Hello and welcome to the Rebel suggestions and feedback thread!

Anyone can post a suggestion and/or give feedback, so please don't hold back! We may not be able to actually answer every post, however if it's posted here it will be considered.

If you simply want to support something that's already been suggested, then please post here as well. This will provide the leadership team with a good idea of how much general support within the Rebellion as a whole the idea has. That said this isn't the place to discuss the suggestions in depth as that will likely derail the thread (instead discuss specifics either in a new specially made thread or via PMs).

Thanks!

Hey I had an idea that is similar to the Jedi Archives. With all the new, untrained, recruits coming into the rebellion I think it would be a good idea to 'publish' an official, editable pamphlet (thread) where members can post strategies, tactics, and the like for land, sea, and space based warfare. This would help especially the civilian resistance members 'learn' how to effectively combat and elude the Empire.

While the Jedi Archives has a purpose ICly, this pamphlet really wouldn't other than to serve as a "Field Guide". "So what's the reason for it then?" you might ask. I believe it should be made to help members who are participating in battles know effective and established strategies for battle. It's not an exhaustive list nor would it be mandatory to follow those strategies. As RPs happen and members find what works and doesn't work they can add to the pamphlet or modify existing entries based on mission outcomes.

Since many of the members on this site don't have a military background it would be nice to have a 'list' of a few tactics and procedures that new/inexperienced members can utilize in their missions instead of running in blindly and hoping for the best. Again it wouldn't be a mandatory order of battle, just a suggestion for those who don't feel confident in their ability to come up with their own strategies.

Per the first post; if others are interested in this idea VM/PM me and I'll set up a thread in the OOC board to discuss it further.

I too support this. I believe it is a great idea, and could not only be used for military tactics but also for many other things, like information on planet and Imperial operations and public opinion or information on pirates and criminals operating out of certain sectors of space. Although, rather than create a big thread for this and have it be a jumbled-up mess, how about just open the Rebel Database to submissions, where people can put up all the information they wish, some certain appointed people can review the submissions to see if it stays or not, and everyone's happy.

Well done sir. Your testimony was what we needed to make this happen. I give you the Rebel Database!

This is just an idea, but instead of having a FL and AFL, perhaps we can do a sort of Rebel Council. Have a group to work together and be FL as a whole.

A Rebel Council is certainly a possibility for the future, but there has to be a specific FL for OOC organizational purposes.

I think an IC council would work great but as far as the faction goes I believe we should stick with the FL and AFL model. Being as there are a lot of decisions to be made, having a council to discuss a solution to every issue would be too....bureaucratic. :P It's unfortunate that both the FL and AFL disappeared at the same time but I don't think that's cause to throw out the old model for something untested.

I do think that it would make sense IC though. I remember a deleted scene from either the Clone Wars or Revenge of the Sith were the beginnings of the rebellion are meeting in Padme's house in a "council" type setting. I haven't read too much story stuff for the rebellion but as it stands all we really have is a military leader. I think it would be a good time to start expanding into a more formal government over the few planets we already own. I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing anything about the rebels being led by anyone but military personnel. Most of the rebel is filled with former GA members and they would start to feel uncomfortable with the sole leader being a militant. It would remind them a bit of the very Empire they are fighting if nothing changes soon.

Anyway like I said, I haven't ready up on the rebels since I first joined the site so I could be completely wrong about this.

I agree since a tax revenue, no matter how small, from the controlled planets and trade would be a great asset.

I don't disagree with this in theory, but I do disagree in practice.

Unfortunately, the Rebellion has done next to nothing since it was created over 4 months ago. It hasn't expanded, it really hasn't gone after any resources, and is the exact same size with the exact same capabilities it had when the time skip happened at the end of October. I see that there's currently a mission going on to restore a Star Destroy for the Rebellion, and that's great because it's good to have those so I don't mean to sound like I'm belittling it, but that's one Star Destroyer up against the bagillion that the Empire has. The Rebellion isn't doing enough, which is why I've stepped in.

That's also why there are only military personnel in charge, because there is no non-military component of the Rebellion. There's no need for one; the Rebels don't control any planets, they just have bases of operation on some. They also lack the resources or the manpower to really begin expanding into other planets. That's something that can happen in the mid-term, but in the short-term the faction needs to focus on building military resources or else there's not going to be much of a Rebellion.

So eventually, I agree that there probably will and should be a Rebel Council of some sort, but that's only once the Rebellion actually begins to formalize some sort of ideology other than "the Sith must die." There are parts of the Rebellion that want to restore a government like the Galactic Alliance. Other parts want to restore the benevolent Galactic Empire, from before the Sith took over. Others still don't particularly care what kind of government there is as long as it's good for their exploits like bounty hunting, smuggling, and so forth. If we created a Rebel Council right now, what would that Rebel Council represent? Nothing much at all.

But like I said, it will happen eventually.

Good to know. If I'm right in saying, there is only 2 bases and the Rebel Dawn. But it's good to know that you'll be helping the Rebellion get running.

...I apologise now for the plug, but would it possible to use this thread I made a couple days back as a sort of starting point for the Rebels moving up the pace a bit? It was meant to be general report on latest news/socialise thing, but it could provide a chance to establish IC coordination.

Yeah we have Ord Pardron and Smuggler's Run for bases, and then Rebel Dawn as the mobile base. We also marked Terminus and Utapau on the map as being places where the Rebels can establishes bases so I want to get that going soon. I'm also interested in Naboo, and maybe somewhere in the area around Endor and Bakura.

Can you summarize the thread really quick?

Despite a failed attempt at making an indie faction, when Breetor joins the Rebels, he will be bringing the Vergesso Asteroid Base...which has a shipyard along with other weaponized goodies. Repairs will need to be made, but...

Were the shipyard and weapons approved?

Yeah, the faction was approved too, it just fell into inactivity. Any archived tech on the base was locked away and inaccessible until someone got the specific tech pieces reapproved.

Wit and I were planning to obtain the Imperial Knights Lost Fleet at Siege-1, but I don't think we ever heard back from Drala (or was it Cassanova?).

Here is the write-up for the base that was approved.

VERGESSO ASTEROID BASE ENCLAVE

VABEnclave_zpsa38fc790.png

The Vergesso Asteroid Base Enclave is equipped with several key wings: Life Support, Defense, accommodation, amenities, mess hall, armoury, storage areas, command area, staging area, docks, escape bays, engineering, medical, scientific and recreational. A large number of these systems have been rendered completely offline by either battle damage or neglect over the course of the years.

The life support, storage and amenities area are all grouped together which allows any personnel access to food, water, air, and other essential needs. The life support area of the ship is responsible for not only production of oxygen and recycling of carbon dioxide by using scrubbers, but it also houses a greenhouse which produces a wide variety of edible vegetables and fruits. The water recycling part of the ship operates on a distilling process, evaporating the water from any liquid waste, and compacts the remaining nitrates into fertiliser cubes which are then used to aide in the growth of the life support greenhouse.

The command, staging, engineering and escape areas are located directly next to the docks, which allow for easy preparation for missions tasks, and in the event of attack, escape. The command centre houses the console which operates the sensor net which lines the asteroid belt, allowing the base' occupants time to either power down, or to escape.

Between the two primary areas are the base's "communal" areas which include the accommodation, recreation, and market areas. The accommodation is quite simple; barracks style beds with ablution blocks. Each room catering to four guests. The market area is a large room, originally what would have been a storage area, or disused hangar, that contains dozens of stalls from the remnants of a market that was set up that earned revenue by retailing goods ranging from foodstuffs to weapons, armaments, armour, drugs, alcohol, and on the rare occasion, even horticultural products. Since the Retrade’s dissolution by the Hutt Cartel, the market has been left in a state of disrepair, with some products even being left behind. The recreation area of the base houses a gym, arcade, and several bars - a typical pub style establishment, a nightclub, and a few other smaller places.

As the asteroid belt is forever in a field of flux it is difficult to predict where the base is in the field at any point in time. As a result of this, access is difficult unless you are given specific permission. The name of the group betrays their home system, though again thanks to the fluctuating nature of the asteroid belt, it is difficult to pin down the precise location without doing active scans, which would be detected by the base's sensor system. Difficult, but not impossible, the base's security measures having been toned down considerably since Retrade days. Pilots approaching the VAB are asked to be conscious of other ships in the system that might be observing their movements.

Important Info:

Ten years of neglect is a long time, as such, certain areas of the base are powered down with limited or no access at all. These areas are:

Armory (Limited access, you can get in, but the weapon cages with Praxus weaponry are locked until a key can be found or the cages dismantled by hand [aka, until the tech is reapproved from archive])
Suit Room (Offline. Security software corruption means it will take some time to gain access)
Market (Powered down)
Livestock Exports (Offline)
Greenhouse (Partially inaccessible. Heavily overgrown)
Hangar Bay 2 (Powered down, inaccessible)
Defense (Offline)
Shipyard (Not an actual physical part of the base, but offline due to lack of materials needed to operate)

The VAB has a fair amount of weaponry and tech leftover in it from the days of the Retrade. The full asset list is as follows:
5 HRM ST03 HARM suit (Locked away in the suit room)
7 DSO NV-1 Pressure Suit (Locked away in the suit room)

1 J-15B Aethersprite class Fighter (Locked in Hangar 2)
1 Haranov Gunship (Locked in Hangar 2)
1 Copperhead Assault Shuttle (Locked in Hangar 2)

The VAB used to have 12 KLOWN MkII droids as base security. However due to a decade of neglect, they are in such a state of disrepair/smashed by debris that only the most basic tech ad scrap metal can be salvaged from them.

In addition, the VAB has:
20 assorted protocol/task droids
80 Shipbuilding droids

Also Cortan and I struck up a deal with a Sullustan Ship yard, so we're getting a steady stream of ore and materials. I think a good next step would be establishing a manufacturing base where the Rebellion can start designing and creating warships, arms, and equipment. We have the materials from the ship yard and Ord Pardon but no large-scale manufacturing plants.
