So I'm new and have a couple of questions.

1. Currency- is there one? I see the "credits" and I know those are tied to character level-ups, but for getting more weapons, or items, or ships, or anything. I know we have to have tech approved in the tech section, and advanced tech requires a mod-run story to acquire, I believe? But what if we just want more blasters or basic ships? Can we just get them approved and add them? How do we purchase things?

(More questions to come.)

We don't have a system for tracking IC credits or currency. They are fluff for the most part. As the roleplay progresses you can add more non-advanced non-restricted tech to your profile within reason. You can tag your local CP Mod to look it over and make sure it's alright.

Advanced tech requires a submitted plot, not necessarily mod run unless a mod is a DM. Bounty acquisitions from the bounty board can be used for one piece of advanced tech as well.

Cool! Good to know. IveI seen some advanced tech that has specific requirements to get, like must do a plot with certain NPCs for instance. What about advanced tech that doesn't have specific requirements? Like a jet pack?

Also, what are the requirements for getting battleships, like Corvettes, destroyers, capital ships etc.?

For advanced tech that doesn't have specific requirements, you just have to submit and complete a plot that somehow justifies you getting ahold of it. Your imagination is the limit there,

As for capital ships, those can't be owned by individual character- they're factions assets, and can only be obtained for the larger faction via faction plots.

As Loco said, you just submit a plot and complete it that justifies it. Would have to be a faction plot. It can be however seems plausible with your imagination being the limit. For example Nefieslab reclaimed a corvette for the Jedi from pirates. Others like Sreeya have conveyed goodwill with shipmakers and/or planetary governments who will either make ships for them and/or gift them.

So when we do a plot to get the advanced tech, do we send a private message to a mod to request approval?

The plot sections is here. You would submit your tech plot in the character plot section, using the template sticked in the linked area. Capital ship plots would go in faction plots. Nobody but you and the plot mods are able to see your submissions

Thank you everyone for your helpful responses. Especially @Faster Than Light and @Loco.

More questions now!

These revolve around the new Cartel Plot which is open for independents as well.

I see the reward for a plot thread delivering coaxium or isotope-5 to the cartel bosses is 1 million credits (for independents), but as was stated in this thread earlier, credits are pretty much just fluff. So, can we say we used those credits to pay for a bit of advanced tech, like an item or upgrade? Or is there no real OOC reward for completing said plot threads?

Also, given how the plot reads, that Makeb is not entirely under Hutt or Republic control, would it be possible to run a faction plot smuggling coax or iso for a different faction? If so, could said coax or iso be traded in another plot for rewards for said faction, like squads of fighters or capital ships? If so, how many tons of coax and/or iso would it cost to buy squads of fighters or capital ships for your faction?

Can't speak for the latter question (smuggling for other factions), but in regards to advanced tech so far in the timeline 500k credits has been enough for a piece of advanced tech. Capital ships being the exception to this, though they may be used to lower the thread count needed to obtain them as part of a plot (likely similar for a squadron of ships, getting one ship for yourself can be done via credits).

Regarding how much, a plot for stealing it will essentially amount to 1 million, the specific amount doesn't matter. If you saw Solo think of the train heist as a good idea of amount I believe.

Credits are fluff. Think of bounties/Makeb stuff as simply a coupon for one piece of advanced tech (excluding capital ships, which as the person above said can be used to shorten the plot down a thread or something like that). Capital ships will require faction plots though even with help from bounties. And I believe the same with squadrons of fighters.

@Loco or @Malon can correct me if I'm wrong since they are the experts. :)

Thank you! I believe you answered my questions.

So basically what you're saying is that a ship-load of coaxium and 1 million credits from bounty turn-in are basically interchangeable. One is just as good as another as far as lightening the load of a later acquisition plot?

Also, might sound silly, but... how do you start a private conversation with someone? I see my inbox, but I can't figure out how to send a message to someone?

Also, how many threads can a single character take part in at a time.

And, what are the requirements for threads for big plots the the Hutt plot on Makeb? Length? Participants? Etc?

It's usually best to have at least one other participant in threads with you. If your goal is to have a 1v1 PvP, it's understandable to do it yourself (in regards to you being by yourself on your side of the battlefield; the 2nd participant in this case would be your foe).
