Boy oh boy did Flynn have a good hand!

... actually hold up.

He glanced around the table at the other players of the game. He had managed to kind of push and bully and cajole Doc and Renard into joining him at the gambling den/club with promises of buying the first round of drinks but now that they were actually here at the table he wasn't actually sure what game they were playing. Yeah, sure it was a variant of sabacc but, well, what variant?

The table had been labeled as sabacc but, like, seriously.

Was it Inner Rim Sabacc? Smugglers Sabacc? Strip Sabacc?

He looked down at the cards in his hand for a long moment before leaning in towards Renard on his left.

"Psst."

Flynn held his hand so that Renard could see his hand and honestly asked the large, furry, young man a very serious and very important question.

"So, like, is my hand any good?"

She had a pretty good idea of Sabacc. It had just been an age since she had even played anything similar... or even remotely wanted to.

She couldn't believe that Human could manipulate her into a game, though. She hadn't played since her undergrad days... and now, she was aware that a teem of girls all fawning and giving away tells with their latest boy toys wasn't going to cut it in this game. She was playing with the credits she'd earned on Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa, however, she had her eyes on another prize.

Mostly gaining more credits, but also figuring tells. It could never hurt to try.

She had an awful hand, but she'd dealt with worse. While Flynn was catching Renard's attention with his hand, she merely glanced at hers, then back up to the rest of their company.

Her expression was almost entirely devoid of any emotion; the glass she had procured earlier still sat by her elbow, and she itched to down another shot. But she had to keep a clear head for the game... now it was time to wait. And let the chips fall where they may.

So, this was a casino? How...gaudy. Also, a deathtrap if anyone wanted to defend the building from invaders. Hazards and obstacles all over, a small troop of security being the only ones allowed to have weapons on the floor. If he had been asked to come up with a plan to take over the place, bribe the guards or poison them, block the exits, then flood the building with gas. Lethal or non-lethal, it matters not. Both would get the job done. He blinked, coming back to the moment. Flynn was trying to get his attention for some reason, so he decided to humor the human.

Apparently he was asking if the cards he was holding were any good. Renard had no idea, he'd never played this game before. Well, he DID have an idea, most games of chance like these had certain elements that were similar to each other that were almost like a puzzle. A simple one, easily solved, so after a bit of thought on Flynn's question he shows the man his own hand. Similar, though the human has one card that has a higher value than Renard's. "You at least beat mine. I'm not sure of the nuances of some of these cards, but from what I've figured out you should have a strong hand. This is a strange game."

Wait really?

Kark, Flynn had already kind of blown most of his spending credits for this little gambling trip on the first few hands he had thought were good but turned out to be literal garbage. How was he supposed to know what cards were worth what value in this game? None of them were directly linked to the numbers on the cards half of the time!

Weird game really.

"Thanks buddy."
he thanks Renard before laying his hand down open on the table, "Read em and weep boys and girls - all your credits are belong to me this round!"

He reached out across the table for the pot of credits and began to pull them in towards himself. Flynn blinked when a vibro-knife stabbed in the table beside his hand.

"You cheated."

The other occupants of the table looked very unhappy and a large man was holding the knife close to Flynn's credits. Flynn grinned a little wider.

"Sometimes I do but on this occasion? Pure dumb luck I'm afraid!"

It was only some of that same pure dumb luck that stopped him losing his hand as the knife was stabbed at him again. Flynn pushed backwards from the table and the player literally flipped the table over in his anger.

Flynn had honestly always just thought that was an expression.

Renard still didn't understand just how things always seemed to escalate so quickly around Flynn. Maybe he had one of those faces that he had heard others talk about. He peered at his companion, trying to see if there was something that was off with it that just made people distrust him. He couldn't find anything he found odd, in fact he seemed quite handsome by human standards. Maybe people were jealous? People were weird, difficult to understand. The Doctor was more the opposite, in a way nearly as cold and methodical as Renard was. It was easier to talk to her about things, to be sure.

The Shistavanen was broken from his reverie by some angry gamblers, not happy their credits and weapons had been scattered when Flynn had flipped the table. One had managed to get up just before said furniture had gone spinning, so was in position to lung at the trio with surprising alacrity. Renard could see that this angry human was going for either the Doctor or Flynn, perhaps thinking he was too intimidating to go for alone, and the thought of one of of his friends getting hurt just...It made him angry. His reflexes kicked in, leaning forward to stand up from his chair and shooting a clawed hand out to punch the gambler in the throat. He went down, wide eyes glazed over from being stunned but not dead. It probably wouldn't be good to get blood all over the decor.

When the thug came charging at them, she was already ready. She had begun withdrawing something from the side of her jacket; it was only when Renard successfully stunned the raging gambler that she slowly replaced it, one white brow raised in bemusement.

They took their games so seriously... were their lives on the credits or something? Judging by the smell of unwashed bodies and the stink of desperation, her money was on it. Her lips briefly twitched at that notion. And none of them had seen her hand... so Flynn shouldn't have been so open and eager to display his hand.

Next round, perhaps.

She sighed and slowly set the table upright, amber eyes giving a deadpan stare to the rest of the table. Her face resumed its' usual cold demeanor, one hand on her hip.

"
Well? Are you just going to just stand there gawking like idiots, or shall we play a new round?"

To shock everyone, she gave Renard and Flynn a wink. It could do to rattle her opponents... and keep them on edge.

"
Unless you all are cowards when the credit chips are down."

Of course one of them just had to be a sore sport about the whole thing.

Honestly, Flynn wasn't sure if he hadn't just been struck dumb for a bit before he finally realized that he should probably have caused a bit more of a scene. Which was just rude! The gambler surged forwards out of his chair with a sudden cry and Flynn had decided that he had had enough of their interruptions!

"Shit your two-credit ass down before I make change!"

Of course he only ever said such things when attacking. He launched himself up from his chair, spinning as he delivered a powerful uppercut that caught the gambler right in the jaw before sending him flying back several meters before he landed heavily, out cold due to a glass jaw.

Flynn paused for a moment before sitting back down with a pout.

"Okay so one of you two might need to write me some material - you any good at puns Renard? Doc?"
