The large arena was silent, two combatants facing each other twenty meters apart in the center of the huge circular arena. Sand covered the arena floor, and the sun beat down from above. There was only one thing to do. Kill or be killed.

  • One generic level 1 Force user
  • One single bladed lightsaber.
  • Clothes

  • Keep fluff to a minimum, focus on technical detail
  • Instructors will be posting observations and advice throughout the thread, once every posting round or two.

Jabhar knew that he had to fight, and so he was not going to delay any longer. The Exile ignited his lightsaber and brought it up to his right side, with both of his hands on the hilt. The weapon was resting so that the top of the hilt was even with his chin, and the crimson blade was perfectly vertical. He stood with his left foot forward and his body turned so that left shoulder and left foot were pointing forward. His weight rested on his right foot which was even with his right shoulder to allow for quick movement forward should the need arise.

He was a reactive fighter, and so he would wait for his opponent to strike first.

Titus did not rush to make any sudden moves once the fight began, instead looking closely at the field and his opponent. He noticed the wall of the arena 10 meters behind him, as well as the exile that he was fighting move into a fighting stance 20 meters ahead. On his own part, the jedi would light his own yellow-bladed lightsaber and hold it horizontally at his waist; the blade itself coming across his body as he slowly advanced towards his opponent. Though he might have appeared lazy and unguarded to his opponent, Titus knew to anticipate a possible overhead strike meant to attack the area not covered by his guard, and was ready to bring his blade up if the exile showed any sign of making an attack.

Assuming that the exile remained in his own guarded position, Titus would begin to draw upon the force as he came within 10 meters of the exile. Still approaching at no more than a brisk walk, he would take the few seconds that it took to reach the final 5 meters of distance between them to build up the force in his left hand, ready to use it to launch his first strike.

Seeing that his opponent was approaching, but not moving quickly, Jabhar realized that it would probably have to be his prerogative to strike first. As much as he preferred to be a reactive fighter, Jabhar knew that he did not want the battle to go on indefinitely, so it had to begin some time.

Concentrating on his rage, Jabhar closed the 5 meter distance between the pair with two long strides, leading with his right, then left. As the distance between them closed to about a meter, Jabhar used the gather momentum and swung down with his lightsaber from his top right to the lower left, aiming to strike at Titus’ left shoulder and carve down to his right hip. Simultaneously, he planted his feet in order to stop his advance and avoid barreling into his opponent’s drawn weapon. His right foot would be planted slightly ahead of his left, with his weight balanced on both as much as possible.

As the exile moved forward for his attack, he might have seen a slight grin appear on Titus' features. Just as he had anticipated, his opponent was moving for an overhead strike as had been hinted by his previous form. As soon as the man began his attack, Titus was ready.

He would take a step to the left with his left foot, bending his knee as he shifted his body slightly away from the path of the incoming lightsaber, while simultaneously swinging his own weapon in a high clockwise arc. The lightsaber was aimed to intercept Jabhar's mid swing, and deflect it in such a way that it would move harmlessly past Titus' right flank. He did not have the strength with only his right hand to stop the attack in its tracks, but he only needed to make sure that the gathered momentum landed somewhere that wasn't a part of his body, a fact only helped by the direction in which the weapon was already moving. Then, the gathered momentum would work against Jabhar, preventing him from altering his swing midway through and allowing Titus to take the offensive instead.

As the attack passed on his right Titus would aim his left hand at the exile's legs and release the Force that he had gathered in a powerful concussive blast aimed just above the hands ankles. If the attack connected, Titus hoped that it would blow his opponent off his feet; at the very least unbalancing him enough that the jedi would have an opportunity to press his advantage.

He had not expected his first attack to be successful, considering the skill that he had assumed his opponent had. The quick sidestep and following deflection of his attack was to be expected by one who was versed in basic swordplay. As he momentum carried his swing past his opponent, Jabhar noticed the man open his left hand and felt the slight disturbance in the Force moments before it was released. There was next to nothing he could do to stop the blast, so instead of allowing it to his him with the full force, The Exile deactivated his lightsaber and allowed the momentum of his swing to carry him forward into a forward roll. He took the blast to the legs, but it was not nearly as dangerous of an effect as if he had been knocked onto the ground.

Jabhar followed through with the roll, getting back to his feet without issue and reactivating his lightsaber the moment he was upright, spilling with his blade pointed forward in front of him to meet his opponent head on for a counter attack. He would have no opportunity to strike himself, but at least he could defend.
