PERSONALITY
Arkanians are well known for their arrogant, superiority complexes due to extensive genetic engineering. While Regis doesn't display pinnacles of his species with regard to arrogance, humility is not one of the words that would readily be used to describe him. Self-confident and ambitious, Regis is also an intellectual who takes a keen interest in a wide variety of topics. Often his knowledge is considered pedantic by others, but Regis seems to either not notice or not care.
Biography
Regis was born to a middle-upper class family of academics on Arkania. Renowned for their series of important experiments in Arkanian genetics, it appeared that Regis was going to be on track to continue in the same career as his family. Graduating with exception marks from his undergraduate institution, he went on to earn his PhD in recombination genetics at the age of twenty-six.
His two year career in research came to an end as he turned his eye toward the politics of the galaxy. With the conflicts between the Empire and the Mandalorians simmering down, Regis saw an opportunity to extend his reach beyond his home world and alter the direction of the galaxy through the brand new position in the United Protectorate.
Although not previously a politician, Regis won the election as something of a dark horse. Privately, Regis credits much of his success to his speech writer, Davin, who was recently killed during a crossfire between Sith and Mandalorian forces.
Despite his academic success, Regis wasn't one to neglect the party scene. He is equally comfortable in a party as any other politician and can be quite charming when the situation calls for it.
