else other than what they both already know. "If we want to know more about the facility, we could scope it out first to prepare."

Newton would then answer the man's next question "I'm pretty good with anything electronic, especially with droids." If security heavily involves computers or droids, Newton would be great at getting past it. "I'm no operator however" he isn't one for the field, having little combat training. "Although yeah, I heard you are pretty well-rounded and versatile..."

The roboticist did have an idea occur to him, as a way to infiltrate the facility. "Hmmmm, what if, one of us, or both of us applied for a job at the facility. We could get a better look inside, and may make infiltrating easier, we could potentially have unimpeded access through most of the lab..." he stroked his chin, contuining in thought.

Newton thought that sounded like a good idea, with resumes like these two have, they should have no problem getting a job offer with Holowan.

Well, not many details, but they could work with that, he did similar jobs with less information in the past, and while Newton wasn't probably the best at sneaking around, his expertise in electronics would make getting through any security and the sabotage part much easier, Gaius would focus on leading the way and making sure the roboticist could get to the objective without being spotted, he usually did those operations alone but Newton didn't look like a clumsy idiot who would be spotted minutes after entering, so it was all good.

"That doesn't seem like a bad idea Newton, buuuut..." There was always a but, unfortunately, but the negatives of each plan had to be brought up "Holowan is most certainly the kind of corporation that would run thorough background checks on us and realize that we worked for Blackwell at some point, and if soon after they find out things are breaking apart a little bit in the same building, they'll probably piece two and two together, and if they even catch a glimpse of us during our infiltration after seeing us applying for jobs, we're definetly done for" Gaius explained, it was not a bad idea, but they had to look at the pros and cons "Not totally against it, of course, but if we apply for a job, I would stick to only get information and not sabotaging. Alternatively, we go blind and do both, not the best of conditions, but I do think we can pull it off, it's your call" The problem solver explained, giving Newton two choices.

He brought up some good points, Newton would nod. Maybe sabotaging would have to be put on hold, but they can definitely still take 'inspiration', steal what they are looking for and make something better from it. That was how Blackwell came to be, stealing something good and making it worthwhile. Newton has no qualms with this.

"Those are good points. Sabotage would be unlikely since they are likely to know it would be us. But, the main goal is still achievable, getting our hands on their schematics. You are right, they are going to do background checks, but I didn't really have any intentions of hiding that atleast I worked for Blackwell, I figured that would make them more likely to want us because of work experience on resume. From this path, this may take more time to reap the rewards, but I think it's safer. " The alternative is going in blindly, which is blatantly criminal, and has a bigger chance of ending in arrest or death of someone, and that could be either him, Reyes, any one at the labs, or a combination, something he'd perfer to avoid. "If we don't have any other ideas, lets go with that. I'll apply, you'll apply too? And we should get calls in a few days or so. If all goes well, you'll get compensated for your service, deal?" The Blackwell Manager asked.
