The Great Fair on Tirahnn was an event that attracted hundreds of thousands of people to the city every year. It was a massive bazaar where the only limiter in what you could buy was having enough credits.

It was truly a marvel to behold, something that everyone should be able to experience at least once in their life, but it was not the reason that Azra was on the planet today. No, she was here for something much different and more.. Work related.

A call for help had come across the wire from a businessman named Billiam Plorg, a man who’d made himself quite wealthy in recent months peddling whatever it was that he peddled. Unfortunately for Mr. Plorg, it seemed his business was a towering house of cards - some kind of MLM or Ponzi scheme, if rumor was to be believed - and he’d taken some money off of some people that it was not wise to take from.

Or at least, that’s what the hefty bounty on his head purported. Of course, Mr. Plorg claimed innocence in the whole thing, just another legitimate businessperson trying to get taken out by criminals not keen on his quick rise with fingers in their pies.

The local authorities were either too scared or busy to help or were in the pocket of the bad guys and didn’t care, it wasn’t quite clear. So that’s where Azra came in, a Jedi looking to help where she could. Or at least get to the bottom of things and if Mr. Plorg was operating some kind of racket and taking advantage of people, Azra would make sure he was taken to the proper authorities.

For now, though, she sat at a table near the main bustle of the Great Fair and sipped casually on a large bubble tea. She had no idea what flavor it was, the sign had been in a language she didn’t know, but she knew bubble tea when she saw it.

Getting to the job at hand would come in due time, but for now, she sipped and sat, the sun casting pleasant rays down on her head as she waited for the possibility of something interesting to take her attention before having to do the unfortunate task of applying herself.

Unlike Azra, Garvenhal was actually here for the fair. Specifically, the bugseller booth near the outskirts of the festival. He had lately been trying to re-introduce the endangered yellow-barred heliconian into the wild. The lovely-looking butterflies were nowadays only found in preserves, zoos and, in some cases, being sold to the insectivore foodies of the galaxy.

He spent the better part of the past hour arguing with the Kubaz vendor that he really just wanted the heliconian butterflies live and not grilled and dipped in honey. As such, he was pretty exhausted and was all set to head back to his hotel room, with his new insect buddies in tow when he got an update on his comm. Apparently another Jedi was also on planet, requesting assistance with some local huckster.

Garvenhal sighed. The bio-jar he was transporting the butterflies in would keep them sustained and immobile for another few hours. Much as he'd like to rest, he knew where the Force was calling him to today. He attached the jar to his belt and set out.

"I take it you're the one on call today?" Garvenhal greeted Azra after spotting her sitting at a table. He'd never met the Padawan before but the Force radiating from her body made her identity very clear to the Lutrilian.

Caul was practically vibrating with excitement as the transport shuttle made it’s final descent into Tirahnnn. Flags of every color and hue dotted the city scape and coalesced in a kaleidoscope of colors as the ship circled the multi-tiered city. Some of Caul’s happiest times had been on this planet. He could feel the intrusive thought pressing against the back of his mind, but he ignored it. “She’d be glad I was here,” he muttered.

Once out of the spaceport it took everything in him to not sprint directly to the great bazaar, so he did, like a little. He rounded a corner, breathing way harder than he should have been—

Oof! He uh…grunted? Caul felt himself go weightless, then felt his ass slam into the ground, “Watch where you’re going you little stim sucker!
Sorry!” Caul said, but he was yanked off the ground by the angriest Bothan he’d ever seen.
You’re lucky I don’t report you for assaulting a woman!” she barked.
A woman?” Caul blinked, the Bothan drew back and hurled him the way he’d come. She stormed off muttering various obscenities in a surprisingly wide breath of dialects. So much so that Caul couldn’t help but be impressed, that whole ordeal was almost worth it for the experience.

Eventually he shook it off and closed in on the market. He was about a hundred yards out when he spotted the flags. A mixture of excitement and panic ran through him as memories of his last trip sprang to the surface. He started off at a jog, being way more careful than earlier, he hit the top of the stairs and looked out over the massive labyrinth of stalls and storefronts. He could feel his anxiety drawing back like a wave preparing to break, but he didn’t let that stop him. This was the only way he could replace his modded Dejarik table, and Mr. Plorg was his only hope.

Yup, Azra said simply before finishing off what was left of her tea. Figured I’d take in some of the sights before getting to it, though.

Normally Azra would have been much more reticent about speaking to a random stranger asking questions, but there were more than a few people in the Order who just screamed “Jedi” based on little else than how they carried themselves.

Garvenhal was certainly one of those people.

Didn’t think they’d be sending back up, She said, not entirely veiling her mild annoyance at the idea of being accompanied by a Knight. Azra was more than confident in her ability to take care of things on her own - whether or not this confidence was grounded in reality was another matter entirely.

Unless you were just here for the shopping, I guess. She added, noticing the.. Jar of bugs? Hanging on the Knight’s belt.

Azra wasn’t really into the bug snacks herself, but she wouldn’t yuck someone else’s yum over it. She’d seen Hutts eat far grosser stuff than that. She shuddered just slightly at the memory.

I'm supposed to be meeting the guy around here eventually, She said, checking her chrono with a bit of boredom in her voice. Probably thought it safer to blend in with the crowd I guess. Seems kind of dumb to me, but what do I know. I'm not the one with a fat bounty sitting on my head for being a potential con artist.

I'm not a con artist, a voice said suddenly. It hurts my feelings to hear you say that. The last sentence came with a smirk, and if it was Mr. Plorg's intent not to come across as a con artist, it certatinly didn't help his case in Azra's eyes.

Neither did how he dressed, but there was no accounting for taste.

I didn't mean to offend, Azra said apologetically, doing her best to sound sincere though she sounded about as genuine as Mr. Plorg did. Glad you found us, Mr. Plorg. I'm Azra and my friend her is,

She paused for a moment, forgetting she hadn't found out her fellow Jedi's name. She glanced at him expectantly, hoping he would give it, just so that they didn't come across as amateur as she felt right about now.

Vebria sauntered through the crowd, trying her best to look inconspicuous. As inconspicuous as a pale, black-haired Zabrak in full black with a blaster pistol on her hip could be, that is. Had it been a normal day, she could have enjoyed perusing through the wares at the various booths that lined the halls of the bazaar. But today was not a normal day. Today, she was on the hunt.

She lazily ambled from stall to stall, not really looking as much as listening. Her target, a Billiam Plorg, was not incredibly hard to track down. But he was an even harder man to find. Well-known enough among the bazaar denizens, it seems, she thought to herself. Knowing nothing more than a name when she stepped foot into the Fair, Vebria had been able to find out a few things. He dressed in a gaudy vest with a billowy long sleeve shirt, multiple rings and necklaces adorning his body. Plorg also frequently wore a pair of round glasses with jeweled accents on the arms, and green tinted lenses. The strangest thing about the man, it seemed, was the fact that no one could agree on what species he was. Vebria found that some said he was a troll, most likely some mix of Gangrian and a smaller species. Others she asked - or overheard - told her that he was Evereni, or Arkanian. But all agreed that his skin was a pale shade of blue.

Vebria muttered under her breath. A pale blue-skinned man, wearing gaudy trader's clothing, with pointy ears. Shouldn't be this hard to find. As soon as the thought crossed her mind, it was as if the space-angels granted her an unsaid wish. "Glad you found us, Mr. Plorg." She looked towards where the voice came from, and in the near distance, spotted her target. "Talking with business partners, it seems." The Zabrak grumbled, spitting on the ground. Her eyes darted skyward, looking across the buildings nearby for a vantage point where she could more easily track her prey while still being able to take stock of the extra 'weight' Plorg was lugging around. Finding nothing satisfactory for the moment, Vebria crept slightly closer, keeping out of sight until she could be more certain of who the other beings were. As she listened, she busied herself with converting her A180 into it's rifle configuration.

Caul stood outside of a storefront just off the main strip of the great bazaars, the banner above the door read, ‘Mr. Plorg’s Gaming Emporium!’ He tried the door, but it didn't budge. “Oh, must not have hit the button hard enough,” he hit it again. Nothing. He hit it again, harder. Nothing. He punched it, “Ow, son of a bit– Gah, you gotta be kidding me!

Caul sighed as his heart sank into his shoes, he’d been scammed. He spotted an alley off to the right, shoved his hands into his pockets and started to look around while whistling to see if anyone was paying him any attention. Once he was convinced no one was watching he slipped around the corner and made for the rear of the building, he’d be damned if Mr. Plorg was gonna get away with screwing him over.

The back of the building looked like any other, the alley way was dank, condensation bled down the painted brick leaving stains of slime down the walls, the door to Plorg’s Emporium wasn’t in any better condition. Caul frowned, there were blaster burns on the lock. His hand slipped to the butt of his blaster which he’d stuffed in the waistline of his pants behind his back. He took another look around, lifted his left hand and with the force, he slid open the door…

Levet looked around the bazzar but was not very surprised to see the Lutrillian Jedi Knight to be absent. There were lots of distractions and just as much foot traffic which made it easy to lose people in a crowd. The armored padawan had volunteered to help Knight Garvenhal on his quest to reintroduce the yellow-barred heliconian. Levet had an affinity for plants and animals so he thought it would be an educational trip. Plus, the planet had a history with Mandalorian mercenaries tracing all the way back millennia. Supposedly, if rumors were to be believed, the infamous Silent Badger had called this place home and was even his final resting place.

Now the Mandalorian Padawan struggled to see over the crowds. He had grown recently, both in maturity and also physically. But that still only went so far as to help him see over the heads of the diverse crowds that walked between the colorful stalls. "Where in the Force did he go?" He saw a bug seller which Levet had a feeling Garvenhal had been talking to but still no sign of the Knight.

Groaning like the teenager he was, he followed it with a sigh and moved through the crowds until he eventually spotted who he was looking for. Sitting opposite the responsible Knight was a somewhat familiar face. Levet drew the conclusion she was a padawan or maybe a young Knight who he had passed once or twice at one of the Jedi Temples. That or he had seen her face on a perfume commercial. She certainly was pretty enough for it.

The Padawan began to approach the table coolly but stopped abruptly as something else caught his eye. A zabrak with a weapon kit Levet recognized was interesting. It was not unheard of for arms to be sold in this bazaar and for people to carry such things. The Vizsla himself was fairly well armed for a Knight-in-training. But it was their body language that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. Levet knew a predator when he saw one. Remaining out of the Zabrak's peripheral vision Levet held off on making himself known. The horned woman's eyes and shoulders both betrayed what her true focus was on. He waited to see what she would do.

"Garvenhal" the Lutrilian gave his name at Azra's semi-introduction. He learned from his time on Cato Neimoidia to never give more information than required towards strangers.

"And this is..." Garvenhal said, about to introduce Levet when he realized he had no damn clue where the boy ran off to. He suppressed the urge to sigh. This was why he preferred droid assistants over Padawans in the lab - a fact he'd told the Council multiple times. But did they listen? No they did not.

"...an interesting situation we find ourselves in. If you're not a con artist, then what are you and why do people think you are?" Garvenhal tried to recover from his verbal stutter and seem like the respectable Knight he was supposed to come across. Damn it Levet - the Padawan Azra was looking more professional of a Jedi than him.

What am I? Mr. Plorg asked indignantly, his hand going to his neck to clutch metaphorical pearls. I’m just a simple businessman trying to make his way in the galaxy. And I think I might have stepped on the toes of some rather jealous and nefarious individuals trying to keep a good man down.

Azra listened to Plorg pontificate with thinly veiled skepticism. Her Jedi training told her that she should probably - at least for now - trust that this guy was telling the truth (or at least his version of it) because she didn’t have evidence to the contrary.

Of course, her intuition was telling her the exact opposite, that this guy was covered in more slime than a Hutt’s snail trail, but she decided to hold off on saying that out loud for now.

Quite the pickle you’ve found yourself in then, Azra said, giving Plorg a solid side-eye glance. You can’t have a Jedi detail forever. How you gonna get yourself out of it?

Plorg flashed Azra a salesman’s smile, you know the kind. Somehow, against all odds, she watched him get slimier than she thought he was before.

You make a good point. I just need help while I get my stuff together and can get off this world and disappear. I already have a plan for that, but it was too dangerous to try to get offworld on my own. Thankfully I’ve got you to help me out.

Before he could say much more, Azra saw something start flashing on Plorg’s wrist comm. A red light, the universal sign for something amiss.

Looks like something tripped the sensors at my store. Bounty hunters I bet. We need to get over there right away!

The urgency slipped through Plorg’s otherwise suave and charming tone. Clearly, there was something in his store he didn’t want other people to find. Money, probably. But maybe something else.

Either way, Azra stood up from her seat and motioned for Plorg to start moving. Not like she knew where in the heck his store was. Looking to Garvenhal, Azra shrugged before she started following Plorg through the crowds.

You coming?

Vebria listened intently as she finished converting her rifle, slinging it under her cloak to hide it slightly. Hmm... so they're Jedi. Two of them, at that. Small security detail for someone with such a high price on his head. The Lutrillian faltered in his speech, Vebria wondered if maybe he was nervous. Heh, good. I can use that to my advantage. She rolled her neck side to side, getting any kinks out. Then, Plorg spoke about leaving the planet. A plan began to formulate, risky though it was. Vebria just hoped she'd be able to pull it off.

Before she could make her move, the salesman's wrist comm began flashing. The Zabrak grumbled as Plorg said the two words she didn't want to hear right now. Bounty Hunters. As if she needed competition right now. Alright, I'll just stick close and make myself known later. Plenty of time for the plan to be put into action.

Vebria rounded the corner, keeping her rifle hidden as she began to blend with the crowd, following the pair of Jedi and the conniving businessman. The throngs should serve to keep her hidden from them... provided there was no one looking for her.

Levet continued to observe discretely at a distance and was glad to not see the Zabrak take hostile action. But his suspicions were not entirely gone. The woman's body language and actions still told him she was abnormally focused on the others at the table.

The Mandalorian's eyes squinted behind his T visor. He did not detect enough aggression, sensing the supposed bounty hunter to be the patient kind. He kept his sense alert and his mind sharp in case he spotted other potential threats to himself or his cohorts.

Levet wondered if he should warn Garvenhal of the potential danger but decided against it. He could handle this on his own. Any signaling might alert the hunter they were being surveilled. For now the Vizsla would tail the stranger at a covert distance. Just as the Zabrak was hidden from the Jedi ahead, so too would Levet be from the bounty hunter. The hunter was now the hunted.

Caul eased his blaster out, extending his consciousness outward in an attempt to detect anyone present. He felt nothing, so rather than walking around carrying a gun, he slipped it back into his waistband. He relaxed a little, well as much as he could while committing a karking crime, as he moved inward he started spotting gaming memorabilia of all kinds.

There were VR headsets, fake lightsabers, fake blasters, cosplay outfits, and of course, the whole reason he’d come here, modded Dejarik tables. His heart skipped a beat, and he felt like he was floating. Caul was in paradise. He rushed forward, legs as if carried by angels as he drifted through what had to be a dream. He stopped in front of one titled, ‘Knights of Ren: Origins’

Caul’s eyes went wide as saucers, this was one of the rarest mods in existence. Quickly, he looked over his shoulder, confirmed no one was around, then pressed the on button. His face was cast in iridescent light as the world around him seemed to melt away.

CRASH!

Caul flinched, instinctively ducking, followed by a steady flow of profanity, his head whipped back looking for a way out, he spotted a staircase to the left, staying low he reluctantly slipped away from the table he’d just been drooling over. He chanced a final glance behind him, like a lover saying goodbye for what could be the final time. It took more restraint than he cared to admit that he’d nearly said, I’ll come back for you!

The Padawan hit the landing on the floor above, his feet did their little dance of panic before he spotted an ajar door, without hesitation he slipped in and pulled it closed behind him. He breathed a small sigh of relief before turning around. His heart sank to the floor… the room was full of guns, like lots of guns, like so many guns.

Dangit…” Caul whimpered.

"Of course, Padawan." Garvenhal said before going along with Azra. With that the Lutrillian walked in front of both Plorg and Azra, using his bulk to shield both from any incoming blasterfire or attacks from the front. Combat was certainly not Garvenhal's speciality - he was a scientist first and a diplomat second and a warrior...maybe twentieth? If that?

But he was still the senior Knight on this mission and despite the Order's fragmentation, its losses, and its screw-ups, being a Jedi still meant something to Garvenhal. Certain traditions mattered and even though he wasn't exactly thrilled about putting himself in the line of fire - for a conman no less- didn't mean he wouldn't do it.

"You know it can be rather difficult for a bodyguard to provide full protection when their client isn't providing the full story." Garvenhal said out loud, almost absentmindedly. He hoped Plorg would understand the message.

Much to Azra’s surprise, the trip to Plorg’s shop was rather quiet and uneventful. She had expected him to keep up his silver-tongued schtick while they walked, doing everything he could to convince his Jedi accouterment that he was a stand-up guy.

Instead, Plorg had spent most of the walk staring at the screen of his phone, a couple of rogue beads of sweat managing to find their rolling-way down his forehead. It wasn’t until Garvenhal made his comment that he managed to pull his attention away from his phone and back to what was happening around him.

You can trust me, he said, wiping the sweat from his brow and once again flashing that gotta-be-fake smile of his. I’m telling you guys the full scoop. I don’t know why these people have it out for me, I just know that whatever reason they have, it’s definitely not my fault. I’m just trying to make a living, ya know?

Azra rolled her eyes so hard that there was a second when she thought she might go blind. She didn’t have the patience to argue with Plorg at this point, she just wanted to get back to his shop and deal with whatever problem was happening there. The sooner they could get this guy off-world, the sooner they could wash their hands of it and leave Plorg’s fate to the force.

Probably not the most Jedi-centric way of looking at things, but it was how she felt.

A couple of dips down an alley here and a couple of dodges down some sidestreets there, and they eventually found their way to Plorg’s shop. It was an unassuming-looking thing, Azra might even call it boring, and it certainly didn’t have the faux glitz and glamor that it’s owner put on.

Either way, a ding of a bell greeted them as Plorg unlocked the front door and pushed it open. The inside looked pretty much like the outside. Filled with a bunch of random stuff Azra didn’t care anything about.

She started looking around but didn’t get too far before Plorg started yapping about something.

Someone has been here, he said, his eyes trained on some sort of game that was alight.

He didn’t get to say much more before a blaster bolt whizzed by his head and slammed into the wall behind him.

Well fuck, Azra said, her hand instinctively grabbing her lightsaber but refraining from igniting it for now. Friends of yours?

Before Plorg could reply, three very large and heavily armed bounty hunters - two piggy Gamorreans that flanked a spindly-looking Twi’lekki woman - emerged from the backroom.

Where’s the stash, Plorg? the woman asked, her tone making it obvious she was quite annoyed. The bounty on your head is fat as fuck, but we both know you got more than that in merch tucked way around this shitbox. Just tell us where it is and we’ll let someone else collect the credits on your head. Or, and truly this would be more fun for us all, you can cower behind your guards here and I can kill them and take you in and steal your shit.

Take them out on three? Azra said to Garvenhal through the force. One, two.. three.

And just like that, Azra's lightsaber sprung to life.

Vebria chewed on her lip as the trio in front of her weaved through the crowd. She was doing her best to keep up and keep them in sight, a lot easier with Plorg's get-up for sure. The group was ducking through alleyways and sidestreets, something that was making it a bit difficult to follow them. Do they know I'm here? She also had the eerie feeling she was being followed, and hoped that dodging around behind the group would shake the feeling. A few times she had to climb up some stairs beside a building to get above the crowd and regain her bearings, something Vebria was hoping wouldn't be too obvious.

Before long, Plorg stepped up to the door of a shop and began to unlock it. The Zabrak grimaced, looking around for another entrance. She darted down an alleyway beside the building after the others had made their way in, and to her surprise, found the rear door wide open. Of all the luck... Vebria pushed her way inside gently, pulling out her rifle and shouldering it as she crept towards the front of the store.

As she peeked around a corner, she saw three figures in the dim lighting. That's definitely not the ones I was following. The figure in the middle raised a blaster and fired through the doorway towards the front of the store. She raised her rifle as the group pushed into the main area of the store, listening as the Twi'lek spoke. Crikking bounty hunters. Knew I was going to have competition. Her eyes widened as the female Jedi ignited her lightsaber. Well, time to get myself in some good graces. Vebria aimed at the Twi'lek's right kneecap and pulled the trigger.

The lovely room of fiery death Caul found himself in wasn’t his biggest concern, his biggest concern was the sound of blaster fire coming from outside, and if he had to guess they weren’t there to marvel at the emporium, they were here for this room.

With more than a little exasperation Caul asked the Force, “Would it kill you, to just once, put me in someplace safe? PLEASE?!

His anxiety was having a field day with his intrusive thoughts, there was a chortle behind him and he turned to see a hidden console coming to life. His curiosity got the best of him and tentatively he stepped toward the device. Immediately he realized he was looking at the monitor for a camera. He frowned, “Are those… lightsabers?

Everything on the screen was a blur. Streaks of superheated plasma and the constant hum of lightsabers made it tough to really make out what was happening. He spotted a blue dude doing his own little dance of terror before narrowly missing being hit by a blaster bolt and disappearing from the screen and up the stairs.

Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!” Caul started, but as soon as he heard the lock on the door disengage, his mind clicked into mission mode. His blaster and lightsaber were in his hands and at the ready. He didn’t ignite his lightsaber, so when the door slid open revealing a disheveled Mr. Plorg time froze. They both stared at each other, both absently pointing at the other in pure astonishment. Caul found his voice first and asked, “P2daLorg76?” Plorg nodded, then returned, “FlylikeaJedi89?” Caul nodded.

Thank the fucking stars,” sighed Plorg, he slammed a fist on the lock by the door and it hissed shut behind him. Confusion blossomed across Caul’s features, “What in the hell is going on?

Plorg looked at him, his brow arching, “You’re part of the Jedi sent here to protect me right? Oh I’m sure you want your little game too,” Plorg was gathering the room's paraphernalia like a guy ready to get the hell out of dodge, so Caul just went with it, “Yup, that’s definitely why I’m here.

Levet felt like the sneakiest of hunters. He was doing his ancestors proud by remaining unseen even in such an urban environment. At one point he lost sight of the Zabrak but he focused on the same sensation he had felt when she was still in sight. He thought like a predator because that was also what this woman was and he followed his instincts and ducked down an alleyway. Levet's fellow Jedi were still close by so she could not have gone far.

He found an open back entrance to the Emporium. But as he neared he could feel a more intense sense of hostility. It was not the woman he had been tracking. Something, or someone else was already inside the building with a similar kind of intent as the person of interest. Actually, perhaps there were more of them. Sensing animals and connecting with them was more of Levet's strong suit. He still had trouble with telepathy and many of the other Force related techniques that some found came naturally.

The padawan did not see anyone else in alleyway watching him but he heard the sound of a blaster being fired inside the building. The young Mandalorian grabbed the hilt of his hybrid lightsaber and readied it without activating the blade. "Osik" He said under his breath through clenched teeth.

Moving into the Emporium as quietly and swiftly as possible he soon came within sight of the Zabrak. He saw her with her rifle raised, not knowing who or what she was shooting at. The hybrid blaster was leveled and his finger nearly pulled the trigger but he wondered if the stun bolts would be enough to stop them. His westar would have had more stopping power but there was no point in thinking about that. Instead he activated the blade and held it at the bounty hunter's back. It's point hovered just a few centimeters away from her spine. "Lay down your weapon or you'll lose an arm...and maybe your head." The padawan had no idea that the zabrak was actually trying to help his comrades. For all he knew they had just assassinated one of them. He hoped he had not been too late. If the woman made any sudden moves then Levet would do his best to follow through with his warning.

"Language, Padawan. Remember, we're Jedi, not dockworkers." the traditionalist Garvenahl chided Azra gently. Sure, he wanted to drop a few F-bombs as soon as the shooting started but he was a Jedi and a scientist. He held himself to a higher standard and he was about to prove it.

"My lady, must we resort to blasterfire so early in the day? I'm sure there's another way to handle this that we can all agree to." Garvenhal begun the negotiation process when the Twi'lek and her pig guards showed up. Unfortunately, that was as far as the negotiations were going to get because everyone else was, evidently, on a different page.

Azra immediately ignited her saber and started combat. Before the Lutrillian could say anything, a blaster bolt came out of nowhere and hit the Twi'lek in her knees, causing the Gammorreans to charge Plorg with their vibrolances. Goodness gracious - this had escalated rather quickly. If Garvenhal didn't act quickly, innocents were going to get hurt.

The Knight dove behind cover to protect the most valuable and innocent beings here - his butterflies. Once he'd placed the jar safely behind a desk, safe from stray shots, Garvenhal peeked his head out from behind the cover of the desk and Force Pushed Plorg away from the path of the Gammorreans.
