NAME: Ravi Rahman
ALIAS: Numbers Guy, Chad from Accounting, Deadbeat Dad, Flyboy, Rules Lawyer, Bassanio #4, Obi-Jinn
FACTION: Sacred Band of Ziost
RANK:---
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 28
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 174 cm
WEIGHT: 63 kg
FORCE SENSITIVE: Unknown

Appearance: Pretty normal white human male. Somewhat slender with black hair and grey eyes. Generally doesn't strike fear in anyone but might incite hatred from a few Ruanese women. Tends to wear normal work clothes. Wears glasses though has been considering eye surgery.

Personality: Used to be pretty driven to succeed at schoolwork. More recently, rather mopey and prone to reminiscing on how it all went wrong. Rather motivated by shame and guilt. Kinda paranoid and watchful.

Attributes: For the most part, not super strong. Never really found it to be super useful so didn't practice it a whole lot. Kinda dextrous, got some practice fighting and shooting later on during his career but pretty good at piloting. Constitutionally, probably couldn't take too many hits but has had pretty good health in recent years, not even any allergies. Pretty intelligent, got into the best school for galactic macroeconomics. Not so wise, got obsessed with other problems and failed out of the best school for galactic macroeconomics. Sometimes charismatic, fairly charming when he chooses to be.

Skills: Still pretty good at economics, just missed some of the most arcane portions of it at school. Accounting was his jam for a while and still has some skills in it. Pretty decent at flying too, got a lot of practice in a number of situations. Also pretty good with the rules and regulations of most ports. Not too bad at shooting, got some practice when working with criminals. Does some hand to hand stuff but mostly for disabling his attacker long enough to escape. Hasn't bothered with melee weapons aside from an occasional chair. Dabbles in Huttese. Can play a mean fiddle.

Gear: Fighter, blaster pistol, canteen of water, weeklong supplies of food in the fighter, flashlight, umbrella.

Background:
Ravi slammed his drink on the plywood bar and broke down crying. The tears of regret and shame coursed their way down his crimson face. He'd be more reserved normally but all the patrons were strangers. In the musty and dimly lit bar, he let out all the emotions he'd kept bottled up for so long.

He had almost made it. Just a few steps more and he would have had it all. His single minded devotion to his studies had taken him from the farm planet of Ruan to the most prestigious program in the study of galactic macroeconomics in the entire galaxy. With that, he was going to work for the Republic Economic Council and he was going to take his family from a hardscrabble existence on Ruan to an opulent lifestyle as true galactic citizens. It was all so close.

When he started at the Telosian School of Economics, he was hard at work learning the deep intricacies of econometrics, the subtle influences arising from the planetary level, a history of the current policies, how to uncover trends in eras of poor record keeping, and how inter-galactic crime had affected the overall direction of the economy.

Yet, in this time of promise, the seeds of destruction were laid. His scholarship application had not been selected for unknown reasons. To pay for schooling, he took out the first of many student loans.

His mother, a woman of the soil of Ruan was anxious. With every hour of studying he did, he would drift further from Ruan and the community that raised him. As much as she wanted him to be all he could be, she also wanted him to be a part of her world. Desperate for a connection that would keep in the community, she found a friend's daughter that had pined for him when they were younger and he was oblivious. Knowing that he had become lonely in his time of study, his mother mentioned the daughter to him and gave a few nudges to suggest that he should start a relationship with her.

Wanting to appease his mother, he connected with her. She was certainly a lovely and intelligent lady and did bring up positive memories of home. She even taught him how to cook in the Ruan style that he had neglected for so long. But for all the joy she gave, she was still on Ruan building a business there. Their only communication was via long distance comm link which limited their relationship significantly.

Slowly, his grades began to suffer as his mind wandered elsewhere. The fortunes of his village pressed more highly on his mind and he could not shake it as easily on tests.

One day while walking home from classes, he sniffed the familiar scent of Ruan cooking. Approaching the apartment, he saw a woman checking her mail. He asked if she was the one with the wondrous cooking. Pleased to see another Ruan person with a taste for good food, she invited him in and had a few drinks. As a fairly lonely person herself, she had some needs and one thing led to another.

The next morning, he left with a profound sense of disappointment in himself. Sure, it was his first time but he had betrayed the one he was with and in some sense, his mother too. Since his mother and girlfriend lived on opposite sides of the planet from each other, they would never know but he would know. And that was enough.

Consumed with guilt, he became irritable and withdrawn. He started arguing with his girlfriend and mother more and more. The gentle downward slope of his grades sudden turned into a downward spiral into oblivion.

At the end of the semester, he received a message from the program telling him that his grades were too low to him to continue and he was expelled from the program. Utterly embarrassed and ashamed, he could not tell anyone he knew. To support himself, he took a diner job on campus to keep some cash flow.

Back on Ruan, his girlfriend's business was thriving and needed another manager. When she contacted him to see if he was interested, he was evasive and avoidant. He could not go home without his degree that he used to work so hard for. Eventually, he stopped answering when she became more persistent.

Life continued on without her. He was promoted in his job and he was rebuilding his life there, even if a little bit. However, the other Ruan woman had left at some point and he had not found any way to contact her.

One day, he came back to his apartment to find two horrifying surprises. That Ruan woman had a child, found his address, and was demanding child support money. The other was a letter from his student loan provider demanding a lot of money. He had no means to pay for either.

Pooling his money together, he looked at options for leaving the planet and presumably Telosian family and contract law. Noticing a freighter disembarking for Alsakan, he started a job with the shipping company.

For a little while, this afforded him some semblance of a normal life. He was able to save some money and afford a few luxuries. But even that peace was disrupted by constant calls by both the Telosian child support agency and his creditors. With little effort, he jettisoned his comm link and any communication with anyone he ever knew.

At the same time, he was learning the ropes of space travel from the pilots perspective. From operation of large freighters to port facility tug craft, he began to understand the 3D world of space ports in a truly new way. From mere nodes on a economic model of the galaxy, ports became a full world to him.

This slight joy and peace was disrupted yet again when he met a man by the port cafeteria that insisted that he visit Telos. Ravi surmised that he probably was some paid goon of either the mother of his child or the debt collectors given the lawsuit he'd face on Telos. After the veiled threats seemed to lose any potency, the thug pulled off the velvet gloves and made threats that were more clearly seen.

A quick dash to tug craft averted any physical altercation as Ravi quickly activated the airlock. Unfortunately, the thug had come in with a fighter. While there was little incentive for the thug to try to kill him, immobilizing the tug was a viable means of extracting him and getting him to pay up.

A short dogfight ensued as Ravi dodged EMP blasts and ultimately manipulated the thug to fire upon a freighter of a fairly important shipping company. After both were arrested, they were given a hearing. Using his detailed knowledge of the rules and regulations of port facilities, Ravi figured out how to obtain the fighter in the hearing.

However, despite his short lived victory, he knew he'd have to leave the company as more thugs would follow. Over the next few years, he drifted from company to company dodging thugs and goons. In one attempt to escape the goons, he accelerated his fighter up to near light speeds without going into hyperspace. As a result, he sped into the future for about 10 years while only experiencing a few days. For a little while, it worked and he could find honest work without harassment. But eventually, the thugs were able to track down his new employer.

As he hoped to maintain a lower profile, he began to blend into less than legal organizations. In addition to piloting, he began to learn the basics of firearms and hand to hand combat for the occasional need for force. These helped a lot once the creditors gave up on actually recovering any money and simply wanted to make an example of him. Due to the nature of his new work, he acquired a few more enemies including the Republic itself which had a warrant for his arrest.

After some time, he eventually found a surprisingly luxurious smuggling ship out of Republic Territory into the Sith planet of Ziost. On that ship, he found the bar and just lost it as all of those decisions he had made led up to that moment. He was an outlaw, far from home, and far from what he had hoped to become. But there was no way to go back. There was only forward. Maybe he could restart anew in the Sith Empire.

What happened to his girlfriend? What about the love child? Does Ravi eventually meet the child and make amends? Did Ravi's mother find out? How did she responded? What about Ravi's degree? He was so close to acquiring the degree (and come to think about his happiness), but yet lost it all.

Indolence is a terrible thing!

If it all works out, these questions will be answered in the course of the RP! (And if anyone wants to create characters for the mom, love child, girlfriend, or lover, that'd be cool too!)

Except for the degree which is pretty much a closed door unless the administration suddenly has a change of heart.

However, if the battle of Telos goes well, he might see the administration again!
