Ramail Lone's Beskar'gam

This set of beskar'gam was made and put together by the Clan Lone warrior, Ramail, starting when she passed her verd'goten and continuing to this day. Due to the scarcity of the beskar alloy traditionally used for a Mandalorian's armor, only one piece of Ramail's armor - her helmet - is made thereof. Surprisingly, the rest of her armor is not made of durasteel; instead, it is alum alloy, tempered and folded to achieve the desired toughness and durability. The folding and tempering of this alloy is what lends the armor its dark grey finish. There is very little in the way of ornamentation on Ramail's beskar'gam. It is made to be functional in battle and resilient against the wear and tear of prolonged deployments and other periods in the field. The color scheme adheres to Clan Lone's traditional combination of maroon, orange, and the dark grey of the alum alloy that they prefer over durasteel. Most coverage is given to the chestplate and helmet; the rest of the armor consists of local coverage, e.g. vambrace covering the lower arms, pauldrons covering the deltoids, and plated alum covering key areas of the groin and legs. Ramail has had an emergency vac-suit fitted in as an undersuit for her beskar'gam, since she spends a lot of time in her fighter and does not shed her beskar'gam for an actual spacesuit while flying. The non-plated areas of her armor are shatual hide, sourced from shatual herds that were removed from Mandalore and bred on other planets before the destruction of the planet's ecosystem. Shatual hide is quite uncommon, but not impossible to acquire, and Clan Lone prides itself on taking the extra steps necessary to procure the hide, because it is highly durable and the naturally black color of the shatual compliments the clan colors.

It has taken Ramail years to gather the parts for the set. Some were custom-made for her by her clan's armorer; others, like the breastplate, was passed down from defeated Lone warriors. The chestplate originally belonged to a human male from the clan, but Ramail's square frame and flat chest enabled her to use it when he died. Overall, the armor is a reliable, durable, no-nonsense armor set with a few gadgets hidden away (see the Functions section below).

LEGALITY

Ramail's beskar'gam is no different in terms of armaments or metals used (except for the beskar) than a well-equipped bounty hunter's gear. However, its distinctive style with the Mandalorian T-visor gives it a certain notoriety from the get-go. Whilst she may fit in well with the denizens of an Outer Rim world, on a Core planet like Coruscant her attire would certainly stand out. Not necessarily in the context of legality, but sometimes - with armor like Ramail's - legality is the least of one's worries.

INTENT

Every Mandalorian needs her beskar'gam, amirite?

RESTRICTIONS
Restricted to be used only by Ramail, meaning she will kick your butt if you ever get it in your head to steal it.

Type and Coverage

Type: Heavy Armor

Coverage: (Coverage regions for Light armor is 1-3 regions, Medium is 4-5, Heavy is 6-7)

  • Head: Like a standard Mandalorian T-visor helmet, it covers the entirety of her head, the bottom "jawline" of the helmet extending to halfway down her neck. The helmet is not connected to a gorget, meaning the part of Ramail's neck below the helmet and above the chestplate and pauldrons is exposed shatual hide.
  • Torso: Full coverage of chest and abdomen. Exposed areas (shatual hide) at the point where shoulder and torso meet.
  • Back: Full coverage of upper and lower back. Socket on the upper back for a detachable jet pack. Exposed areas (shatual hide) at the point where shoulder and torso meet.
  • Upper Arms: Pauldrons covering the deltoid muscles. Rest of the upper arms are exposed shatual hide.
  • Lower Arms: Vambraces and plates gloves covering most of the lower arms. Left vambrace contains a concealed wrist rocket launcher. Elbow joint is exposed shatual hide.
  • Upper Legs: Metal plating of the groin, back and front of the thigh. Glutes and the areas between the metal plating are exposed shatual hide.
  • Lower Legs: Ramail prefers to have no plating on her lower legs so as not to restrict her freedom of movement unnecessarily. Like the exposed areas of the other parts of her body, it is shatual hide. Her boots are army-quality with a thick, sturdy sole.

Functions

Function 1: Jet Pack

  • Jet packs are back mounted units used by elite troops increase their mobility on the battlefield. The jet pack's maximum speed is 50 kph and it carries fuel for up to five minutes of continuous flight (flight mode), but can also be fired in short bursts triggered by jumping (combat mode). The wearer can control the system to switch between modes and/or disengage it from their armor via wrist controls. These packs are cumbersome, adding an additional 8kg for the average human (larger individuals will have heavier jet packs to support their weight). While the fuel is stable enough not to explode, direct hits from weapons can trigger the system inadvertently, after which it is rendered useless.
    • Force User Compatible?: No
Function 2: Rebreather

  • Rebreathers allow for a person to survive underwater or in space for brief amounts of time by scrubbing CO2 from their exhaled breath. Generally this lasts for 3-4 posts, but heavy exertion can shorten that time.
    • Force User Compatible?: Yes
Function 3: Emergency Vac-Suit

  • It's no replacement for a spacesuit if you intend to EVA, but this undersuit, if combined with a helmet, can protect the wearer from the immediate effects of exposure to a vacuum for 5 posting rounds. You still need a way to breathe, however.
Function 4: Vision Modes

  • This Allows a Helmet HUD to cycle to low-light OR thermal vision modes.
    • Force User Compatible?: Yes
Function 5: Wrist Rocket

  • Wrist rockets have a flight range of 100 meters and have a blast radius of 3 meters. They are single-shot devices and require manual reloading after use. They are effective against lightly armored vehicles, moving parts such as gears or hydraulics, and infantry, and do equivalent damage to a frag grenade. The must be manually fired by button or trigger.
    • Force User Compatible?: No
